Just found your channel off this video but I support the long content, really enjoyed the video. To be fair I haven't checked out the short content for fair comparison yet lol, but long form video was good and I'd definitely watch more =D
@@danteshollowedgrounds love the series but when I was watching at least blood+ it felt that saya was so weak that it negatively effected the whole plot
Honestly even though Blood C was kinda slow, I *loved* how stilted and awkward it felt, because it mostly seemed reflective of what was happening. Blood C is a show about a bunch of people playing roles they find incomprehensible. Saya is a "hero" who doesn't actually care about the people she's protecting. Her paternal figures are "guardians" who actively want her to become a worse, more miserable person. Her "friends" are mostly sociopaths who are terrified of her and force the interaction because they're being paid to. The scene where Saya's enforced love interest repeatedly tries to confess to her and bounces off her genuine confusion at why he would act like that is one of my favorite scenes in anime.
I also love this aspect of Blood-C, and honestly? If it had gotten the time to really get this concept across, it would’ve been great. Like imagine if it were a 24-episode anime where the first half remains mostly the same, but drops more hints to the true nature of things just so it didn’t seem so “it was bad, but bad on purpose”. And then the second half is basically what The Last Dark was, while clearing certain things up about Saya’s past, as well as deeply exploring her ability to learn to trust humans again after being betrayed in the first half. That’s of course all fan fiction at this point though.
I honestly hated Blood C. I wish I watched the other Blood series, they look a lot better narratively and the characters are more likable. The end of the show just becomes Gore Porn (even though you could argue most of the show behaves this way) after what I felt like a good twist is wasted on such a disastrously written story.
@elysainempire4628 Imagine if Kobato had to get coffeti candy from that saya, lol Or if Saya had questioned Kimihiro about the fact that he was "members only" live-streaming her while taking a bath with the magical ayakashi puppy of his, kek
Honestly, I really liked Diva at first, her character was just so interesting, and I felt bad for her to an extent. Right up until she did what she did to poor Riku then I didn't care what happened to her after that. I did feel the tiniest bit sorry for her at the end of the anime, but what she did was just too awful and disgusting I can't help hating her.
@karencoon6243 I think she was a good antagonist, kinda wished she was more proactive and less an agent of chaos. I dont like her as a person but as a character a role in a story where she is supposed to be monster.
I mean you can't forget the fact that she raped a shoto, but she did seem genuinely love her children and wanted them to have a better childhood than her or Saya.
The Blood franchise was a favorite of mine growing up, but hardly anyone knew about it. I watched Blood: The Last Vampire anime/manga and Blood+. I tried to watch Blood-C, but couldn't get through an episode. I also had a similar problem where I wanted the universe, lore, characters, or gore expanded upon, but all of the iterations would only fulfill one of those desires and compromise the others.
I got confused and thought blood-c was only one and I heard the blood series is good but after a couple episodes I was like who in the world likes this and looked it up again and realized my mistake and realized the other ones weren’t on the streaming site so I gave up. I think I might try watching those other two now.
Blood-C is so weird because the show is boring and bad, but... there's a reason for it? Like, it's intentionally made like that, and there's a sequel movie that's a lot better paced, but the show is SO hard to get through.
I always thought Blood-C was a separate franchise, to be honest. I'm a bit confused why you'd try to break the goddess who'd sworn to never kill a human, because if you succeed, you're probably the target of her oath breaking. There's faster methods of suicide that don't doom the whole planet, and alternate motivations all seem flimsy.
It's a typical mad scientist sociopath in an anime series. The vast majority of them engage in activities that should have killed them numerous times, but they get to smile through their plot armor and declare that it's all going according to kaikaku.
I really enjoyed Blood C. The "boring" aspect created a kind of creep factor and sense of emptiness in the world that I haven't really seen in any of the other shows I have watched. The plot twist that they were all actors the whole time caught me off guard.
Honestly same. I know it's not peak fiction, but I was able to enjoy it for what it was. Plus it was the first blood show I saw, so it holds a special place in my heart.
I know what you mean. It really made the characters feel isolated from the rest of the world and that they were trapped with the monsters. And before the big reveal, it helped create this really weird feeling of how no one acted normal. I’d like for another show to try to go for this feel, maybe just have a better story to go with it.
