I am from Amarillo, Tx. I remember when he came here years ago, was a free concert. He was just trying to get known. I thought he was awesome and remember thinking this guy is going somewhere. And now all these years later he is king George. Every time I hear him sing "Amarillo by morning", love the song and proud to hear him sing about my city. One of the last real country singers that is left, keep it going my friend. Country music needs you like never before right now.

I told so many people, had this song been released in the 80’s/90’s, it would easily be one of George’s top songs all time. It’s definitely one of my favorites. “Into those neon arms that hold me tight” is one of his best lines ever.

Some of these words hit home for me. I know this song is for lovers but the pain he talks about fits so well for me since the death of my mom and then my Dad then February. Everything about me has changed. I used to be the girl that was the happy go lucky one, that laughed and made people smile. Now I rarely laugh. My heart hurts so bad and I cry so much. It hurts so bad and there is no way to make it better. It sucks but I try to remember this pain was because I was so blessed to have parents who loved me and helped me through my life. So I am grateful to God for that & I pray for patience.

So very sorry for the loss of your dear family. I’ve outlived both brothers, my only sister, both parents….and now caring for my ex husband (first and only love) who has Alzheimer’s. I’m blessed to have my children and grandchildren, but I miss having someone with whom I shared so many memories. Just never thought I would outlive my siblings too. Everyone has a story like mine, I’m not special. God blesses me every day…some days are just harder than others! But…George Strait’s voice sure brings me joy!!! Great memories of precious times! I met George Strait some 32 + years ago as a doorman at the bar inside the DFW Hilton Hotel. (Dallas/ Ft worth Texas). At the time I believe he was playing a show in town and was staying at the Hilton.
He was very much a gentleman.
Also, my Mother is a huge fan of his and was upset I couldn't have made it possible for her to meet him. What's a son to do? Lol
