    Hecate is primordial. She is the mother of all and at the same time aunt, sister, and daughter. Why did zeus bestow anything ? Because he couldn't even try to acquire anything that she just is. Zeus is but a spark in the massive presence of Hecate. She is ethereal and at a thought she can transform into air and likewise change to an iron mountain. The later gods were more physical or denser form in comparison to Hecates universalness. She is so old that others mistakenly put her on the same level of other gods, when she is way above all. Hecate is every cell of the physical and spiritual worlds. She is everything with a divine intellect ! This is why there's so little known of her, she is beyond our consciousness, hence the symbolism of the dark !

      @@craigathonianiall your description and everything else is correct except for the name, look I am not here to belittle or disrespect anyone be rest assured, I am just stating facts which sometimes can be confusing because of the huge magnitude and diverse nature of ancient pagan religions, Hecate is not the name of the entity you're referring to as, the name of that entity is Nyx, in Indian Hindu religion we refer to her as Ma Adi Parashakti, where Ma as of course you can figure out means mother, Adi means since the beginning of time and Parashakti means ultimate power, her peaceful form is called Parvati and her most intense form is called Kali. Hecate is the daughter of Nyx, if you do not believe me please look up on Google, in some texts Hecate is referred to as the daughter of Nyx instead of Hemera. Anyway, this was no disrespect to your knowledge or belief after all whether knowingly or unknowingly you have been worshipping Nyx so that's what matters the most, Zeus shat in his pants and couldn't even master the courage to enter Nyx's domain, there is no one above her she was never born and will never die she has no beginning and no end Goddess and mother to all. Every religion is very complicated and unless one studies it thoroughly and most importantly feels it to the core he or she is bound to make mistakes confusing names characters et cetera but truth always remains the truth and doesn't need any sorta validation, just wanted to say all this with complete love and respect. Peace ✌🙂.

      Everyone has their own belief systems regarding Mother. His view may not be the same of yours or mines but it's still very valid🥰❤️

    • @EijazAhmed299
      @EijazAhmed299 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @majestix1230 it's not about belief system it's about the ultimate truth, his belief is in the right place he just got the name and the character wrong, like for example if going by Sanatana Dharma if instead of Adiparashakti we say that Durga is the ultimate Almighty, now that is completely wrong contextually, yes Durga is one avatar of the ultimate Goddess but she is not her in her true form so calling her the that would be wrong, similarly according to Greek mythology dear ma Adiparashakti is called Nyx, it's not Hecate, although being the source of every power mother Nyx resides in Hecate too, but calling Hecate Nyx in her true form is completely wrong, I hope this helps you in getting a better understanding of what I am saying, take care.
      P.S. - it really doesn't matter what name he takes though, because at the end of the day he's praying to mother Nyx only, he just got the name and the character wrong and that ain't a sin at all. It's like if a Christian by mistake prayed to the same jesus but by mistake he says joseph instead of jesus, it doesn't matter the entity is the same and that's all that matters, and that's the truth and the truth doesn't require any sort of validation and neither does it require to be assertive got it buddy girl ☺. Take care.

      Hail Hecate! I have my altar entirely devoted to her. My wife felt bad the other day because she tossed our old door key when we changed the locks. She is an atheist herself, but very much supports my beliefs and tries to always respect Hecate as she means a lot to me. Also side not instead of the default exclamation "oh my god" my wife adopted my habit of saying, "By The Gods!!" Or "dear lords..."

    • @witchNwand
      @witchNwand 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @PaleSpiderQueen You're so fortunate. My wife is tolerant at best, she is one of those ' There is only one god' sort even though she hasn't graced a church since the last christening, you know the sort, a hypocrite.
      She's crossed the line a few times with her mouth towards Hekate and has been punished for it, i tried warning her, and Hekate has been soooo patient for my sake.
      At first it was her phone and then her car, 'get the idea' lol ,
      But she's beginning to understand that there is more than one god and gradually learning to keep her mouth shut lol
      That's what centuries of brainwashing from Christianity does in a once pagan country.

    • @PaleSpiderQueen

      @witchNwand it's absurd to me how many of us are still stuck within beliefs crafted by Puritan Christian white men. After all, every human soul had an inate ability to convine with divinity. We just have to listen for their voice, for our Goddess always calls out to those that need her.
      I practice magic and consider myself to be an eclectic witch with a focus on Hecate's Anima-mundi aspect. However, the more I honor the mother of darkness, the more I wish to devote myself to her entirely ✨️

      @@Princess-me6wtChristianity is actually pretty basic and a watered down version of pagan belief systems that existed before Abram. As a pagan myself I'm encouraged to learn about different belief systems and learning about different beliefs is not a threat to my core beliefs or religion. However the same can't be said for Christians. Why is that? Have you ever looked into other beliefs and religious practices? I don't think so. Was it too complicated for you? Simple mind can't comprehend anything complex? Or maybe it's because your religion teaches you that God is jealous and possessive and doesn't trust you to learn anything outside of him without your belief in him being shaken?