It was my first exposure to the broader Blood franchise. I first watched it last year with my partner. I was really shocked that some people didn’t like the show. The action animation in the fights themselves were stellar, and the “normal school life” stuff felt very purposefully uncomfortable. So the twist that everything was a facade both surprised me and made sense in retrospect. I also can’t speak for the dub since I didn’t watch it, but I really enjoyed the sub.
freaken finally! somebody talks about BLOOD. by the way in the blood+ series i remember the reason why during the climax when diva died and sia didn't is because when diva got preggo and delivered twins the potency of her blood disappeared. and that's why saya's blood triumphed, saya never got child (like she & diva's chiroptera mom). saya never got to have children to pass the power of her blood to. but i kind of also like your interpretation to it, keeps to the theme. the chiropterans are a product of diva's blood mutating normal peeps. i always thought that saya' s blood could be used for the same means since she and diva came from the same chiropteran mommie. fun fact "chiroptera" is the scientific name for bats!
The thing that truly killed Blood C could be defined in two words "Stagnation" and "excessiveness". Last vampire had a slow pace but the world felt alive thanks to focusing on different aspects besides Saya herself, the characters were simple but complimented each other and the story well enough to make it interesting and every event had some form of consequence or effect on the larger world and the characters, the gore both on anime and manga had varying degrees but both knew when to tone things down for the sake of serious, funny or heartfelt moments. Blood C fails at all of these, nothing that happens ever moves or changes anything no matter how many people die and the gore is so ridiculously excessive even during supposedly important or sad moments that it's hard to take anything in it seriously. Blood C genuinely would've been a lot better had it either leaned more heavily into simply being a dark comedy or dropped the plot twist a lot sooner and then worked towards developing an actual plot with that like the people in the town planning a rebellion or an escape since all the deaths make them realize this psychopath is intent on killing everyone for the sake of his simp boner and Saya having to decide whether to help them or not or if she even cares, all the while trying to keep up the facade so shit doesn't hit the fan. Overall, watch the movie, watch the anime, read the mangas, and if you want mindless over the top gore, watch C too
Blood+ was an elusive piece for me because I watched it on tv as a kid, but bc I was a dumb kid I couldn't abstract the plot, didn't help that my watch time was inconsistent. Years later I was thinking about it and wondering what the plot could be. Then your video was recommended to me and I was like "Blood SERIES?". In the end, Blood+ premise wasn't as complex as I was expecting, but at the same time it's very well made, and the story works that premise very well. The whole media around it and its background I had no idea about and I'm surprised how meta it can get. I also had no idea Blood C was from the same series, despite the name, I thought it was just a coincidence. Blood C never interested me, even after my friend showing compilations of it on youtube. It felt weird that things kept appearing and killing people, but the compilation made it look like everyone just resumed to the status quo after monsters went in a murdering spree, so I never felt a sense of plot. Still I'm glad to have this lil bug in my head satiated now that I understand what the plot of Blood+ was, and what the + means. Now I must uncover the plot of Black Cat
The plot of Black Cat is that a long time assassin finds out there's another way to live life than just doing a bunch of m*rder jobs (who knew?) and quits his workplace only for his gay ex coworker to try and ruin his life for breaking up with him. Also there's donut fashion.
Look, as soon as you said Blood C was done by Clamp... they do love stories. I haven't read anything by Clamp that WASN'T a love story. It's not always romantic, and very, very rare is the Clamp Love Story that's in any way healthy... but Fucked Up Love Story is what they DO. I am not surprised that this is what they did with Blood. I'm only surprised the big bad in love with the heroine wasn't also her brother.
