I think those SM players misunderstood something that was shown in this Vid since apparently none of them know what's going on: 1. this song is Mei Another (one of the hardest song on BM, among the top 3) done in Random, he bagged it with AAA, and not far from his Rival's (possibly an internet ranker) score neither. 2. This is done in Hard (HP depicts, one single note miss drops 10% in HP shown in 01:24 and it's instant game over when it reaches zero), this is especially hard on Mei cause....
There was but that wasn't around until like 6th mix (not entirely sure on when, but it is a relatively new thing in 5 key). what i was saying was they were playing since like 2nd mix where center play wasn't even thought of.
Three words: Glove's Stepmania Gym. And there are certainly even HARDER charts than that for SM, but those players play more for endurance and speed than accuracy (despite having almost godlike accuracy already).
...Depends on what method you want to play it. First off, it's a Japanese game (primarily on PS2) so you'll need a Japanese or a modded console to play them at all. You can pirate the discs if you don't want to pay hundreds for them all. Controllers range from lower-quality ones at around $50-100 or high end ones up to $500 or more. Or you can just get a simulator (like Lunatic Rave 2) and download the song files and play it with your keyboard on PC (or a controller if you use an adapter).
The only reason is because he is playing hard mode. Play it on regular and spamming can actually mean the difference between pass and fail in some songs for me.
A lot the great IIDX players have been playing since the old 5 key days where you didn't have the option to left hand scratch at all so they got used to that and just got used to playing 7 keys with the right hand scratch. There are a few good players that play 1P side but i just can't remember any off the top of my head.
Since Totoro / Ebifly quit Lunatic Rave 2 / nazobm / beatmania IIDX & Tetris The Grandmaster... Do you know what he did after? Just curious because another famous player back then which quit (1048) changed into a fashion designer / fashion businessperson, so actually btw these games are not 'addictive' like many people quit and change to other goals. Another person which quit btw is Michael Jordan! He changed from basketball to baseball (it's true I collected basketball cards as a kid so I knew what the famous basketball players did). Many people quit and change to something else just FYI ^^. So it's not about " career " or " money " or " addiction ", it's about skills and goals sometimes. ^^
>Do IIDX players even know what a jack is? Where do you think the term came from? 5key Beatmania charts, especially the evil ones, are filled with jack-hammers.
@pokemonranger21 just did a little research, yes that is EBIFLY, 2nd place in the first Bemani Cup IIDX Department (1st place is SILVER *FINE, from what I know is that guy retired at the competition), he is also LIFULL in DJ Trooper DJT Nation TOP(Sakura, Scorpion Fire, Sense2007)
TOTORO was wonderful in his time and day, he AAA'd this song with a symmetrical playstyle and without sudden+, that's how to play this game, but it was impossible to FC, even Dolce couldn't FC it, finally RAG did with the Saryou-Hins playstyle. Aside from that, Mei has finally higher than A scores in one hand play th-cam.com/video/VUaNgC9UH9s/w-d-xo.html
This version is not EMPRESS. It''s IIDX GOLD. Another IIDX sounded GoldRush on the best timing. When TOTORO overs 17 combos ,Michal warms up for scream "GOOOOOOLD!!!". He said "G..GoG...GOLD!!".
He will have to learn a few combinations. Get some huge underarms to drill on 1 spot and not move his fingers from the keys. Thats not so hard... now is it? =)))
the death zone from 1:35-1:43, which when in IIDX 14th Style, that song only has 22% clear-rate when it's played in hard because of this part. 8 out of 10 player would fail, even internet rankers 3. SM players have underestimated the difficulty of IIDX too damn much, try anything lvl 11 or above without autoscratch and tell me SM is way harder, having a turntable makes a world of difference.
P.S. I would like to add, if those cocky SM players think that they are so much better than some tatsujins on the internet, where is your vid? p.p.s. first comment about his rival, I just realized, the red line is not really a set rival, it's the nation's highest @_@ 3690, his is 3613.... wow...
Even if this is a rhythm game, you can't compare it to Guitar Hero or, say, Rock Band. Completely different games with different gameplay style and audience.
