  • See my experience and discover the modification needed for this to fit perfectly.
    A lot of people have suggested this bash plate and I am grateful for the advice. Thanks to everyone so far for subscribing- it would be amazing if you'd click subscribe- thank you.
    Apologies for the sound in the beginning and end clips- I'm trying out a new camera and not sorted an external mic for it yet.

    Ian Chappel skid plate is better in design so you don't need any griding. There is also a linkage connecting both foot peg and support the entire bash plate. I feel I have total confidence in hitting a rock big time with it.
    Nonetheless anything is better than KTM factory tin can(sounds nice on gravel though that dingky sound LOL).

    Check out the video by Dad Mode, not to scare but just be aware, he lost his sump when a stray bolt flicked up and came through one of the vent slots in the front of an AXP ! I thought they were doing a V2 that covered that issue and also made it fit the 890 without modding the pump cover.

    So far I’m seeing some of these split at the seams on any impact rocks , stumps ext. This plastic stuff will go straight to the bin for me.

      I guess only time will tell and there is an element of luck with any protection. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Was the vent hose that went through the stock skid plate side long enough to route the hose to the outside of this skid plate? Need to keep hose away from anything hot when gas comes out laying on its side. Thank You!

      I actually can't remember that specific bit, but there were no routing problems or issues.

    Do you remove the the pieces of protective plastic on the aluminum metal parts before mounting?

    Looking at getting the newer AXP skid plate. Couple of questions.
    - Did you use the angle grinder while fuel pump guard was bolted to gas tank? Did you grind or cut that section off?
    - Procedure for oil and filter change with AXP skid plate off. So, do you have to remove the foot peg bolts and spacers again to remove the AXP skid plate for oil change? Does this take a while to align the front and back holes again?

      I used a Dremmel as an angle grinder seemed overkill! And yes, did it while it was in situ. Thanks for watching.

      Just received and installed my new AXP skidplate. Has all the latest mods. Looks like skid plate has about 2mm. less in that corner of fuel guard for better fitment. For now I left the OEM fuel pump guard as is. Thanks. @@advnoobie6061

    Thanks for another informative video. 👍 I'd thought the AXP bash plate was metal and wondered about excessive weight? It appears to be plastic, now I'm wondering about rigidity?

    • @advnoobie6061

      It's 8mm thick and fitted really securely- the rubber bungs underneath give a lot more support and energy absorption. And it's super light! Seemed like a no brainer after multiple comments suggesting it.

      @@advnoobie6061 The OEM fuel sack protectors look more substantial but I guess the tinplate aluminium between them is pretty feeble. I may consider fitting one to mine, depending on cost? I'm already shocked at how much is being asked for the heat shield to protect the rear shock and things like the one finger clutch extension bracket. I was happy to see alternatives from China at a more respectable price.

    Nice video, too bad you didn't get the V2 bash plate (that AXP has realeased) that comes with more space (less plastic) aournd the fuel pump guard area

    Once installed, how may bolts do you have to remove to drop skid plate for oil change? Do you leave the foot peg spacers / bracket when doing oil change?

    • @advnoobie6061
      @advnoobie6061  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve not done an oil change yet but reckon you’d only need to take out the rear two bolts and let it hang down a bit. The rear bolts are easier to re align than the front ones. Maybe others have more experience of this.

    This bash plate does not cover the area you had a impacted last time?

    • @advnoobie6061
      @advnoobie6061  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Pablo. You are correct. It sits at the same level. I think it will protect more as it’s stronger and should deflect better. It was strange damage and more a result of me riding the wrong line, so my own fault!
      Thanks for watching and I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