Wasn't too surprised cause they made x clamp certainly was a interesting group liked romance but also drama forbidden concepts so not everything aged well 😅 But was a product of their time still have a ton of master pieces I didn't really care for their blood adaption kinda just a gore fest didn't like any character but if you can appreciate the weird offness of the atmosphere you'd enjoy it
So the blood-c opening is done by Dustz who's lead singer is Ray Fujita who plays Zero in Garo the toku series. He speaks Japanese, French, and English fluently he is highlight of garo. And i have the only English published last vampire light novel and it takes during the Vietnam war follows a highschool student that accidentally see saya in action and a Vatican secret agent trying to figure out who saya is. Anyways the chiropterans are actually a type of ape that co evolved to be humans natural predators the bat stuff is convergent? evolution to make it easier to hunt us. Saya is basically a Dhampir and it's technically hybrid vigor. Also the people she works for are basically the same group blood+ saya works that last vampire also works for. Anyways it kinda a dry read with like 4 massive exposition dumps that explains the "questions" the movie leaves idk what the other 2 say
@@CulturedCrusader i mean the lore stuff is kinda interesting and their is a couple alright action scenes but most is following a highschool kid try to figure out the fuck just happened also the novels the comics and the movies cause the live action count are implied to just be part of a bigger blood multiverse this
A bit of the summary of Blood + reminded me of Claymore, specifically the part of the female main character having a tragic event that set her on the path of revenge. I'd like to see your thoughts on that
Blood+ and Claymore are my two personal favorite anime, and which I know both really well too (though blood+ is quite rusty and forgotten now, as never am able to discuss it as there's no one to discuss it with, especially the last ~ 15-20 years, anyways, lol I never really realized it, until I read this comment of yours, but there is definitely some similarity between Saya and Clare, grins
Holy shit, I’m just now realizing I saw the second movie when I was like 7. The kid turning to stone stuck with me for years and I could never find the anime it was from. This is it. Thank you so much lol.
Blood+ was one of my favourite anime and definitely deserves its flowers. The MUSIC is astounding considering it had the twin talents of HANS ZIMMER AND MARK MANCINA working on it too, which is probably why it's best remembered for its opening songs. Other than, obviously, the third op being used for the Spongebob meme lol
This is a banger video, deserves more attention 100%. I remember Blood + when I was a kid and binged it with my brother on really early Netflix. Always thought that series was pretty banger, and the first movie was so cool to me. Agree with everything you said about all the animes. I’m definitely checking out the Manga because I’ve been pretty on the fence about checking it out but now I’ll definitely be getting into it.
Having watched all three, I guess what they did with Blood-C is give people what they were missing in Blood+; G O R E. Also, Blood-C is probably more famous because it's CLAMP. It sucks but its CLAMP. And the fact that it is part of CLAMP's multiverse only made it even more interesting. The anime was done exactly as intended, you feel awkward because everything is fake. Had they continued and expand on it after the anime, things might pick up and become better. But then it was revealed that she made a deal with HolicXXX's protagonist so that means it will have to dip into that franchise too and that franchise is connected to Cardcaptor Sakura as well as several more series done by CLAMP. Narurally, before Marvel or the Spiderverse, we have CLAMP. You can just imagine how big this series will really be had they continue. Also, with extra magic. I still think Blood+ to be better in story telling because it takes its time and expand. Blood-C is...like a school play by edgy teens. Blood The Last Vampire's manga was exactly what you said. I don't even know what I'm reading then and I don't think I want to know now.
Blood+ was a game changer for me, saw it the very year it came out, and I was a highly impressionable teenager, and I might actually rewatch it now because of your video.
I remember seeing a blood/ggre compilation and those rabbits came up, i had no idea it was for blood C or that there was even a blood C, i remember seeing Blood + in adultswim and being weirded out by that they showed diva raping a lil boy, i was like "if someone was raping diva this wouldnt have aired" anyways, blood the last vampire is a cult classic, the new series didnt capture me as much, i always wanted the grittyness and weight of the original and blood+ never delivered that, however i felt closer to saya as a protag and saw this as a spirtual successor of the character. I skimmed throught alot of eps, and adult swim luckily had 3am reruns that i'd be able to finally watch the entirety. After evangelion not alot of things freaked me out as much as existential dread, also elfen lied burnt me out on gore anime. Anyways, thanks for the vid.
Referring to the last scene as "Raymans Rabbids are raving" helped lessen the trauma that scene inflicted upon me many many years ago when I was also shown it against my will.
