I did - I took out the CAT and replaced with Arrow mid pipe....this still happened...looking back I think when I was doing tree crossings....that what might have happened...but seemed odd it would do that....because I've talked to others and they never had that happen....thanks for commenting!!!
Mat plus that had to stink while stopped. I sure would be concerned as to what's burning! I see you mentioned the Blackdog as stainless steel. I thought my Blackdog on my 1190R was alum. So I went and checked Blackdogs site. Good video and hope you helped someone before it's too late. More Heft = More Protection-3/16-inch (4.76mm) of 5052 Aluminum You get what you pay for. And we found the optimal material to protect, perform, and last. In fact, it could outlive your bike. The grade of aluminum we selected is designed to ABSORB impacts, not transfer the force to the mounting points on the bike.
Hi ! Thanks for your video and feedback. There are two points about that bike and skid plates position. The footpegs mounts can move and as our skid plate is fitted on those points, it can get the the plate more or less closer of the exhaust. You can check this video at 1:35 th-cam.com/video/nWYsStImC0E/w-d-xo.html to illustrate what I mean. To melt like this means the skid plate has been really against the exhaust during a while ( maybe the bike stood on a wood log or something like that as you show on you video). This skid plate has been sold at 5000+ units and non of the customer has any issue with that. Yes it can melt, no it can't go to fire then. This skid plate can be improved and this is what we did with our new version coming end of february. More rigidity at the rear to avoid contact with the exhaust, better coverage on the sides and always ligther than alloy plates :) thanks again
Fair point - yes the bike has been thru crossing logs and rocks so I get that...appreciate the insights....also doesn't stop me from buying more APX as I'm putting one on my BETA 430...so you still have a customer and I'll be showing that soon...thanks!
@@lifesjourneyat50 I'm waiting on outback motortek to release their new 2023 skidplate for the 890 because it covers the bottom of the fuel tanks not just the bottom of the bike.
So after watching, I had to go check mine. I have 10k miles on it and it isn't like that. The only thing that is different is you did the de-cat. So I am guessing the heat is more centralized or th pipe is closer. Maybe this is something for others with the de-cat to check and confirm.
Thanks for the video. I have a AXP and seriouly thinking of getting the BlackDog. On the right side is there a place for the vent hose to clip on or poke through? Also, it seems there arent many air vent holes other than the front. Does the skidplate dissapate heat well? Thanks for the video

That's sucks I have the arrow cat delete also on my 2023 ktm 890 adventure. And I was about to purchase the axp for mine.
I was shocked as well....so I made a change...it worked great...but then that...good luck

There are more holes than you think and the heat disperses well..yes it fits perfect...enjoy
