Another awesome trip down there bud! Looking forward to the next episode. Really hoping I can make my way down to that trail sometime this year. Been on my list for a good while.
Thanks AJ! I'm looking forward to getting into the mountain sections next year but it won't be as warm so I may have to postpone and go back to the Florida Trail next Feburary. Those low country sections were really fun though!
Rugged Mountain Mister and I were excited to watch this one. Every time you mention the miles Mister is astounded. He finally has a good frame of experiential reference to know how far 20+ miles of hiking really is. You got him with the snake! He thought it was real! Even he was appreciating your drone shots. The one through the trees backwards made him nervous. Getting to your campsite is a glorious feeling when you've reached our limit for the day! We were surprised at the wildlife/death you saw. All we saw was a leg bone of something and some fish bones! Looking forward to the next one!!
Glad you guys enjoyed it! I know when I watch a video of somewhere I've hiked I always like seeing someone elses take on it. Do you have plans to hike some more of it this year?
@@jasonwish- I like watching everyone's different take on the same event to! I hope so, maybe at the end of the year again! Might just pick up where we left off at lake Moultrie!
Thanks, Joel! I know the drone adds so much, but it is the biggest pain in the butt to stop and connect it and fly it, I passed on so many great opportunities to fly but at least I got a little. Part two will be Sunday night!
Thanks Jesse! We had no problems getting across the 301 bridge, because the workers had gone home for the day. We were told by Marie Butler the low country trail coordinator that she had heard of Several people that were getting across even when workers were there and we had heard the same thing. However, we also heard of one instance where they would not let a hiker cross and I think it was due to the type of work they were doing at that time, but he was able to eventually talk his way across. This is all information from mid February so I don’t have the latest and it might be best to contact Marie Butler for the latest info or reach out to the Palmetto Trail Facebook group which seems to always have pretty recent information.
How did his Topos & you're shoes (do you have the same shoe) dry after the water sections? Just curious... I've been looking for a top quality trail shoe that drains/drys well for a while...
We both had the Topo Ultraventure 3's for this trip. They have the best fitting toe box I've ever worn, even better than the Altra's, but they didn't drain particularly quick, they squished for a while but wasn't too bad. The foam they use on the bottom is too squishy, very similar to the Olympus 4. The Ultraventure 2's were and are my favorite shoe, I still have 3 pairs. If you could marry the 3's upper with the 2's lower it would be the perfect shoe in my mind. The best draining shoe I know of is the Lone Peak 6, I still have mine and wore them on the Palmetto last year, but my feat get sore in Altra's after 20+ mile days.
Awesome! Great adventure. ✌️
Thanks Crow! We thought about you while we were out there talking about the triple crown coming up soon.
Another great hiking show Jason. I will check out your others on this trail.
Hey thanks! So nice to hike in the south during the winter, especially since I don’t enjoy the cold anymore 😁

I would love to bikepack that trail one day
I love being down there in the winter. Looking forward to getting into the mountain sections of this trail next year.
Nice video Jason. Nice scenery. Love the drone shots. Looking foward to next part.

Trekking poles ? What happened to the broom handles 😂. Another great jason wish video
Lol, not sure I could hike with the broomsticks 😂. But they certainly came in clutch on that kayak trip! Thanks James!
Great video! Any beta on the 301 bridge? Thanks!

So what's worse? 2 miles of swamp or, 10 miles of horse trail? 🤣
Ha! that's a no brainer, I'll take swamp anyday!!! Screw those darn horse trails 🤣🤣🤣🤣