"Two species, two families, two scientists, two queens, two daughters, two sisters, two bloods, two fates, but only one final destiny" --- The Saya Saga (Blood+, pronounced as "Blood Plus")
The Blood+ segment was great, your delivery was pretty effective by the end of it. Genuinely surprised it was 50 episodes though, I was expecting like 26 lmao
@@evetaleebrai3124 He did mention in the video that like half the episodes felt like filler, so that's why. Inuyasha had that same problem, but if you only watched anime & didn't read manga, you wouldn't know any better.
Gotta love that the BLOOD+ manga is 5 volumes long. It’s a fun read but it also feels like it doesn’t have enough space for its ideas to be fully explored
Oh you really just made my week as a Blood + fan, (and Diva apologist) as it seemed most of the anime world forgot about it. I pretty much agree completely with your analysis and I wanna add that we were ROBBED of seeing that fight between Diva and Solomon. They could've also showed more superhuman feats from Saya and Diva (I would've loved to see her mow through the red shield ship). Also you've got a new sub. I wish they would've stayed with the Blood + world longer and made a sequel and prequel, they had SO MUCH POTENTIAL TO WORK WITH. With Nathan being the chevalier of Saya and Diva's mother, Diva's children (I know there's a manga about them but it'll never be translated).
I watched Blood+ as a kid but when I tried to look it up online I could only ever find Blood C. I thought I was going crazy because the plot had the same premise and the characters had the same names but the designs and art style had changed from my memories.😂😂 I eventually figured out it was part of a series but I didn't know about the movie til this video. Thanks for another add to the watchlist.
I loved Blood-C. Most of the reason is because I watched it as a cringe edgy kid back in high school. All the gore really hooked me in and yeah, it was slow in the first few episodes, but bits and pieces in the story made me anticipate something big in the finale (which was the rabbit gore fest). Also because I LOVE CLAMP. And they even made Blood-C part of the CLAMP-verse. Seeing Watanuki as a full-fledged successor to Yuko in the movie was AWESOME. But yeah, I do agree with most of your opinion with Blood-C. I only realize them now that I'm a bit more mature and not an dumb kid anymore. Haha!
It is... I don't know if it's relieving or disturbing to know there's competition for "Edgiest Franchise in the World" that can actually match Corpse Party and Terraformars, but Blood C... wow.
Blood C was one of the first anime I watched, I don’t think I ever knew anything else of the series existed and mainly forgot about it because of the weirdness of it.
One of the best parts of Blood C was the opening, the lyrics are some great foreshadowing 😂 Since the Blood C movie was my intro to the franchise I did enjoy it even if it confused the hell out of me at the time. Blood + is amazing but I do wish they had used some of the runtime to flesh out the characters more, so they don’t feel quite as one dimensional. However, to be fair it is a huge cast of characters. Would have also loved to see more of Hagi, because cute depressed cello man is awesome 😂😂
Blood+ has a light novel sequel known as Blood# with Diva's twin daughters as the protagonists. The novel is not officially translated and bits and pieces are translated through fan efforts. Saya temporally wakens from her sleep and Haji appears. David's son is named Adam (If I remember right). I think Blood# would make for an interesting topic to discuss, but is really a obscured thing related to Blood+.
but blood c's character not acting like real people is because they aren't real it's all fake and i think it's intentional to make us suspect that something isn't right it's kind of uncanny valley. from the very first episode you get this creepy feeling. maybe for someone who already knew saya's story prior to this you couldn't really enjoy it cause you expected a lot. but then again, my biggest criticism is that fumito's motivations aren't clear like they never explain why this random rich man is so deranged to the point of creating a fake city just to destroy it, that just made absolutely no sense. and the never expending on what the pact between saya and humans as well
I only watched Blood C, never realized that there were other parts associated. Excited now though cuz I remember how much I wanted more of blood C. Bouta watch the other 2 now
Blood+ was the very first anime I had ever watched. It was on Netflix. I still check every now and then just to make sure. I'm just happy someone else is talking about this.
