You're the first person that's ever done a video of this. Thank you sir! Seems like it is a commom issue on these vehicles. I have to do mine today and get it replaced. I will do the hose as well. Good call!
Thank you for the video. The T portion where the hose fits blow off and a bunch of fluid leaked out. I pushed it back in w/o getting a new T fitting, and I was able to drive the vehicle home and do a couple of errands. The T fitting failed again, and now I feel confident to repair it myself.
Thank you so much for this video! I just found this leak on my 08 Tahoe and have googled every word I could think of to find help in repairing this. Finally I came across your video! Now I can get this issue fixed.
Same shit, Sunday 45 miles from home.. Good thing i got family that came to my rescue and towed my yuk back home. Gmc should be ashamed. Cheap ass hoses.
Thank you so much. I looked everywhere on how to replace the hose. I my Yukon happened to break the exact same way. you are the only one that showed how to fix. Again, thank you.
I just replaced ALL heater core, over flow lines and 3 "T" fittings on my 2004 Z71 Suburban. 186,000 mi. It was easy since the heater core "t's" snapped right off. The lines and fittings cost me around $50. Most expensive part was the 2 gallons of Dexcool st $17 a gallon, California prices.
Nice video, I might suggest that an inspection of All coolant hoses should be done. If one has failed, others are getting close as well. While your at it coolant replacement is optional, since I don't know the mileage of the vehicle, just a pro active approach. It would be an interesting video for those in the colder climates.
Did this on our 2005 Yukon. However all I replaced was the O ring that was leaking. Like .25 at local carquest. Unless it’s cracked, that plastic tee is fine. Just the Oring leaks.
Great video!... my wife's tahoe just pised all over the driveway, part was available on the shelf at autozone for 19.99 everything disconnected and connected very easily. I didn't cut the hose though I took the keeper clip off the old part and placed it on the new one and connected well.
Daniel Castaneda what tools did you use? When you mention that you bought the part at AutoZone, what exactly was the part? The hose only or the t fitting too?
Elizabeth Quez I just bought the T fitting at AutoZone. No need to cut the hose it has a quick disconnect fitting. unless is leaking from the hose then you replace it. My wife's Tahoe was leaking from the O ring on the T fitting.
The main problem is flexing the plastic T the hose can handle being a little bent down by the engine. I just bought everything brand new this one time only. And sometimes I wonder if the engine flexing. Perhaps a bad motor mount twists everything further sitting in that bracket perhaps you're right rerouting it entirely away from the engine is the way to go
Should of bought a quick disconnect hose end fitting too. That would be a more secure connection to the T and given you the extra few inches you needed
Wrong that’s why they break it’s the quick connect that breaks and if you used a worm clamp instead of a spring clamp then that’s why it probably slid off
Hi JoDaddy. It fails due to the fact they want it to sadly. If it was mine and I wanted to keep it I would make a hanger for both hoses at the firewall to keep them from riding on the plastic fittings like GM should have done. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Bobby
Mine did the exact thing today. Stupid design. I just did like you and cut old end off and clamped hose on the fitting. Didn’t go back with the or oe line or new quick connector. They leak and break and don’t even come off quick or easy. Should I be ok that way?
Why are we connecting a hose to a connector that goes onto another connector that goes onto the heater core tube??? Mine broke and of course was a PITA to get off even the first quick connect. Then I just put the hose on the T and it's done...
I have the same issue with my Tahoe. I just replaced mine today and its still leaking in the same spot. Mine is leaking on the connect portion closest to the firewall. Do you have any suggestions?
Sigh... Mine broke off into the hose. Trying to change it I broke it in two more places...and it's still connected. I'm so not mechanical I just break things more :( I guess I'll get a tow truck and have someone with know how do it. Some people might think it costs more but it'll save me money not breaking things!.
