    Thank you for the demonstration! My uncle told me about the survivor rocket stove (which I'm going to get), and now I'm also going to get the 304 scout combo for my backpacking gear!

    I do enjoy your videos. I bought two Silver Fire Rocket stoves...one for me and one for my sister...and just yesterday, my new Dragon tent stove arrived. I'm soooo excited! Now I'm going to start saving my money for a SilverFire Scout! Thank you for doing such a great job on explaining the ins and outs of both!

    Yesterday for the first time I grilled pork ribs over a fire fueled by alcohol gel. The flame was very hot and burned clean, no smoke or smell. I was surprised at how efficient a fire made with alcohol really is! Really nice product and great video! Thanks!

    You know, you remind me a lot of me. I think we'd have a lot of fun telling and sharing stories by a fire. You're certainly alright, and I always love your videos.
    Awesome job my man.

    Im a real stove hound. I wanted a gasifier biomass like the Solo or Silver Fire Scout and decided to go with the Scout, which I added to my gear a couple months ago. Going out here in a bit and can't wait to use yhe Scout. Thanks for the video. Greetings from Pittsburgh. Laura

    Hey Jnull, that fire starter is a Magnesium fire starter. You scrape the silver part, in to a small pile if shavings (U.S. Quarter size), then scrape the black part, which should throw sparks, into the pile of shavings, and the magnesium burns as a very hot, but somewhat temporary flame (4-5 seconds). Seems like a great stove, I'd never heard of them, there web site seems great, I'm might have to pick up a few of their things. Thanks for the post.

    I think I would prefer the old design. Those triangular flip-outs are much better. A small pan would sit down into those notches. You see how your pan began to slide off the new design?

    Cool stuff ole bud. might be a nice addition to the car trunk for folks that regulary drive in high wilderness areas. Best thing about it is that 99.9% of the time there is fuel avaible for this stove. no matter what part of TH-cam land you are in. My son and I where backpacking in Oregon we had a film container with vaseline coated cotton balls. It took a spark easily.

    John completely off subject but something I see that could be a major problem for you soon. your goats and chickens have done a steller job clearing out your hillside; too good. when it starts raining hard for a while you may have a mud slide; really think about that; good video by the way

    Like I mentioned....neat rig. Only addition I'd make would be a Reflectix cozey insulator for the cook pot. Makes a world of difference on a cold day. Cheap and weighs nothing.

    Good update to the stove. Maybe Todd could make the pan have a tab to lock it on the stove. Just one tab would work. Other than that looks good.

    Hello good sir! What kind of alcohol do you put with those pellets? I have a scout combo too, But they dont sell the pot anymore, and I love it, but went camping last week in the snow and for the life of me I could not get the FRIGGING pellets to light. I desperately wanted coco. It was super cold, and everything was wet, and my dummy but didnt bring kindling (never not doing again, just in case). I had chocolate, nuts, marshmellows and then pickles way later food for so it was fine and tasty, I'm just still kinda miffed at it. I had whiskey that did NOT wanna help at all, and oddly enough seemed to hinder the pellets. Even with the started stick.

    Well you convinced me...I ordered two of the scouts one for the wife, the other for myself also we ordered the silver fire rocket stove... interesting experience I just opened the rocket stove pulled the handles out of the burn chamber; then I lit the stove with lots of black smoke what was I doing wrong... a call to Todd with what the heck and where were my screws for the handles.?? Well very helpful Todd, needless to say Todd is sending me out my new owners manual with a new set of screws for my handles, anyway needless to say once the plastic and owners manual along with the screws burned off my rocket stove it just sung like a bird. I can hardly wait to see what damage I can cause with the two scouts... well just the one scout I guess the wife says when she gets hers no way am I touching it.!!

    Just me thinking but why not put the hot chocolate powder in your cup, have both servings of water heated same time so you could throw in the oatmeal after making the hot choc and they both be ready at the same time?

    ummm...."removal of sticker under penalty of law"....yeah,..thats it...go with that Jnull...lol...good stove ...wood pellets arent always easy to light or maintain...i mix liquid gel hand sanitizer with my pellets...99% alcohol ...and then you have something to clean your hands after handling all the fuel and mess...

    • @Kimmies991
      @Kimmies991 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just curious, do you let it soak fully in the alcohol then drain..............or do you have a measured out mixture you use? Sounds like a great idea!

    • @swanyut
      @swanyut 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kimmies991 sorry...i said liquid in that comment...it is actually the gel type you squeeze or pump out of the container...i just soak my hands ...grab a handful of pellets and rub them around coating them in my hand...use quickly or like jnull put in baggie ...once they start to ignite...add a few dry pellets...being it is a gel and usually comes in plastic container i find it very safe with no tip/spill concerns..sometimes i will even just squeeze some down on the pellets as they burn for extra insurance to get a good fire going...can also coat cotton balls with gel instead of vaseline for a good flint fire starter material