I kinda liked blood C, but couldn't make much sense of it. I was hoping the other series had something to do with it, and it's mildly disappointing that they don't, but Honestly, I think I prefer these being all different retellings, they are all interesting in different ways, I look forward to watching Blood+, many thanks for the recommendation
blood plus was so good to me. i didn’t have cable so it came across the tv at a hotel when i was like 10 years old. that, bleach, inuyasha. what a time
55:34 🤔 it reminds me of my language class .. or reading 🤷🏾♀️ each student write one chapter & the next student will write the next. After everyone had a turn; the teacher will read the book out loud. The only rule was, you can't say the chapters before yours was a dream or anything similar to that. Because you can't undo the last writers work. That would be disrespectful. So basically we had a chimera book. A mixture of all the different terms. Horror, action, comedy, & so on. So parts got super brutal 😁 the teacher had to spell the words out because she didn't want to say them. The war part & the missing person kidnapped chapters.. that kinda stuff. We was in 6th grade I think 🤔
Very well put together and written, was worth the length. Personally I loved the original Blood, was initially put off by some of the design on my first watch but realized I was missing a lot just by comparing it to other anime I was watching at the time. And no, you didn’t miss anything from missing the live action Blood, it makes everything Netflix is doing with their own live action look better.
Can I just say I love Blood C. And the kicker is that I legitimately don’t know WHY? I mean I don’t just get people’s criticisms, I agree with them. Yet, I still find the show charming, and remember it fondly, then binge it every now and again.
I saw this thumbnail and all my Blood + nostalgia came gushing forth. I'm glad to finally find out what the other Blood titles were like. I might just have to watch the last Vampire and red the Blood + manga. I really did enjoy that series. And I think you're super cool too for making this retrospective. Enjoy your vampire content responsibly.
I like blood C because it had my favorite character. Kimihiro Watanuki. Thanks Clamp for this random crossover that I needed now give me MORE XXXHOLIC. But I think the last vampire is my favorite Saya. Nothing will be as cold blooded, cool af and gritty as her.
I have watched all of the Blood animations and honestly I do like how they all are different takes on the same concept. I do wish they did more with the original. Blood+ was definitely a different take on the idea. (It is also the first piece of this media I had seen).I liked how even though the show was slow it felt like a lived in world. And that last arc was great. Blood C... This is the 1 I have mixed feelings about. It mostly doesn't sit with me. However that last act was such a tonal shift that I was in awe...but honestly overall the majority of it's run it just felt off. However the main issue i have is technically Blood+ is the only 1 that actually had an ending and not just a pure not sequel bait.
Last year I began watching Blood+, but due to other series on my list and other obligations I'm only on ep. 14. I remember seeing some bits when it aired on Animax Latin America back in the late 2000s, but after watching its OP and ED here in YT I decided to give it a shot and I'm enjoying it so far. I'm watching the Neutral Spanish dub and I find it kind of funny that Saya and Diva's voice actresses are sisters in real life, and Haji's VA was married to Diva's VA. Though watching Blood+ LA SP dub makes me feel a bit sad because Kai's VA, Gabriel Ortiz, passed away at a young age on December last year (he also voiced Vash in the original Trigun) I never saw The Last Vampire, but while the animation looks impressive, I feel the characters fall into the uncanny valley Never heard much positive things about Blood C
The entire reason I picked up this movie in high school and bought it from Best Buy, was we were stationed on Yokota AFB 3 years prior, and I heavily missed living there when we came back to the states. I was shocked how many establishing shots were true to Yokota AFB, to the point that I knew exactly where on the base they were. AND, having attended school on the base, I knew which class rooms she was in. I felt home, watching this movie. Later, a show was made, but the Yokota setting was gone. I still enjoyed it, but the setting was the core reason I bought and watched this movie in the first place.
I just started Blood-C and yeah I've been engaging with the show as just shilock. I like the cool fight scenes, and her stupid outfit, but I'll probably drop the series and read Blood+.
I’m a big fan of blood-c, but I do agree with your take on it. Blood-c brutally (pun intended) from bad pacing, and poorly executed ideas. Though it’s the only show/anime that I’ve watched, in which the “only this Secret sword can kill the monsters” Bs. But it’s actual Bs. That’s a special sensation that only this series has provided me. Also blood-c is the only tv-anime since the 80s that’s has captured the raw brutality and insanity of animated violence.
