It seems to me they slapped Opener Heavy animations on Chain Heavy to make charging in chains possible. On live server conq spins around when doing Chain Heavy, but reworked one just snaps into place without any motion
Should’ve mentioned something about lack of a roll catch and why it’s so important that conq gets one. You can way to easily abuse the fact that you can unlock and roll away from any of conqs neutral mixup.
Devs: so yeah, we removed Orochi's triple light chain, as it was a bit too oppressive, especially on lower levels. Also Devs: so conq has an infinite, omni directional light chain, and that's fine

I mean Ubi really doesnt learn the most important thing With These TGs. There should be 1) a TG training mode where You can actually test the 'rework' without a Duel or Dom Situation or/and 2) a PvAI mode for the TG so You dont have ridicously Long queing times.

I’m a little disappointed that they removed the superior block on unblockable heavy. It was the most satisfying thing to superior block with your unblockable heavy when someone used to light attack or a dodge attack.
They need to add a roll catcher and extend the minimal duration to stay in full block before leaving it, so it forces a read on both ends to either punish with a gb or a dodge attack
Edit: They did actually nerfed it, ignore the comment!!! Another problem u didn't mention is that Conq still has superior block on the full duration on dodges, which allows him to get away with incorrect dodge timings in some situations, and now it even lets him get a 20dmg deflect.
Im happy with his rework but he’s literally a knight kyoshin lol they needa stop giving heroes undodgables and fast recoveries… every hero needs a weakness, it’s unbelievably annoying how dodges are becoming more useless than lawbringer’s bash

Don't know if you missed it or not but they actually decreased his superior block frame window on side dodges. meaning it doesn't cover the length of his whole side dodge now. Very small adjustment that means a lot. Also surprised you didn't mention a lack of chase. As even though both his uncharged heavies and charged heavies have nice range they're still not a substitute for someone who rolls away after back walking.
I hate the fact that they're making bashes get confirmed by another bash. Because of how hit stun works if you were getting bashed by multiple people in a gank you could block the follow ups. Now Shinobi and Conqueror can gank like fucking chimps and still do damage. Idk what the point of making them bashes is anyway, other than making ganking way easier because you don't have to worry about hitstun rules.
Anyone know why ubi keeps buffing damage the CCU reduced damage and made most attacks faster to get players to start reading their opponents so why do we need to go back to 30 damage heavies? I guess it still beats 40 damage heavies back in year 2 when you only needed 3 attacks to kill someone
It's honestly not a too bad design philosophy. Release the rework with intentionally overstatted numbers, then gradually reduce them patch by patch until the character is fine. This is easier than starting with weak numbers and increasing them, since if the numbers are low = nobody plays the hero = you have no data to buff with. If they numbers are high = everyone plays it = you have lots of data to nerf. And no, I don't think "just get it right the first time" is an option. Raider's got this exact treatment, frankly.
Honestly I kinda dislike that they gave conq a recovery cancel at all. He doesn't need one, and giving every character with an all guard a recovery cancel is just kind of lame. Especially the way they did if for conq, making it one nearly as fast aramushas, while stronger in nearly every other way. It just feels off. Not everyone needs a recovery cancel.