Beatmania is the reason that games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band even exist. Same for DDR and any other modern rhythm game. Beatmania came first and paved the way
Of course IIDX players know what jackhammers are why I own an actual jackhammer itself that vibrates very quickly to break concrete (speed in its purest form). I think if I got my jackhammer to play IIDX it would be better than DOLCE in a week since all you need to AAA Mei is the ability to vibrate very fast. My name is MinaciousGrace and I'm a fucking moron.
True you may be faster, but this guy has better timing/reading ability. If he put his time (unwisely) into SM he would stomp everyone flat. TPS doesn't mean much compared to the technical skill this requires
@alexegg - EBIFLY was also one of the best players at Tetris The Grandmaster (arcade version), there's videos of him finishing the game and playing the " invisible mode " part after the game has finished where you can't see any of your pieces. Tetris and IIDX are similar, like constant small progress, climbing a staircase. Back then when you uploaded this video he was probably one of the only people in the world which could AAA Mei, however these days it's common and not special anymore. It changed to clearing Overjoy >_>. Regardless, IIDX is still a great music game if you enjoy your rivalry. ^^
I should make an IIDX conversion chart for blue planet to really drill the difference in skill into your heads, you think 200 bpm bracketing is fast? Have fun with 294 bpm bracketing oh did I mention the jacks? Do IIDX players even know what a jack is? Underlying point being that if we switched games it would take him many times longer to reach my skill on SM than it would take me to reach his skill on IIDX and if you throw money on the table I'd be willing to do it
that SM doesn't rival IIDX difficulty ever, that files in SM can't rival the difficulty of IIDX files even in theory, or that it's not a different kind of difficulty? o.O
I mean I could invent a rhythm game that has 15 keys and forces you to hit within a 10ms timing window and call it the hardest game in the world but the fact of the matter is it wouldn't be hard if you're only hitting one note per second And I take back what I said, that dude would have to improve his reading, the difference between comfortably reading 200 bpm 16th bracketing across 8 keys and 300 bpm 16th jumpstream across 4 is incomprehensibly vast to someone like you
Stepmania does not have a turntable, and the same 4 fingers are not on the same 4 buttons throughtout the whole play through. I honestly don't see comparing the BPM shows the difficulty of the song... it's not like you're not using a Speed modifier anyways.
hmm..guitar hero IS pretty much child play, just depends on getting use to once you are decent at bemani games whats the point if you cant feel the rhythm while playing a rhythm game :P bemanistyle all the way :D
uhh no he wouldn't, apparently you don't understand what real technical skill is Say for example we both decided to switch games, I would have to adjust my reading and muscle memory but the game would seem slow because the fastest stuff you play on IIDX is less than HALF the bpm of what you would play in upper tier SM. I just have to bring more fingers into play, and while he may not have to improve reading or timing he has to improve his PHYSICAL speed, something which takes YEARS to develop
@xDnoon I think I do understand. You play these games so you feel offended when I say this guy would be great playing an instrument since you believe that correlates to me saying this game is a waste of time. On the contrary, I play these games too and enjoy them... I just also play an instrument and felt this guy could do the same and would be great if he was as dedicated to it as he is to this game. =) No hard feelings I hope. Touhou is awesome too btw.
Spamming works in DJ Max. But I can't see how it would work at all in Beatmania IIDX. It punishes you for hitting wrong notes and "regular" mode still means you need to pass with an 80% life gauge.
please, there are things in SM that rival this for difficulty :P it's just not the same kind of difficulty when you're making charts with half as many columns
9年前で対称固定で冥AAAとか天才でしょ
Okay, this is just getting insane!
David Roberts
definitely Mei (A) AAA, its kind of myth and legend
@alexegg - Not now in 2023, however. It's quite common now.
I started laughing at :35 when I heard 2DXGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD in the background
Awesome vid