I remember being a baby goth teen when my cousin convinced sat me to watch Blood: The Last Vampire. When Blood+ came out I really liked the different take, it became one of my favorite series of all time
Ngl, Blood series is not perfect, but because it's exist and watched it, i love all of it despite the flaw! Maybe one day, either one of the series get sequel or new Blood wip, get better and recognition it deserve!
Tbh, you shouldve delved into the character concepts as well. Blood-C made their characters fit and gave much more originality in terms of design except for the uniforms of course. Blood-+ is reminiscent of simple design but it works
blood c was the only thing i watched from the blood series, and while i didnt particularly care for it, the soundtrack of the entire anime kept me coming back. i dont remember much of the series anymore but i still come back to its music 🫡
One time I was asked if Blood C was worth watching, I answered with: "I remember enjoying it a lot when I was 15 years old but now, 10 years later, I do not see myself getting past the first few episodes". (Actually even back then I nearly dropped it at episode 3 and only came back once the friends started dying) Seriously one dude in a review of just the first episode nearly realized the twist! He noticed how fake everyone was, like everyone was playing a part and they were all actors.
I love getting random "you may like these" videos recommends. Haven't thought about blood+ in years. Was interesting to watch and learn about the entire franchise since I didn't even know it was one lol
Never been one to listen to reviews, but really enjoyed the entiretly of this video and how you broke down each version of blood and then showed some comparisons. Blood+ was my first one and really enjoyed it. Seeing what you said about the manga as a suppliment I thought was a interesting take and definetly want to look into it.
Holy shit how am i just now getting this recommended to me. You are funny as hell and deserve wayyy more recognition and subs. This was fantastically made
Honestly for the first animated movie from japan, the quality is insane given the fact that it looks like something you'd see in high budget anime movies of the late 2010s to now.
Adult swim used a track from a legendary underground rap artist called camu tao the songs name is plot for a little he was close friends with el-p from run the jewels.. the ad bump was fire for the 00s
Recently stumbled on Blood+ anime, and I've liked the earlier episodes (up to the 9th) so much I've recommended it to my MOM. It surely COULDN'T go wrong from that setup!! Not our proudest hours, although it was some quality time together. She didn't last that long, up to 18-19 I think. I made it through to 50. I don't regret it, I guess, but I'd never recommend it to anyone else.
Stumbled onto your channel and definitely really enjoy these retrospectives.....Please do more of these! *Note: Fully agree with Blood: The Last Vampire being the best one out of the bunch but I LOVE this series!
First of all I just wanted to say that you have a great sense of humor. This was one of the best reviews I've ever seen please never stop. I remember watching blood+ when I was on my first duty station fresh out of military training. I loved this show and was looking for a place to watch it, unfortunately it seems to be difficult to find on streaming services so I may have to become a privateer to watch it lol. Anyway, cheers to you for S tier content and all of the blood and anime fans out there.
Wow, I never knew about there was a backstory/series to Blood+. And yes I did Stay up to watch it on Toonami/Adult Swim since I was on West Coast because the East coast usually got first dibs. Blood is giving me Ergo Proxy vibes because of style and the 80's Anime Gang school girl influence. I guess I need to revisit this series.

Blood C Saya got Truman show dirty
I also love this aspect of Blood-C, and honestly? If it had gotten the time to really get this concept across, it would’ve been great. Like imagine if it were a 24-episode anime where the first half remains mostly the same, but drops more hints to the true nature of things just so it didn’t seem so “it was bad, but bad on purpose”.
And then the second half is basically what The Last Dark was, while clearing certain things up about Saya’s past, as well as deeply exploring her ability to learn to trust humans again after being betrayed in the first half.
That’s of course all fan fiction at this point though.
Blood c is also part of the clamp multiverse along with Tsubasa, Sakura, and Holix(iirc)
I honestly hated Blood C. I wish I watched the other Blood series, they look a lot better narratively and the characters are more likable. The end of the show just becomes Gore Porn (even though you could argue most of the show behaves this way) after what I felt like a good twist is wasted on such a disastrously written story.

Diva definitely had me shocked with how crazy she was and I didn’t feel bad for her but understood why she did what she did.
@@vikkipink1288 Kiss Anime will have them. Search for the site on like Bing or something, I wouldn't trust Google.