So my hose snapped a month ago, to fix it I bought a new plastic connection and just cut about an inch and a quarter from the hose from where it snapped, now that was the perfect solution until it came loose in the middle of the freeway, now I’m thinking what in the world, so I putted the hose back and added water, after that the engine kept overheating, at this point I’m freaking out but I manage to barely make it home, the next day the engine didn’t overheat at all, now I’m confused, maybe it was just air trapped that made it overheat after the hose came off, at any rate I changed the thermostat and made sure the hose was properly in place and it’s been a month and more than a thousand miles and no issues with the hose and truck running very well, I even made a trip to Stockton and back which is about 330 miles each way.
Thank you for the upload. Question? I have electrical wires that are sitting on top of the heater hose at the fitting. I know it gets hot there, should I cover them with conduit? I was told those wires are pretty resistant to heat
awesome thanks. I just picked my son up from school and came out to a puddle, I new it was too much to be from the a/c. got home and it was steaming and drainimg water from that same hose.
Is it common for this piece to keep going out? I have replaced it twice already and I'm about to go for a third time. Idk maybe I'm doing something wrong
I have to tell you it was not November 21 2017 when you put this up because by my date today is 1/26/2017 so can I get some of what your on lol. But thanks for the info.
lol It's all good liked your video helped me out I just changed my heater core and when I pulled that quick connect off I had found one o ring on the ground and was told they have three so I must of lose them in the motor lol not sure where I can get them do you know?
For others wondering, it helps if you apply light pressure to the Tee fitting in the direction of the firewall while squeezing the two plastic tabs before pulling towards the front of the vehicle. It's tight but if you work it back and fourth lightly a few times it'll come off.
Sgt. Hollow Point my brother helped me. We basically just cut the lower connected where it meets the hose and then bought a new hose and some hose clamps.
Sgt. Hollow Point I am fixing this now in our 2007 Tahoe I just got on the engine and used both hands up on the fitting and pushed the quick connectors together and pulled it off. I didn't need any tool to get the t fitting off.
Ant special trick to get the quick disconnect off? Think i busted every damn finger and the damn thing wont come off. Think its time to sell this shit box.
What in the world??!! You said November 21st 2017!!!! Are you in the future??😂😂 in the other hand, this exactly happened to me, question; what happens if you have a short hose?? Because I cut mine just like you did.
This is exactly what happened with my 2008 Suburban. I came looking for a video before going to a mechanic. Thanks!
You're the first person that's ever done a video of this. Thank you sir! Seems like it is a commom issue on these vehicles. I have to do mine today and get it replaced. I will do the hose as well. Good call!
Thanks, my friend. My wife and daughter were stranded a couple hours ago and your video helped me out. Thanks again!
Thank you for the video. The T portion where the hose fits blow off and a bunch of fluid leaked out. I pushed it back in w/o getting a new T fitting, and I was able to drive the vehicle home and do a couple of errands. The T fitting failed again, and now I feel confident to repair it myself.

This exact issue just happened to me 5 mins ago at an intersection Thankfully able to limp to the gas station. Thanks for the upload!
Thanks gentlemen for TH-cam demo. Didn't turn out to be a CF. Things actually went smoother than anticipated.
Thank you so much. I looked everywhere on how to replace the hose. I my Yukon happened to break the exact same way. you are the only one that showed how to fix. Again, thank you.
Sitting in a parking lot fixing mine. Thank you for this video! Much appreciated!
Had the same thing happen yesterday. I just put the hose in the overflow tank and drove it home no problem. Now time to fix it.
That's actually pretty smart! Wouldn't folding the hose in half and holding it that way with a zip tie also work?
Literally using your video as a guide on my 07 Tahoe!! Thanks!!❤️
Thanks man 3 years ago and i still send your vid as a reference to fix this issue.
I'm using this video for the exact same thing right now. Thank you for posting this.
Don't worry about marks on the hose the very important is the hose is not to Short
I just replaced ALL heater core, over flow lines and 3 "T" fittings on my 2004 Z71 Suburban. 186,000 mi.
It was easy since the heater core "t's" snapped right off. The lines and fittings cost me around $50. Most expensive part was the 2 gallons of Dexcool st $17 a gallon, California prices.
thx dude - you have given me the confidence to flush my heater cores
Thanks man the Tee was such a pain too get off... until i found a way to stick my hands in n easily pull it out....