@@idofx8722 Uh, no. Lawbringer has a very outdated moveset but he’s NOT horrible. Shaolin is most certainly better than Jorm. HL you could argue, but that’s about it. Jorm has NOTHING other than the fact if you do more than 2 attacks and don’t reset to neutral after every mixup, you’re on the ground. Very fun. I enjoy how Jorm’s kit still exists even after CCU and all the changes made to stamina & offense. Jorm is genuinely an artifact from old FH that doesn’t belong anymore.
That’s 3 straight reworks with a recovery cancel on a bash. 2 of which are feckin dodge bashes. Dodge heavies / lights are gonna be useless soon with this trend. So much of the cast is gonna become outdated so rapidly cuz of stuff like this.
Conq Rework The last reworks that were actually good was with the 7 heros testing grounds at the beginning of the year 5. Back then the reworks looked good with nice animations and actually made the character better for the game by adding the minimum things that they needed. Now its just autopilot, straight OP reworks. Orochi, Raider, Shugoki, Shinobi and now Conq. Almost all of them with blue and orange Attacks and unlimited stamina. Why they can at least make their Attacks drain more stamina then just straight up spam everything. Aramusha's rework was and still is a solid one. If he was the one reworked now, he would have soo much stamina to do feints all day. I miss the times when you needed skills to be good, and not just smash random buttons and get autopiloted. Why he has 32 charged heavys?! Highlander is already hard to get some damage with his ofensive stance since almost EVERYONE has a dodge and undodgeble Attacks, and he still dose 30 damage while draining a lot of stamina. Im a console player and i play since launch with no problem. I actually never hâd problems with other reworks and characters, not even Warmonger and Gryphon because at least you hâd time to do something when it was your turn to fight. Now its just dodge bash on red. I dont have a problem with that, but i have a problem if i predicted the bash by dodging, and not punish that. What do i do? Thank God Cent dosent have his heavy finisher undodgeble, that would have been something possible if it was reworked today. At this point i dont want Ubisoft to rework any Hero, because they Will lose their personality and make them too op compared to the rest of the cast. Im not a salty or toxic player, im having fun with this game dont get me rong, but this has gone too far. See you next season when Shaolin will get a bash, im sorry. (and sorry for my bad english). I feel like they should do another testing grounds, so they can tweak him up a bit before releasing him to live game. Like ex., giving him a dodge forward heavy to roll catch and continue off with the bash after that, perhaps removing undodgable heavies from his kit but give him better tracking instead, and removing fainting from him cuz it doesn't feel right for him to be able to do it and since he has the full guard thing there alongside the feinting. And if ubi can, add another hero to be reworked as well, my hopes r either nuxia, jorm, or lawbringer (if they do them right).
4th Feat change proposal: Make his uninteruptable feat a shorter duration (I am unsure about the current one but isn't like a minute or something?). Make like 15-20 seconds maybe, but as an aoe ability, giving uninteruptable to all teammates in a area, maybe a radius like inspire. Or do it with damage reduction of idk 30% if uninteruptable turns out beeing busted

When it comes to the whole bash/undodgable mixup becoming super common and stale, I completely agree with those people. I didn't like raider either like you said, but they didn't have to go that route either. If they wanted to completely rework the hero (which I already think they didn't) then it should have been unique instead of something we've seen what 6 to 7 times now if you consider warlord? They removed some of his defining features for a bland over used mixup. I loved the heavy crushing counter and not being able to feint.
Ngl I think heavy characters shouldn't have this much recovery cancel. They shouldn't even have recovery calcels at all. Conqueror rework rn is a way better assassin than any of the assassins we have already.
Hero classes haven't been relevant for years though. They're not suddenly gonna start making them relevant to a character's kit and design outside of reflex guard (which btw is a whole ass different topic) for assassins and hybrids based upon assassins such as shaolin.

Not getting a GUARDBREAK when conq recovers off neutral bash into FULL GUARD stance leaves a sour as fuck taste in my mouth tbhh, not only is it as frustrating as BP bash but also not getting a gb when you get the read that hes going to fullblock feels super counterintuitive...
Definitely going to get changed if you ask me. It's the first TG and we're not really sure what's actually intended by design and what isn't yet until they make changes in another TG or release the rework to live but I definitely agree, it can be abused heavily on top of the recovery cancel into another bash.

I think if they just Quality of Lifed the live version more Conq would be fine. Conq in live build definitely feels balanced in the rock paper scissors sense and requires their opponents to be a little more thrifty and patient to win and I'm okaybwith that, hell it's prolly the only reason I every use any given bash is vs Kyoshin and Conq but even then conq is actually interesting to fight cause despite kyoshin having a much wider kit, most of them don't even know they have it, they're just orochi mains with a straighter sword. Conq has a much more limited kit and has to make better use of it and I think thats what makes them not the best but also way more fun to play as or against
It still baffles me that every time they rework a character or add new moves they just cannot for the life of them seem to get the animations right. He looks wonky as fuck, so does Orochi’s kick still and Shinobi’s running kick. Why can’t they just make the animations look good and fluid since they have proven they could with the last batch of executions. Is it just laziness?
2 big reasons 1. Its testing grounds, a rough draft. Who knows what attack will stay or will be removed just look how different shinobi were in the different testing grounds. 2. Conq is a very old hero with a weird weapon so they will need to reanimate a lot. Normaly you could motion capture it from ground up but we have a pandemic and its the middle of winter.