      We worship Hekate in our homes and in our hearts.
      As Pagans we are millions strong, and the number grows every year.
      We don't need to go to a church hall to meet up with each other to survive either, as many Hekateans are solitary witches, but Hekate who is omnipresent is always watching over us, reminding us when needed of her presence.

    others advise that she was a pre-historic deity, something that the greeks met there in the region. many cite anatolia as mentioned in the video but because she has such varied origins, it means she is way older than people think. possibly a remnant of older cthonic mother goddess worship that was absorbed into Greece. it makes sense that the "greeks" encountered a very old deity and they worshiped her the only way they knew how

During that time the beginning concept that became Lilith was the mythical lilitu which is a general demoness. Inanna is a goddess and Lilith at the time was regarded as a demoness. Near the end of the Sumerian empire and the beginning of the Akkadian Empire was the time when Abraham, father of Judaism and eventually all Abrahamic religions, started developing his religion and drafting his own version of the creation of man. In this creation Adam was created from clay/dust....and so was his wife, Lilith. She wanted to be equal and be on top during sex. That was eventually unacceptable in Judaism (they weren't always patriarchal or monotheistic) and so they villainized her and she left Adam. Angels followed trying to convince her to submit however she was a slay queen girl boss boots the house down mama to end all slay queen boots house down mamas she refused so they decided to blame her for infant deaths and men's wet dreams.

    Hekate has two main places, where, I suppose, she lived and was connected to: today sicily and her origin today turkey. The cave, where Hades brought Persephone to the underworld is in sicily, also temple and not to forget the three legged trinacria of the sicilians(three fold Hekate). In today turkey she has maybe her oldest and biggest temple complex, which could indicate that infact her origins are in turkey.

      Also, I grew up in Greece and we do have a dedicated lesson to our school system called "μυθολογία" meaning "mythology" around the fourth grade, but we were never taught about Hecate or any other deities who have significant roles but are not as popular as the 12 Olympians Gods. It feels weird not knowing much about Hecate, but learn more about her through a TH-cam video, when I should have been taught in school since we already have classes about the subject. Do you think it's done on purpose?

    • @MystOfMythology
      @MystOfMythology  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@henrietta7534 I wouldn't know for sure Henrietta, but I would say learning about the Olympians was probably a good start, with plenty to fill a class. It's probably that if they did decide to go beyond the Olympians, then who would they choose, maybe Titans, Primordials, muses, creatures or heroes? At the most sinister, it might be that Hecate was said to predate Greek mythology, but I don't think that would be the case. Thanks for the compliment and the interesting question. :)

      The earliest documentation of this in Greek Mythology is from the 8th Century BCE by Homer. The gods commonly associated with witchcraft are Hermes, Hecate, Circe, and Persephone.
      I'm sure there are other records from earlier, likely Mesopotamian, but I have not looked into this specifically.

I’m just a layperson but I’ve learned that the second temple priests in the Bible brought in worshippers of Leviathan-the Levites. Leviathan’s original name was Namma which comes from the Nommo. Hecate can be traced to Egypt’s spiritualities which came originally from Mail, Senegal, and other places in Africa. Papa Legba and Hecate have a lot in common! I love it!

    • @MystOfMythology
      @MystOfMythology  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your comment, William! You bring up a great point about the various Titans and primordial deities who retained their roles after the Titanomachy. I agree that many, like Nike, the Fates, Themis, and others, continued to have significant roles and weren't cast into Tartarus like the main Titans who led the rebellion.
      However, when I mentioned the Titans being "bound to eternal labors," I was referring to how these deities were confined to specific domains or roles within the cosmos. While they weren’t imprisoned in Tartarus, they were still limited to their particular functions-be it as embodiments of concepts like fate, night, or justice.
      Hecate, on the other hand, is unique because she retained broad, autonomous powers over multiple realms (heaven, earth, and sea) and was honored by Zeus for her loyalty. Unlike others, she wasn't confined to a single domain, which sets her apart and highlights her special status.
      So while I appreciate what you’ve said, I was aiming to convey how most of these figures were still "bound" in a different sense. Hecate stands out precisely because she maintained more freedom and influence compared to others after the war.
      Thanks again for the thoughtful discussion!

    • @MystOfMythology
      @MystOfMythology  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Possibly, her origins go back to her Egyptian and even pre-Egyptian heritage, where being black was more likely. The tellings I've referred to are from the Greek Poets, where she would be depicted as Mediterranean. But if we get metaphysical, she was primordial, neither black nor white, but a cosmic power or energy-either formless or any form she chose to be.
      It's good to keep me more mindful of these aspects. Thank you Diane.