0:36 IIDX GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD !!!!!!111!!!11!1
I think my head just exploded from all of that.___.
He truly deserves to be called a "human sequencer" for sure...
There was but that wasn't around until like 6th mix (not entirely sure on when, but it is a relatively new thing in 5 key). what i was saying was they were playing since like 2nd mix where center play wasn't even thought of.
This video makes Freebird on Expert Play in Guitar Hero look like child's play.

Wow ! Are you a human-being ? What you've done is just impossible ! Congratulations !
Three words: Glove's Stepmania Gym.
And there are certainly even HARDER charts than that for SM, but those players play more for endurance and speed than accuracy (despite having almost godlike accuracy already).
that's insane, kudos to you friend!
Actually (according to remywiki) this song had the most notecounts at the moment (more than 2000) so it`s not surprising)
All I can say is don't ever get in a poking contest with this guy...
insanity pure insanity
i wish there was alot more IIDX machines in North America
IIDX GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!
OMG! A 1 K FOR MEI... UR LIKE SO PRO
...Depends on what method you want to play it.

Would love to try but I don't think we have those arcade machines anywhere near :(

totoro is the best O_O
haha
can someone give me a site to download firescorpion and this song
i love it
GOOOOOOOOOOOLD!!
Except for the part where we're talking about custom stepmania charts vs. official IIDX charts.
Since Totoro / Ebifly quit Lunatic Rave 2 / nazobm / beatmania IIDX & Tetris The Grandmaster... Do you know what he did after? This is possible to pass. He's not spamming.
not to mention, it's the first.
I dunno. I'm right handed and I play on the left side. My left hand controlls the disc, 1 and 2 keys. my right hand does the rest
..hmm, i see, one moar question, how much duz it cost? :P
...that was a close one.
>Do IIDX players even know what a jack is?
Where do you think the term came from? 5key Beatmania charts, especially the evil ones, are filled with jack-hammers.

gitaroo man forms a good middle ground

th-cam.com/video/VUaNgC9UH9s/w-d-xo.html
Playing 200BPM song on 3.0x HS modifier...That alone is hard enough.
I dunno, maybe maybe not. I'm left-handed and I play on the left side. I guess everyone has their own playing preferences.
This version is not EMPRESS.
It''s IIDX GOLD.
Another IIDX sounded GoldRush on the best timing.

@CRAPPUCCInoo yeah i forget that 888 is on DDR not IIDX
totoro is the best u_u
@CRAPPUCCInoo 876? have you heard , DJ Technorch - 888 ?
I'd say because the majority of players are right-handed.
タイトル日本語訳ワロタ
Errrrrrr.....is this a person, or a cyborg??
P.S. I would like to add, if those cocky SM players think that they are so much better than some tatsujins on the internet, where is your vid?

Whatever. It's still 2 to 1 on whether it's lame or not.
*Stepmania player looking into the Beatmania world*
Too hard *runs*
Why the hell is everything so hard? O.O
And I thought SM got tricky >.>''
@vox4ever DJ Shrimp is just.... god
@Renevatia iidx all the way
bemani? a style of life!
Beatmania came first and paved the way
1084 combo!!
Seriously, WTF?!
I thought right handed players are at there best P1 side... So that there right hand can cover the most button's, instead of just the scratch and 2/3.
Of course IIDX players know what jackhammers are why I own an actual jackhammer itself that vibrates very quickly to break concrete (speed in its purest form). known as DJ EBIFLY in 12th style , and EBIA in 13th style.
records holder of songs like Mei(A) and Scorpion Fire A)

What's a Blue Planet my favorite IIDX song is Pa Pi Pu Yeah
holy crap...
now dragonforce on expert doesnt seem so bad
Holy shit

@vox4ever
It could be... under an alias...
I play Stepmania. IIDX looks way harder.
Why are all the good japanese players P2 side... coincidence?
HOLY FUCK
@MinaciousGrace So buddy, have you AAAd this song in IIDX yet? Probably not... haha
hmm..guitar hero IS pretty much child play, just depends on getting use to once you are decent at bemani games
whats the point if you cant feel the rhythm while playing a rhythm game :P
bemanistyle all the way :D
@xStarOcean Spamming will only make you fail faster. This game is unforgivably strict.
"spamming" key presses makes you look a bad :S
Insane. Why not go play it on the guitar or piano though? With all the time you've spent on this I'm sure you could be great.
lmao sup patashu
sorry guys top tier SM players will hit higher TPS with only 4 fingers
this guy is slow compared to us
uhh no he wouldn't, apparently you don't understand what real technical skill is

well, this destroyed my conception of difficulty in gituar hero, so what is this? some kind of dj hero game?
WHAT.
THE.
FUCK.
meme
2 words : Custom BMS.
Yeah. Sorry pall, DDR can't beat IIDX in difficulty.
MinaciousGrace I recommend you actually try iidx before attempting to make anymore stupid and arrogant comments.
!?
You want a REAL rhythm game like IIDX. SM is for wimps.
spoiler: all rhythm games are lame