And I doubt they’ll change his animations after release because they didn’t do that with Orochi or Shinobi when their reworks were put into game

It's tougher than you expect to make proper animation blending. Consider that all animations need to properly transition into eachother from 3 different stances and multiple combo variants. Executions are just static mocaped animations and thats it, no change happens on player input. You can argue there is a bit of a budget issue since they try to speed up animations that were meant to be played at a slower speed, which makes them look wonky. Not really defending ubisoft or anything but am I the only one that actually is ok with these animations? Sure they are not realistic, but the heavies do feel very snappy and a bit arcade-y, like conq puts a lot of power in the move.
This may be me,but honestly, I would like if Conq keep the superior block heavies at least in his neutral charged heavies. Aside of that - and the animations - I do like this rework overall
Opposite. From neutral it can negate light/heavy mixup, and is too powerful a defense, plus allowed other OS’s. However, a CHAIN superior block heavy wouldnt be too bad.

Conq still doing somewhat okay: gets rework Other heroes who're the same or don't need one at all: get rework Jormungandr: * silently screams in depression * Edit: I'm aware that recent reworks have been overbuffed abominations, but Jorm lacks at literally anything. His only pressure lies in sacrificing all possible damage to drain stamina, and even then his slam isn't really worth all the lost damage without the shield feat. His combos are terrible with the only possibly useful mix-up to put some pressure on someone is his undodgeable light or unblockable heavy finisher. However, the light attack ends your already worthless chain leaving you in an even more worthless state as you can't do anything to prevent a fight from becoming like a turn-based game. Heavy finisher is slow, and can be light-interrupted when the light opener is blocked (basically the same sad story as raider). The only thing that does make it dangerous is that it can wallsplat and knock you down, but there's no reason to take your chances. You can go brain dead, and roll away. Jorm hasn't got any viable catch tools as his forward dodge attack (being the only form of dodge attack he has) is slow, and hardly ever tracks properly. Sure it has a soft-feint into gb option, but that kicks in way too early to be effective on any player. Especially now that more players will try to react on parry flash.

I had a conq doing a lot of flickering, I'm assuming it's supposed to mess me up and get him damage. Joke's on him, my reaction time is too slow for me to care, by the time my brain registers the stimulus I'm already reacting to the next thing. It's just too fast for me to care it happened. I play almost entirely on reads and watching hero animations.. I'm not a fan of some of the heavy animations in this TG

Man.. I still remember when my warden top heavy did 40 damage. And now you call Conqs charged heavy with 32 dmg too much. Not that it's a bad change, but man. The nostalgia of my 70dmg oos punish on Warden.
So i finished watching the video, i'm not a Conq main but ... well i play 3 heros, holy trinity, and he's one, so ... Anyway, i think minion killing with him is more braindead now when before you had to be more precise. idk how to feel about this, Conquerors Feats need some slight buff and then i would not actually mind having a more skill based minion clearing because you reap reward. now its just less reward but more brainless, whatever. Removal of Helicopter Zone is bad imo, sure its been a giant meme and F off move but they should have split it, its good for minion clearing at right times, i think this move should have turned into a back dodge heavy button combo, then the other half of the move is whatever that new thing is. though the old move wouldn't have the unblockable property, this just costed the hero uniqueness. As a person who still likes to play Conq, this omni directional God mode light is off, the skill requirement of changing direction in order to be able to maintain a chain was nice. do it, reap reward, simple math. but i have personally lost so much faith in Ubisofts direction with For Honor that at this point i'll just take whatever bugger all buff i can get. i tried to play more on a set of values, they dont want me to. Faint heavy is nice i guess, can argue that the feeling of playing For Honor changed alot. anyway, his perks and feats need genuine innovation and heart instead of just destroying them into oblivion and making them subpar. not healthy at all. Maybe i would've incorporated some of these changes, but i'd focus on doing something for feats or perks he had.
really hate that they removed the fullblock of the zone and killed one of the few unique and healthy things about conq just cuz people couldnt adapt and make a read on an 8 damage attack thats only really usable vs red attacks, now its p much one of the worst zones in the game down from usable as for the rest of the rework its just a lazy copy paste ud/bash mixup like theyve been doing for past year without addressing his other big issues like the lack of a good neutral and chase

