I would never advise a bespoke black suit. They seem only appropriate at funerals and weddings. Blues, grays, checks, stripes etc are all good but most black suits are underwhelming, don't accessorize as well and generally look played out.

I actually prefer this to Steve Harvey’s advice where he said to buy 4 suits that can all be interchanged to make 16 suits, because while all the suits look good, not everyone can pull off dual colour suits.

Don't buy a black suit. They look terrible. Get a charcoal one instead. Way more versatile and you won't look like you're going to a funeral. The guy also forgot to talk about fabrics. A navy wool suit and a navy linen suit are completely different looks.
Where did they get this guy from like really where is this guy from? The advice given is totally and utterly incorrect. I worked in men's clothing in England, France, and the US both in bespoke, MTM, and RTO. I now own a professional image consultant firm. You should NEVER and mean NEVER make your very first suit a black one. Only if you are a waiter, part of the clergy, or a funeral director should you buy a black suit as your first one. The first suit should be either navy or charcoal gray with no patterns. Full stop. Not until you get at least 5 suits should you be considering getting a peacock color suit like a bright green or something with a bold pattern to it. When you are limited in funds or opportunities to wear a suit you have to pick a suit that you can wear multiple times without it being obvious you have only one or two. Just change the shirt and tie and you can make your wardrobe bigger than it is. People will remember the patterns and loud colors and it will be very easy to tell you are wearing the same suit multiple times. Additionally, Navy and charcoal gray allows you to wear different colors for your shoes, shirts, and ties whereas black will limit what colors you can wear.

@@alasdyali20 oh, and a roast implies that there is truth to the matter. A joke is usually making up something up to bring laughter or amusement... work out the difference before trying to start shit next time.

Me stopping at the black suit 😂
Wow, this guy seems super knowledgeable, I bet he’s really good with children as well 👍
It’s part of the service
I only own a black with a even darker square pattern on it, looks great. I wear it with a grey silk shirt, no tie. Black watch (Either my Withings classic/smartwatch or when I feel really, really fancy I will wear my Frank Muller Loes van Delft watch) with a black vulcanic rock bead bracelet. Last but not least, black medium high Van Lier relatively pointy, relatively slick shoes.
I personally believe, that getting yourself in a good shape makes you look far better than even the best suit.
I said the same thing during my interview at Macy's! I was in killer shape and went nude to the interview and they acted like I was the problem! I'm not dressing up, I worked mad hard for my body.
@@tobytoby8495 I bet they will remember you for a long time!😄 my thought is that even low quality suit will look better an a fit body, than the best suit on a blob of a man
@w140 it really wouldn't tho. Expensive custom tailored suits work wonders for people. Crappy suits look crappy on anybody
Nah ima just speed run to the max level suit 💀
I got a shirt with a suit drawing that I take to weddings and shit
after you get a black suit, that's 5 suits you need to get. black, navy, gray, brown, tan. you get those 5 suits, you get yourself 2 white shirts. get yourself 2 cream color shirts.
I'd rather wear jeans and a t-shirt
I’m a bespoke tailor in England, black is for funerals only
Of course it depends on the country/region you're living in.
You can't go wrong with black, fits every situation.
True
And black/white tie.
In America a black suit can be worn to most funerals, weddings, fancy parties, and what not. If its a “formal” occasion you can wear a black and white suit probably.
Never ask a salesman what you need cuz he gon tell you you need everything.
Pimp Purple
It takes a bold man to rock a purple suit
I would never advise a bespoke black suit. They seem only appropriate at funerals and weddings. Blues, grays, checks, stripes etc are all good but most black suits are underwhelming, don't accessorize as well and generally look played out.
I wonder if it’s an age/location thing. I’m from the Midwest and in my 30s and would 100% go black suit first because if I only had one suit that would work for any occasion
@@profoundlypointlessCompletey agree. From the Midwest and black suits are the staple.
If you don't own a suit and will only buy one, it's probably going to be mostly for funerals and weddings.
@@hhill5489 I think that's why he says to get a black one first. You gotta cover the very basic first. Like, if you wanna get really good at basketball, the first thing you have to do is get a basketball
I'm a daily suit wearer, I'd say that Black is overrated outside of the Classic Menswear community and underrated within it - Black suits are common, therefore you see them worn badly all the time because most people wear their suit badly and most people are in black suits, I think if a Black Suit was made Bespoke with interesting but subtle details(perhaps have it double breasted, peak lapelled or having a roped shoulder just to give it some spark whilst staying appropriate for the most formal of situations) it could be worn in most situations - either formal or just evening.

