Why I'm sick of the Neutech Tubeless System, all mousse for now

Lol alot if little things summed up to be 3 things.
Not trying to knock you... but... before each ride, do you not check fuel? Oil levels? Chain slack? Lever function? Air filter? Look for fork oil leaks? Eye ball the brake pads? Check fasteners to still be tight?
The lack of desire you present in regard to checking tire pressure speaks volumes to me about what position you may have about the other items that you should be spending 5-10 minutes checking before a ride.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. Love content, no matter the strength of it. 😅

The lack of desire to check tire pressure speaks volumes? You might be reading into it a bit much. Plus, you’re making my argument for me. If before each ride you’re checking every nut and bolt on the bike, wouldn’t it be nice to not have another thing to check?
All I’m trying to accomplish in this video is saying why I personally like mousses better. Relax

@Troy Hill great that you shared your opinion.
I check everything before and after a ride. I even check some things during a stop, especially if there have been river crossings.
I disagree that the time it takes to check tire pressures, and to bring a pump with you, as being qualifiers to not use the product.
You're in for an expensive surprise if you don't maintain that mousse, which can be just as finicky, and more expensive with its shorter life span. For example, have to keep your tires in the air to prevent warping the mousse when bike is parked for long durations. The silicone gel lubricant needs to be reapplied continuously. I'm personally running tublis is the rear and UHD tube on the front. The plan is to replace the UHD tube with a mousse that fits the skinko fatty. Think it's the nitromousse 235 I need for the 90/100 21 fatty. Plan is I'll be drilling, threading, and installing grease zerts on the rim in 3 or 4 places so I can easily add more grease between rides.
Keep in mind my rides are in the mountains with rivers, muskeg, mud, puddles, stones, tree trunks, and they typically go for 4 hours a run two runs a day. So yeah I'm particular about maintenance and bringing tools so when things break I don't have a 6 hour hike in bear country to get help.
As far as making your point for you. Well maybe. My position is these are complicated expensive toys. Be it the old kx250, kdx220, cf450, or newer kx450, or exc500, and the reason the 1995 kx250 still works is from being taken care of.
Sure I cheat a bit and use locktite on screws so I don't have to check them all the time, but I still check them before a ride. And I when able (don't travel with a power wash) but when able I wash the bike and inspect it all over.
The mousse costs more than tublis from what I've found in reviews. Tublis can run for years if maintained. Mousse no matter how much you do to maintain it will likely only last me 1 or 2 years before needing replacement. Though I haven't gone mousse yet so guess the mouth is ahead of where the money is.
      😉

Y'all are not daily riding and it shows, I want a tubeless system for my motorcycle and I am not checking air pressure every morning before I drive to work, y'all would hate a car manufacturer making you check a bunch of stuff before you start a car.
So yeah it's way annoying to check air pressure like it's a bad tire you have to keep inflating

I have been riding for at least 20 years, never had a flat. Lower pressure is the key. These tubless systems heat up and start to degrade. You need to run lube or powder in there to keep the temps down.

Great system, says their are downsides, you check tyre pressures on a dirt unless it's a mousse, the only good thing about a mousse is you can't puncture them, takes about 30s to check tyre pressure,2 mins to put air in

The tube in the tubliss system doesn't cost $100. They are closer to $18. The hack for the wear is putting in salad oil to act as a lubricant - although it has never happened to me. I don't seem to have any of the problems you mention, but lots of people still like mousse. Mousse brakes down and slowly changes over time so, nothings perfect.

TUBliss will send you a free High Pressure but you can also buy them for like $6-$10...LOL When I ran Tubes they were $40 for one for Ultra Heavy Duty. 100,000+ mile son TUBliss in my XR650R when I owned it and it just worked. I've run TUBliss since on other bikes and I only had two issues with a high pressure one was because it was old the other was my fault maybe. However on my 2021 beta 300 it's been great. If I I'm on a trip I toss a tube in my vehicle and rims locks, not hard to take on a trip. Local rides I'm not that concerned with it.
I like that you can balance your rims/tires with TUBliss, that ain't going to work with Bibs.
I'm not against Bibs, just don't see the issues like some see with TUBliss. *shrug* I find TUBliss takes 5 minutes to install the tire on the rim, I never take the TUBliss off once installed unless I change the high pressure which I don't. I toss some TireJect int he tires and no worries about leaks or cactus on the trails.
I think a lot of the issues people have are user error.

Yeah, when I heard him say "you're out $100" I did a double-take. That's what it costs to go buy a whole new kit...which you don't have to do, because the tube itself is $10-12, all over the internet.
Also, how do you figure the price is comparable with mousses? Those cost upwards of $150-180+ per wheel and they're good for 1-2 sets of tires, or at least that's my understanding. Tubliss is around $100 per tire and lasts many, many sets of tires (probably longer than I'll own the bike). Does not compute.

I agree. I found the only tires that worked with tubliss are the Shinkos. Has to be a thick walled tire or it’s prone to punctures & leaks.

I agree that you moving on from Tubliss is the right choice for YOU. All your issues are self induced IMO/IME. #1. You man handle the tires when spooning them on and are not paying attention to where your spoons are grabbing. Slow down, take your time, and don't let yourself lose your cool during installation. It also helps if you warm up and lube your tires as well. #2 You're not out $100 if you pinch the inner bladder. Tubliss offers replacement bladders for all sizes of Tubliss and, if you have one local, I know Cycle Gear actually stocks them. #3. Yes, if you run really low pressure and either ride really fast and/or run a soft sidewall tire, the Tubliss liner will rub against the tire and damage it the liner. The cure for this issue is an 8oz bottle of your standard green Slime as it will provide lubrication between the two.
Not trying to slag on you but it seems your not willing to do the things necessary to have success with the system. Personally, been using the Tubliss system now for over 11 years and well over 1000+ hours. hell, I'm still rocking a Gen I liner that I bought all those years ago! I have used Goldentyre, Shinko, Bridgestone, Maxxis, Tusk, 220 Ride, Pirelli, Sedona, and IRC tires with no issues on any of them except for the Goldentyre GT333 which I strongly recommend against with Tubliss or tubes if you're going to run less than 10psi. The carcass just doesn't hold up.

The tubliss lasts way longer than mousse. Idk how you even flatten that inner tube on tubliss. You have to just be extremely reckless to do that. But even so you can buy the small tube by itself in case you have an accident. The mousse is gonna cost you way more money in the long run cause you’ll be switching them out more. The only thing that sucks about tubliss is if you do actually get a flat. Yes I’ve ran it flat but trying to corner or hit rocks on a flat tire still sucks. To fix that I’m going to cut a mousse in half and run it on top of my tubliss.

How's the mousse on the street?

    • @troyhill1924
      @troyhill1924  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Never tried it, I never ride the drz on the street anymore, also apparently the mousse will degrade at sustained high speed due to the heat that would be generated, plus they’d be impossible to balance I’m sure

    Skill issue. Cry more.
Lets hear your opinion after you wear out a couple tires with a mousse. Talk about a pain to deal with when changing tires. 😂