I've been really enjoying year 5 and all the new reworks, but fucking hell the animations are getting BUTCHERED. We need a whole patch fixing some of these animations, since they keep getting worse. I was looking back at an old for honor clip and the game looked so damn smooth, that's not the level of animation I want, I don't really care about the beauty, but I want it to be at least understandable.
BP needed it because his kit is small and lacking in diversity, meanwhile Conq does NOT need a safe bash. If Conq gets a safe bash, give BP a side-dodge bash.
@@MrEricks12 He is not one of the “best characters.” He’s always been balanced, and a good idea of where all the other characters should be at in terms of balance. He used to be S tier, sure, but there’s always been people better than him, especially recently.

If i were to try keeping his old identity i wouldve still kept him without hard feints and would instead give him light and heavy softfeints to all sides from both the normal and charged heavies, a full block softfeint too and maybe even a dodge/bash softfeint to top it all off! I would keep helicopter zone and you could chain it indefinitely if you held the buttons but you still have to consider stamina, also make it faster since its not on par with other generic zones unless ofcourse they added some special property to it which would be cool since they removed full block... Last but not least i woud try to not use undodgeables at all and would instead rely on wide hitboxes on his heavies to both catch early dodges and be useful in teamfights and alongside his softfeints i already mentioned this could make up for the loss of the undidgeable propertie but thats too much work and this is a Ubisoft game lol. I hate Conq but i could see this changing my mind!

If the conq all guard cancels after a bash, I'd expect him to be vulnerable for a guardbreak, not the opposite. That should be fixed imo

Honestly I kinda dislike that they gave conq a recovery cancel at all. He doesn't need one, and giving every character with an all guard a recovery cancel is just kind of lame. Especially the way they did if for conq, making it one nearly as fast aramushas, while stronger in nearly every other way. It just feels off. Not everyone needs a recovery cancel.

@@idofx8722 Uh, no. Lawbringer has a very outdated moveset but he’s NOT horrible. Shaolin is most certainly better than Jorm. HL you could argue, but that’s about it. Jorm has NOTHING other than the fact if you do more than 2 attacks and don’t reset to neutral after every mixup, you’re on the ground. Very fun.
I enjoy how Jorm’s kit still exists even after CCU and all the changes made to stamina & offense. Jorm is genuinely an artifact from old FH that doesn’t belong anymore.

That’s 3 straight reworks with a recovery cancel on a bash. 2 of which are feckin dodge bashes. Dodge heavies / lights are gonna be useless soon with this trend. So much of the cast is gonna become outdated so rapidly cuz of stuff like this.

Conq Rework
The last reworks that were actually good was with the 7 heros testing grounds at the beginning of the year 5. Back then the reworks looked good with nice animations and actually made the character better for the game by adding the minimum things that they needed. Now its just autopilot, straight OP reworks. Orochi, Raider, Shugoki, Shinobi and now Conq. Almost all of them with blue and orange Attacks and unlimited stamina. Why they can at least make their Attacks drain more stamina then just straight up spam everything. Aramusha's rework was and still is a solid one. If he was the one reworked now, he would have soo much stamina to do feints all day. I miss the times when you needed skills to be good, and not just smash random buttons and get autopiloted. Why he has 32 charged heavys?! Highlander is already hard to get some damage with his ofensive stance since almost EVERYONE has a dodge and undodgeble Attacks, and he still dose 30 damage while draining a lot of stamina. Im a console player and i play since launch with no problem. I actually never hâd problems with other reworks and characters, not even Warmonger and Gryphon because at least you hâd time to do something when it was your turn to fight. Now its just dodge bash on red. I dont have a problem with that, but i have a problem if i predicted the bash by dodging, and not punish that. What do i do? Thank God Cent dosent have his heavy finisher undodgeble, that would have been something possible if it was reworked today. At this point i dont want Ubisoft to rework any Hero, because they Will lose their personality and make them too op compared to the rest of the cast. Im not a salty or toxic player, im having fun with this game dont get me rong, but this has gone too far. See you next season when Shaolin will get a bash, im sorry. (and sorry for my bad english). I feel like they should do another testing grounds, so they can tweak him up a bit before releasing him to live game. Like ex., giving him a dodge forward heavy to roll catch and continue off with the bash after that, perhaps removing undodgable heavies from his kit but give him better tracking instead, and removing fainting from him cuz it doesn't feel right for him to be able to do it and since he has the full guard thing there alongside the feinting. And if ubi can, add another hero to be reworked as well, my hopes r either nuxia, jorm, or lawbringer (if they do them right).