I don't even wear suits to marriages, imagine owning 10 of them.
my sisters marriage i came in wearing hand me downs
People with money just absolutely love wasting it
I actually prefer this to Steve Harvey’s advice where he said to buy 4 suits that can all be interchanged to make 16 suits, because while all the suits look good, not everyone can pull off dual colour suits.
His new clothing line is named “Plenty of consent” 😂😂
Purchasing a black suit as a first suit is the worst advice you could give a man. This guy isn't a tailor.
navy or black/charcoal is solid first suit colors. black can be worn with anything and almost for every formal occasion. bc it’s black for fucks sake. it’s the yang of neutral colors.
apart from the fact he is, and one of the best in the world
Yea I’m going to listen to the random in the comments instead of the guy who has made suits for celebs, presidents and royalty ok bud
Don't really care who he is... Black is the most serious color in a suit. It basically for funerals
His suits don't even fit him. And he's wearing a tiebar with a waistcoat. And his tie bar is far too big. Big personality but poor clothing
Yeah I checked out some of his work online. Pretty atrocious.
There’s definitely a reason he’s done suits for royalty and very high class costumers
@@aebersoldbjj who has he made suits for then?
@@Spankee99 Cant name everyone off the top of my head but know for a fact for Bill Clinton, George W bush, Bruno Mars, David Bowie and a bunch of other celebs. I had heard he also had for Prince (now king) Charles but not sure, look it up. He’s very renowned
@@aebersoldbjj I looked this up and it sounds like Bush, Bruno Mars, David Bowie, and Clinton worked with his father not him.
It seems misleading to say that he was their tailor. Especially when Bush was known to have a much more involved tailor in DC.
Besides that we should judge him based on his own advice. Saying that your first suit should be black is such hilariously bad advice that you should distrust almost everything he says.
I'd go black, blue, dark grey, blue pinstripes and then probably beige or light blue.
Rn I got 3 dark blue suits in rotation for work. Could wear all of them to a wedding too though.
For my sisters wedding I got a mintgreen one, which was an eyecatcher. Lots of people had asked me, where I got it from.
Suits do a lot to your confidence. You start acting differently, chest more out, straught back - it just feels nice to look great yk
Don't buy a black suit. They look terrible.
Get a charcoal one instead. Way more versatile and you won't look like you're going to a funeral.
The guy also forgot to talk about fabrics. A navy wool suit and a navy linen suit are completely different looks.
No
At best you look like you're attending a funeral, worse you're a waiter.
@@pottingsoil you are objectively wrong
Sam's Tailor, which operates in Hong Kong. This man has designed and tailored suits for the British royalty, United States presidents, and countless celebrities.
@@graybonesau So have I and many of those who I have worked with. You must of missed the part where I stated I worked for Brooks Brothers before I opened my own firm. Just about everyone on Capital hill wore and may still do Brooks Brooks. They have a custom or MTM department and that is the department I worked in.
So not sure what your point is in with this statement as you will never see a US president wear a black suit out of its designated role because that was the color that President Lincoln was assassinated in, which also happened to be in Brooks Brothers suit.
@@KILLJOY375 Thats cool but you asked where he came from and you got your answer. He's not some random tailor.