See a lot of TH-cam but this clip show the right way.
Thanks to your video I was able to fix my Suburban. Same thing happens to me. Thanks
Nice video, I might suggest that an inspection of All coolant hoses should be done. If one has failed, others are getting close as well. While your at it coolant replacement is optional, since I don't know the mileage of the vehicle, just a pro active approach. It would be an interesting video for those in the colder climates.
Good idea. I know the engine was replaced with a crate engine about 40,000 miles ago. The coolant looks very fresh.
Very nice vid. 08 tahoe here 26 degrees in Alabama. Saw ur fix. Great job. Thx again
Showed me exactly what I needed!!!! Thanks!
I’m in a parking lot now with this issue going to take the quick connect off and clamp it. thank you
This just happened to my brother in law. On Friday the 13th lol. Thanks to your video a quick run to Napa and he was back up and running. 🍻
Did this on our 2005 Yukon. However all I replaced was the O ring that was leaking. Like .25 at local carquest. Unless it’s cracked, that plastic tee is fine. Just the Oring leaks.
Hey brother your video helped me alot i just did the same thing to my gmc and it worked no leaking anymore thanks
Thank you for the video...exact same issue here 2008 Suburban 1500 thank you
Good that you got it fixed. At least you were at the auto parts store.
Great video!... my wife's tahoe just pised all over the driveway, part was available on the shelf at autozone for 19.99 everything disconnected and connected very easily. I didn't cut the hose though I took the keeper clip off the old part and placed it on the new one and connected well.

Elizabeth Quez I just bought the T fitting at AutoZone. No need to cut the hose it has a quick disconnect fitting. unless is leaking from the hose then you replace it. My wife's Tahoe was leaking from the O ring on the T fitting.
My hose came off, so my husband is trying to figure out how to fix it that's how I ran into this video. Thanks though!
Elizabeth Quez no problem. you can just cut the quick disconnect from the hose and add a clamp just like he did. good luck!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and your family from ours.
Thanks! Same to you and yours!

Thank you my friend you are a life saver
Thank you help me a lot to disconnect the hose👍
Should of bought a quick disconnect hose end fitting too. That would be a more secure connection to the T and given you the extra few inches you needed
I agree, my truck was set up just like he said to do it when I bought it. but over time the hose slip right off, even with a clamp on.
Wrong that’s why they break it’s the quick connect that breaks and if you used a worm clamp instead of a spring clamp then that’s why it probably slid off
ty ...it helped me fix my suburban!!!
I just ran into the same exact problem.. thanks a lot

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Bobby
Good advice. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well.
same thing happened to me yesterday with my 2012 Denali. damn I was stuck for 2 hours till I fixed it
This is the best!!!!! And i mean the best video on how to fix this problem. Thanks man.
Mine did the exact thing today. Stupid design. I just did like you and cut old end off and clamped hose on the fitting. Didn’t go back with the or oe line or new quick connector. They leak and break and don’t even come off quick or easy. Should I be ok that way?
I've been running mine like this.
Thank you! Exactly the info I needed.
Do o-rings go inside the t-fitting or did you already have them on the lines?
They were already there.
Why are we connecting a hose to a connector that goes onto another connector that goes onto the heater core tube???
Mine broke and of course was a PITA to get off even the first quick connect. Then I just put the hose on the T and it's done...
Paul Huwa have you had any problems since then???
So if my T fitting is leaking do i just change that? Because i already fixed my hose 3months ago
Yes. Change the t if it’s bad.
My 08 escalade just had this happen will this be only thing wrong and why its overheating ? Or does this mran i need a water pump or thermostat also ?
A broken fitting will cause overheating for sure.
great video! do I need the quick connect to repair this issue?
Not unless it's broken at the T fitting. You can buy a direct replacement hose that would match the original from GM.
Thanks!! Got it all fixed!!
I have the same issue with my Tahoe. I just replaced mine today and its still leaking in the same spot. Mine is leaking on the connect portion closest to the firewall. Do you have any suggestions?
Can't offer much advice. You replaced the fitting and hose? Is the firewall fitting damaged?