4th Feat change proposal:
Make his uninteruptable feat a shorter duration (I am unsure about the current one but isn't like a minute or something?). Make like 15-20 seconds maybe, but as an aoe ability, giving uninteruptable to all teammates in a area, maybe a radius like inspire. Or do it with damage reduction of idk 30% if uninteruptable turns out beeing busted

When it comes to the whole bash/undodgable mixup becoming super common and stale, I completely agree with those people. I didn't like raider either like you said, but they didn't have to go that route either. If they wanted to completely rework the hero (which I already think they didn't) then it should have been unique instead of something we've seen what 6 to 7 times now if you consider warlord? They removed some of his defining features for a bland over used mixup. I loved the heavy crushing counter and not being able to feint.

Ngl I think heavy characters shouldn't have this much recovery cancel. They shouldn't even have recovery calcels at all. Conqueror rework rn is a way better assassin than any of the assassins we have already.

Hero classes haven't been relevant for years though. They're not suddenly gonna start making them relevant to a character's kit and design outside of reflex guard (which btw is a whole ass different topic) for assassins and hybrids based upon assassins such as shaolin.

Not getting a GUARDBREAK when conq recovers off neutral bash into FULL GUARD stance leaves a sour as fuck taste in my mouth tbhh, not only is it as frustrating as BP bash but also not getting a gb when you get the read that hes going to fullblock feels super counterintuitive...
Definitely going to get changed if you ask me. It's the first TG and we're not really sure what's actually intended by design and what isn't yet until they make changes in another TG or release the rework to live but I definitely agree, it can be abused heavily on top of the recovery cancel into another bash.

I think if they just Quality of Lifed the live version more Conq would be fine. Conq in live build definitely feels balanced in the rock paper scissors sense and requires their opponents to be a little more thrifty and patient to win and I'm okaybwith that, hell it's prolly the only reason I every use any given bash is vs Kyoshin and Conq but even then conq is actually interesting to fight cause despite kyoshin having a much wider kit, most of them don't even know they have it, they're just orochi mains with a straighter sword. Conq has a much more limited kit and has to make better use of it and I think thats what makes them not the best but also way more fun to play as or against
It still baffles me that every time they rework a character or add new moves they just cannot for the life of them seem to get the animations right. He looks wonky as fuck, so does Orochi’s kick still and Shinobi’s running kick. Why can’t they just make the animations look good and fluid since they have proven they could with the last batch of executions. Is it just laziness?
2 big reasons
1. Its testing grounds, a rough draft. Who knows what attack will stay or will be removed just look how different shinobi were in the different testing grounds.
2. Conq is a very old hero with a weird weapon so they will need to reanimate a lot. Normaly you could motion capture it from ground up but we have a pandemic and its the middle of winter.

And I doubt they’ll change his animations after release because they didn’t do that with Orochi or Shinobi when their reworks were put into game

It's tougher than you expect to make proper animation blending. Consider that all animations need to properly transition into eachother from 3 different stances and multiple combo variants. Executions are just static mocaped animations and thats it, no change happens on player input. You can argue there is a bit of a budget issue since they try to speed up animations that were meant to be played at a slower speed, which makes them look wonky.
Not really defending ubisoft or anything but am I the only one that actually is ok with these animations? Sure they are not realistic, but the heavies do feel very snappy and a bit arcade-y, like conq puts a lot of power in the move.
This may be me,but honestly, I would like if Conq keep the superior block heavies at least in his neutral charged heavies. Aside of that - and the animations - I do like this rework overall
Opposite. From neutral it can negate light/heavy mixup, and is too powerful a defense, plus allowed other OS’s. However, a CHAIN superior block heavy wouldnt be too bad.

