IZ, you will never ever be forgotten. YOU I'll Remember You, my dear Friend. Beautiful song. Your beautiful Voice is amazing. RIP IZ. From Ontario, Canada
This song brings back memories of my childhood back on Oahu. My life, my upbringing, relationships, my grandparents, school and more. Mahalo for the memories 🙏🏽
IZ you're always remembered and treasured in our heart though time did not permit us to meet you in this slidy world of ours. May you rest in peace. We love you. From Carlota and family, Cebu Philippines
I deeply love Iz. I first got turned on to his music, near election time in 2012, when Tim Russert died suddenly at work. (NBC). As it was announced, the SOUND at the station went out .... and one of the anchors started to talk. She mentioned that Tim Russert had "Somewhere over the Rainbow" (by IZ) in his IPad. I'd heard the song before a lot of times, but never knew it was "Iz". I began to follow his music, and bought some CDs. A gentle giant, taken early in life, due to complications from Type II diabetes, and obesity. (He tried all the time to lose weight, but somehow believed that his beautiful voice would change if he did.) When he passed, he was the only non-political person to have the Honor of Lying in State at the State House, in Hi. Known as god-like in Hawaii, he was a very special (and highly spiritual human being.) I deeply love Iz. :) (His daughter just had a new baby girl! Iz is a /Grand-dude' in Heaven now!) :)
As an old haole-boy, 70+, i remember Kui Lee! We ALL LOST OUT when he passed so young. Willie K. always made me remember Kui Lee! Iz is just Iz! Perfect is da kine perfect, eh?
IZ will forever live in the hearts of Hawaiians and many of us on the mainland! God blessed him with a short and beautiful life! God keep him always in your loving arms❤️✝️💖
Iz has such a beautiful voice! He will become a legend in Hawaii and around the world! A beautiful man with a kind heart and beautiful spirt. We will remember you IZ💖
I am touched by this arrangement. I first heard this song when Elvis sang it in 1973 from Hawaii. 10 years later I met the grandson of Kui Lee when he entered my music class. Rather spiritual experience.
Iz, I miss you so much, your smile and infectious laugh that will be with me always! When you and your girlfriend and friends would come to visit me in my bar it was all hands on deck to get you all fed. I miss those carefree days..oh and the beach at Waikiki under the banyon tree...sigh..so many good times
Have only been to Oahu Island and were lucky to have stayed in Makaha where you can imagine Hawaii MANY2 years ago Lovely song boys We also ❤ the KOI boys Aloha
Most Hawaii's music comes from the heart and goes to the heart. From: Ka'aina ka'ne .Kimo Harrison Formerly of Kahu-am Radio Waipahu. Ke AKUA me'he Aloha, bro.IZ...🤙🙏R. I. P.
The makaha sons will always remain in my heart, with all honesty, I play them from the time I awake in the morning all thru the day. Never in my life time have I ever heard such harmony. I really feel there are no other singers that can come anywhere near the singing ability they have. Not saying there are no good singers out there because there are.thry sing so beautiful without a lot of effort.like it comes so natural for them.i cryed the very first time I heard iz sing. Truly and angelic voice, there will be no others like the makaha sons.when he sang somewhere over the rainbow 🌈,, if judy garland was still here she would have to agree iz put his own spin on it and made it his own. Wish so much I could have met them. Here comes the tears again 😭😭😭😭 they will always be in my heart and in my home blaring all the time, love you my sweet brothers.
Never in my entire life have a heard such beautiful harmony, voices unheard of, I listen to this song all day long non stop. So very peaceful, I never get tired of it. Wish I could have met each of them. So very sorry for is and John koko passings. How i wish me. Koko could have gotten the heart transplant he needed to live an iz, seemed like such a beautiful person, they both had nice smiles, if they were still with us today, I bet they would still be singing, much love to their families, I know it's been years since their passing ,but I miss them tremendously. Will never for get the makaha sons, truly love them and there music, iz singing somewhere over the rainbow put his own twist on it and sound so much better than the original. They were amazing. How is Jerome and moon doing I wonder. Just thanking the sons for such beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ music.
I first saw the Makaha Sons in Oahu Prison (I was a visitor for a special event (even though I saw one of my HS classmates!)) in 1978. Both brothers were still alive. I thought, "OMG these guys are amaaaazing!"
Hi Lily (From da aina I guess?). I got to see the Elvis version (1973) and Kui himself circa 1966, shortly before he passed. When Elvis died, they did a tribute in Honolulu and the DJ asked what song he should end it with. I called in and said it had to be I;ll Remember You. And so it was. Aloha, Jon

Something very special about Makaha Sons, with Iz even more special. We are delighted that the Sons have reinvented themselves. Moon is retired, John Koko passed a number of years ago, but Jerome has reformed the group with two other musicians and they use the same arrangements and sound wonderful. There's a concert from the Hawaii theatre in Dec. on TH-cam somewhere. Enjoy.

This is absolutely incredible. Over-produced music strives for this quality of vocals on albums, not mentioned live. Just wonderful quality.
Good point about "over-produced" music of today. Notice that there are no electronic foot pedals to "enhance" the instruments or voices.
