BC NES was my favourite NES game as a kid. Rearmed felt 100% faithful to the original while still adding their own touch to it, the devs were either fans of the original or respected it and its fans.
@@classiccustoms2010 You’re hearing similarities to Mega Man because of the sound engine programming used in this game, which was made by Yoshihiro Sakaguchi (Yuukichan’s Papa). Whether it’s DuckTales, Commando, or Mega Man 1 & 2, Capcom’s early games sounded like this pretty much all around until their composers started using a newer, different-sounding version of the engine in the early ‘90s(it may not even be the same engine?). Also, Manami Matsumae (Chanchacorin) created the soundtrack for Mega Man 1, while Junko Tamiya (Gondamin) worked on this game, Bionic Commando, along with many other games.
When I was a little kid, I thought this had to be the last level because the music was so epic and I had trouble figuring out how to progress through the level. Admittedly I wasn't too bright back then and I did eventually beat the game. But I still remember that.
my favorite one in the game...just the sounds of your grapple making the clinking sounds during this stage was addictive 🔥🔥🔥... besides Contra.... bionic commando was definitely my #1 game 🎮
Hot damn this is so good. I’ve always loved “droning” themes like this such as Gutsman’s Stage from Megaman or Stage Theme 2 from Spiderman: Return of the Sinister Six
Those respawning hovering troopers in Area 5 with the beams... /shiver Was kind of sad they replaced them with robots in REarmed, but that remake is wonderful, so I can forgive it.
Capcom's composers in this era, especially as we would see later that year (yall know what I'm talking about), are just in a different league. Like Uematsu or Mitsuda later.
A memory I will always have, one of my friends had helicopter parents. To positively enforce my friend to do well in school, they promised him a new game everytime he got straight A's. I would come over and play for hours with his huge library of NES games. Lucky for a freeloading poor friend like me, he was a very smart and dedicated asian kid. He would let me play while he studied whenever I came over. Ive always wished to meet him again after all these decades to thank him for giving me such an awesome childhood. 🥲

I think the Megaman song it sounds like the most is Dr. Cossack stage 2 from Mega Man 4.

Ah yes, "Heat Wave". Probably my favorite track in the game, especially fitting for the tension of Area 5's tower climb.

This game goes so hard. Capcom had some of the best sound designers back in the 80s.
I spent many hours playing and this song always reminded me of Machiko Watanabe from 4th period in jr high.
If you haven't already, check out "Beyond Dark Skies" from the Bionic Commando (2009) soundtrack. A glorious tribute to this tune.

This music was also used in Area 6, and it reminds me more of that level than Area 5. Somehow, it goes well with the night sky from Area 6.

This game was so fucking hard for me when I was a kid.