What is the name and or part number for the hose connector that connects from the hose into the “T” connector?
Sorry. Don't know.
Thank you for this video.
Sigh...
Mine broke off into the hose. Trying to change it I broke it in two more places...and it's still connected.
I'm so not mechanical I just break things more :(

It had air in the system.
Thank you for the upload. Question? I have electrical wires that are sitting on top of the heater hose at the fitting. I know it gets hot there, should I cover them with conduit? I was told those wires are pretty resistant to heat
The wires are very heat resistant. If you just want some piece of mind you could add something.
Jo Daddy's Garage Thank you very much. I’ll wrap some of that conduit just for piece of mind. Thank you again
November 21st 2017?!!😳
I knew time travel was possible lol😂
Joking.....really like your videos
Ha! Didn't even notice. At least you're paying attention!
I know how that goes had something along the same are you going to leave the line or put on a factory line.
I'm going to leave it the way I have it now. The quick disconnects are only there for easy assembly anyway.
Thks that would help me for my 2000 tahoe
Do you have the part number for the 3 way connector?
I believe this correct. From NAPA. NOE 7305659
thanks for the vid, have you had any issues with using regular heater hose as a fix?
No issues so far.
awesome thanks. I just picked my son up from school and came out to a puddle, I new it was too much to be from the a/c. got home and it was steaming and drainimg water from that same hose.
fixed, still going to buy the real hose. but thanks for the quick fix!
What tool did you use to remove the T fitting that was already on the car ?
I basically worked it loose with my fingers. Just squeezing the white tabs.
@@JoDaddysGarage I'm currently trying to take that off I've been at it for 40 min I'm about to start crying I can't seem to get it off
@@whyisthisnottyping I'm sorry it's giving you a a hard time. Wish I could help.
your Napa stocks parts ???? everything I ever need they have to order it at the one near me .
Ours is also a car care center. Pretty well stocked.
The fitting in the block is stronger
Is it common for this piece to keep going out? I have replaced it twice already and I'm about to go for a third time. Idk maybe I'm doing something wrong
It is odd. Seems like it would be better off with something supporting the weight of the hose.
Good job man.
Will that clamp keep it from leaking
It has been for a while now. Results may vary.
@@JoDaddysGarage cool thanks I just put a clamp on for now
Thank you
I have to tell you it was not November 21 2017 when you put this up because by my date today is 1/26/2017 so can I get some of what your on lol. But thanks for the info.
Yeah... I had some other comments.. Not sure what I was thinking...
lol It's all good liked your video helped me out I just changed my heater core and when I pulled that quick connect off I had found one o ring on the ground and was told they have three so I must of lose them in the motor lol not sure where I can get them do you know?
I don't.
Nice vid!
Just happened to me, hose broke off just like that. luckily I was by my house.
I really didn't see how you took the T Piece off, not just on your Video, but on the others, I need to see the entire process.
Sorry, The space is so limited. I guess if you can look at the new one, and envision what needs to happen to release that may help.
For others wondering, it helps if you apply light pressure to the Tee fitting in the direction of the firewall while squeezing the two plastic tabs before pulling towards the front of the vehicle. It's tight but if you work it back and fourth lightly a few times it'll come off.
Exact same thing just happened to my 07 Tahoe.
Steven Blea how did you remove the "quick connect"??
Special tool??
Sgt. Hollow Point my brother helped me. We basically just cut the lower connected where it meets the hose and then bought a new hose and some hose clamps.
Sgt. Hollow Point I am fixing this now in our 2007 Tahoe
I just got on the engine and used both hands up on the fitting and pushed the quick connectors together and pulled it off. I didn't need any tool to get the t fitting off.

Did I miss were he replaced the connect
Just happened to me thanks
nice Video but I would have like to see you do the work
It was difficult as I was not prepared to actually make the video. Sorry.
thanks, 05 tahoe the t is leaking
Funny my wires under those hose are exposed also where the coolant can hit it when leaking.
Thxs you
perfect!
Super!!
Time travel?
Every night while I'm sleeping....
