Dont forget the silvia, thats a beauty. But my dream car even if money was not an issue is definitely a 300zx, a sleeper car in my opinion that can do laps and outlast the modern hellcats. Only downside to the 300zx is the engine bay is a pain, not sure why they made it impossible to do work on that engine. Youll need paper thin hands in order to do work. I really feel that America got greedy and banned them because, they liked planned obeselence and wanted money but the jdm cars were pretty much indestructible with regular self maintenance. It was not due to "emission standards" is was more so because the government realized they were loosing money to these sexy bulletproof cars.
Historically speaking as someone who’s been around JDMs for 35yrs. The RB motors are actually very weak when it comes to holding power. And it costs big $$$ to build them up.

A lot of Californians made hand over fist money in the 90s building lowriders and shipping them off to Japan. Big John Kennedy out of Long Beach had a company called John's exports that specialized in it. Lowrider magazine actually had a Japanese edition. You would look at the Japanese car culture and they would have on button-up flannels and cornrows and socks up to their knees. They get down these days too. Didn't take them long to learn the intricacies of lowriding. Major respect to the Japanese lowrider community.
Even so I’d never trade my WS6 for any piece of JDM, give me a 6 speed RWD AND a N/A V8 as god intended, you can keep those small displacement 4 or 6 bangers. I wise man once said if you have to add a turbo to ur car then it was designed wrong. 😂
You can buy one and drive it here legally, you have to wait 25 years from the day the specific model your looking for was made. (If you live in Canada, it’s 15 years) To make a long story short, Mercedes Benz is the whole reason why we have to wait so long to import a car to drive legally.
Wait till you find out that at one point during the beginning of the golden age of JDM cars (before The wangan era) the fastest car in Japan was a blue Transam with FRP panels owned by a Mr. Okawa who worked for a tuning company called Trust (Now Greddy) and was also president of the American Car Club. It clocked 264KM/h on the test track. The car that dethroned that Transam was a red De Tomaso Pantera with a smallblock Chevy V8 swap that was owned by Hawaiian American Garry Mitsunaga, but driven by the idol ans mentor of the real life Drift king, Kunimitsu Takahashi. That small block was built by Mario Rossi himself (yes that Mario Rossi), and tuned by the legendary Masaru Hosoki who also built the infamous ABR Hosoki S31 Fairlady-Z, AKA the real life devil Z. This just goes to show that car culture is more diverse than one can imagine. HP brings more people together than billionaires at a Effrey Jepstein vacation home.
I would imagine it is more valuable imagine a small Japanese man with all his Yakuza boys in a 85 Monte Carlo with a 350 or 454 on 22s😭😭 boy the Mafia king of the city he getting all the bitches

The Japanese and don’t care about those cars like Americans do because those were the commuters cars. Everybody’s mom and pops had some type of JDM car back then. The government nowadays over there is trying to make cars illegal altogether to own. By pricing people’s insurance crazy high so you will literally have to be a part of the rich to drive a car legally. These cars were their daily drivers then you had the cars seen modding them but for the most part they looked at those cars like regular cars. Just like young adults and teenagers in America say “my dad or grandpa had a 1970 mustang, 70s Charger, 1975 impala, 1969 Pontiac GTO, 1970s Cadillac El Dorado”. It’s just what they seen all the time it’s regular to them but bring a muscle car over there or low rider they will drool over that or specific super cars.
