    6:14 I have driven the hybrid version of this for 3 months now and the average per tank is 4,6 - 4,7 l/100 km. Motorway 5 - 5,5 l/100 km, city between 3,5 - 4 l/100 km. The hybrid absolutely loves slow traffic. The electric motor also gives it a 253 Nm add on.

    I have a 2017 HRV 1.8 Executive and I absolutely love it! Overtaking sounds a crappy, but it moves! I was interested in the 2022 model, but maybe I should simply stick to my 1.8. Really great overall economy of 7.2l/100km over the last 5 years. Very, very practical, though and it handles a gravel road quite well.

    I think those who love Hondas will love this. But for less money, you can get a Subaru XV, with more airbags, AWD, bigger engine and a volume knob for your radio. And if you are willing to dish more out, the Rav4 comes in a hybrid already. I don't see this selling well in SA sadly.

    The engine doesnt make sense for this size vehicle. If you have some passengers and groceries in the boot its gonna take 10 years to get up the hill. Looking at Hondas sales numbers peoe are not taking Honda serious. Why not fit a 1.5 turbo and keep the price the same. Maybe then I will visit a Honda dealership again.

    • @thabzmad7265
      @thabzmad7265 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's really not that large a vehicle in the metal, it's on a raised jazz platform, hence also the jazz/fit engine. As for the price, they pay extra duties due to no local production plant credits. This is one of the reasons why the likes of Toyota, VW, Nissan can price better.

    Thanks for your review. I drove the HR-V for a week earlier this month in Australia. It's not bad (and I agree with your views about its compact and spacious design), but as an EV owner, I prefer the instant torque and punch of EVs over fossil fuel cars ... even when driving in a relaxed style. 😄 It does feel laggy and noisy. I've owned a Honda Civic before, and I generally like the design of Hondas. But given the way forward, zero-emission vehicles (not hybrids) are the way to go.

  • @pieterrossouw8596

    Like the way it looks but it really should've had 20ish kW more. A CVT is bad enough on its own, a CVT bolted to an underpowered engine is just sad. It's not like Honda don't know how to make good fun engines... missed opportunity

      In most markets, as I understand it, the previous generation of the HR-V wasn't all that highly regarded. It was slow and expensive for what you got, and the fuel mileage was only so-so...so not much of a trade-off for the mediocre acceleration. My cousin owns one and bought it because her husband's CR-V was and remains a pretty decent vehicle, yet she finds her HR-V to be pretty underwhelming. She has hinted she will trade it off as soon as it's paid for.

    There is a huge reason why they do not sell in SA.
    Arrogant second hand sales personnel and more arrogant managers. Overcharging clients, especially women, and incompetent and lazy service personnel.
    Charged my wife over a thousand rand for a 20 minute job to fix a pipe they missed after an inspection.
    And that after they quality 'inspected' the car less than a 1000km before after I waited 5 minths for parts. Nit a ryping error.. five months!!! I was without a car.
