About Me:
I am an experienced artist and tutor, with a life-long love of painting and drawing and a passion for nurturing those skills in others. I derive immense pleasure from helping others to discover the endless joys (and occasional frustrations) of painting, and to progress, whether they taking their first tentative steps or are seeking to develop their technique and style.
I conduct demonstrations and run workshops (in watercolour) and also tutor painting holidays both abroad and in the UK.

Oh what a brilliant tutorial Joanne! I've been wanting to do a mono scene for awhile and when I saw the Prussian Blue, my absolute fav blue, you had me! I would have loved to have seen the reference photo, but maybe there wasn't one --? And the glazing at the end worked like a frame to this quaint scene. OMGoodness, I can hardly wait to give this a go. Thanks again for sharing your immense talent and your time! Blessings from across the pond. xxx

I love the way you teach and paint . Down to earth . To the point . How long do your brushes last? You do abuse them. I’m torn as you have great technique it just rips my heart
Agnes I can be a bit tough on my brushes but I do take care of them when I have finished painting. I never leave them sitting in water and always bring them to a point and store them upright when I have finished with them . I also have lots of old brushes I use a lot especially when I am being rough with them

Hi Joanne, I am very new to watercolour. Just found you this evening and really enjoying your tutorials. My struggle is too much water not enough paint. Just wondering you are cleaning your brush a lot as you go, do you blot it off before you back to get some dark value ? And also when you go in with the clean water to move the dark out, have you removed some water?

Hi Debbie its great to know that you are enjoying the tutorials. The answer is yes, when I clean my brush I swipe it with a clean cloth or kitchen roll this way the brush is wet but not dripping with water.