Edit: I'm aware that recent reworks have been overbuffed abominations, but Jorm lacks at literally anything. His only pressure lies in sacrificing all possible damage to drain stamina, and even then his slam isn't really worth all the lost damage without the shield feat.
His combos are terrible with the only possibly useful mix-up to put some pressure on someone is his undodgeable light or unblockable heavy finisher. However, the light attack ends your already worthless chain leaving you in an even more worthless state as you can't do anything to prevent a fight from becoming like a turn-based game.
Heavy finisher is slow, and can be light-interrupted when the light opener is blocked (basically the same sad story as raider). The only thing that does make it dangerous is that it can wallsplat and knock you down, but there's no reason to take your chances. You can go brain dead, and roll away. Jorm hasn't got any viable catch tools as his forward dodge attack (being the only form of dodge attack he has) is slow, and hardly ever tracks properly. Sure it has a soft-feint into gb option, but that kicks in way too early to be effective on any player. Especially now that more players will try to react on parry flash.

Joke's on him, my reaction time is too slow for me to care, by the time my brain registers the stimulus I'm already reacting to the next thing. It's just too fast for me to care it happened. I play almost entirely on reads and watching hero animations.. I'm not a fan of some of the heavy animations in this TG

Anyway, i think minion killing with him is more braindead now when before you had to be more precise. idk how to feel about this, Conquerors Feats need some slight buff and then i would not actually mind having a more skill based minion clearing because you reap reward. now its just less reward but more brainless, whatever.
Removal of Helicopter Zone is bad imo, sure its been a giant meme and F off move but they should have split it, its good for minion clearing at right times, i think this move should have turned into a back dodge heavy button combo, then the other half of the move is whatever that new thing is. though the old move wouldn't have the unblockable property, this just costed the hero uniqueness.
As a person who still likes to play Conq, this omni directional God mode light is off, the skill requirement of changing direction in order to be able to maintain a chain was nice. do it, reap reward, simple math. but i have personally lost so much faith in Ubisofts direction with For Honor that at this point i'll just take whatever bugger all buff i can get. i tried to play more on a set of values, they dont want me to.
Faint heavy is nice i guess, can argue that the feeling of playing For Honor changed alot. anyway, his perks and feats need genuine innovation and heart instead of just destroying them into oblivion and making them subpar. not healthy at all.
Maybe i would've incorporated some of these changes, but i'd focus on doing something for feats or perks he had.

really hate that they removed the fullblock of the zone and killed one of the few unique and healthy things about conq just cuz people couldnt adapt and make a read on an 8 damage attack thats only really usable vs red attacks, now its p much one of the worst zones in the game down from usable
as for the rest of the rework its just a lazy copy paste ud/bash mixup like theyve been doing for past year without addressing his other big issues like the lack of a good neutral and chase

I've been really enjoying year 5 and all the new reworks, but fucking hell the animations are getting BUTCHERED. We need a whole patch fixing some of these animations, since they keep getting worse.
I was looking back at an old for honor clip and the game looked so damn smooth, that's not the level of animation I want, I don't really care about the beauty, but I want it to be at least understandable.
so instead of fixing bp's safe bash recovery they decided to give it to conq too, nice
BP needed it because his kit is small and lacking in diversity, meanwhile Conq does NOT need a safe bash. If Conq gets a safe bash, give BP a side-dodge bash.

If i were to try keeping his old identity i wouldve still kept him without hard feints and would instead give him light and heavy softfeints to all sides from both the normal and charged heavies, a full block softfeint too and maybe even a dodge/bash softfeint to top it all off!
I would keep helicopter zone and you could chain it indefinitely if you held the buttons but you still have to consider stamina, also make it faster since its not on par with other generic zones unless ofcourse they added some special property to it which would be cool since they removed full block...
Last but not least i woud try to not use undodgeables at all and would instead rely on wide hitboxes on his heavies to both catch early dodges and be useful in teamfights and alongside his softfeints i already mentioned this could make up for the loss of the undidgeable propertie but thats too much work and this is a Ubisoft game lol.