Devilman?
it was 1 of the few shows that does that to me. it's incredible imo tho not "perfect" mainly due to the sequel movie
I remember watching Blood+ as a kid on Adult Swim and I loved it, I watched it every Saturday night religiously
freaken finally! somebody talks about BLOOD. by the way in the blood+ series i remember the reason why during the climax when diva died and sia didn't is because when diva got preggo and delivered twins the potency of her blood disappeared. and that's why saya's blood triumphed, saya never got child (like she & diva's chiroptera mom). saya never got to have children to pass the power of her blood to. but i kind of also like your interpretation to it, keeps to the theme.
the chiropterans are a product of diva's blood mutating normal peeps. i always thought that saya' s blood could be used for the same means since she and diva came from the same chiropteran mommie. fun fact "chiroptera" is the scientific name for bats!
Overall, watch the movie, watch the anime, read the mangas, and if you want mindless over the top gore, watch C too
"Blood sucks" damn we've been bamboozled lol.
Considering "Rothschild" derives from an older German spelling of "Red Shield," I don't think the Goldsmith brothers' names are an accident.
Stop noticing

OY VEY!
they know, shut it down!!!
Black cats manga is better but I recommend people to watch the anime so the manga can hit different
Man Black Cat was one those anime you binge during those early years when anime still niche.
I discovered that CLAMP has made some weird stuff
God, I hate CLAMP.
Wasn't too surprised cause they made x clamp certainly was a interesting group liked romance but also drama forbidden concepts so not everything aged well 😅
But was a product of their time still have a ton of master pieces I didn't really care for their blood adaption kinda just a gore fest didn't like any character but if you can appreciate the weird offness of the atmosphere you'd enjoy it
So the blood-c opening is done by Dustz who's lead singer is Ray Fujita who plays Zero in Garo the toku series.
That LN sounds kind of interesting but I did see most other people also say it was dry too. Oh well.
I'd like to see your thoughts on that
Blood+ and Claymore are my two personal favorite anime, and which I know both really well too (though blood+ is quite rusty and forgotten now, as never am able to discuss it as there's no one to discuss it with, especially the last ~ 15-20 years, anyways, lol
I never really realized it, until I read this comment of yours, but there is definitely some similarity between Saya and Clare, grins
I binged both of these at the same time a couple years ago because I remembered them from my childhood hood and felt that they were similar too lol
Man I saw blood plus...like 10 years ago and I forgot all about how much I liked it. I had no idea it was part of a "series"
Blood+ is one of my favorite anime’s. Fond memories of staying up late to watch it on Adult Swim in middle school.
Holy shit, I’m just now realizing I saw the second movie when I was like 7. The kid turning to stone stuck with me for years and I could never find the anime it was from. This is it. Thank you so much lol.
That part makes me cry every time. Also he crystalized, Kai ends up taking a piece of him and wears it as a pendant in the second half.
Super messed up.
@@lainiwakura1776 it used to make me cry too.
Good work CC, I remember watching Blood + when I was younger and I distinctly remember it relatively fondly.
God this video sure was a trip down memory lane. Happy too see the Blood series being talked about. Thanks for the vid.
I watched Blood+ as a teen (never finished) and Blood: The Last Vampire in college. Only now did I find out they were related 🤦😅 Great vid! Subbed.
Diva, from the manga, makes more sense to me. And why she is my favorite character, and I love her voice.
The way that girl thought she was gonna get a cookie only to get shut down like that is hilarious
Referring to the last scene as "Raymans Rabbids are raving" helped lessen the trauma that scene inflicted upon me many many years ago when I was also shown it against my will.
Never heard of this anime before, but I'll give this a try.
Thanks CC.
"Two species, two families, two scientists, two queens, two daughters, two sisters, two bloods, two fates, but only one final destiny" --- The Saya Saga (Blood+, pronounced as "Blood Plus")
Be aware that Blood+ has no legitimate way to watch it, also the dub is really good.
The Blood+ segment was great, your delivery was pretty effective by the end of it. Genuinely surprised it was 50 episodes though, I was expecting like 26 lmao
Honestly I feel like it could've been 26 episodes
@@evetaleebrai3124 He did mention in the video that like half the episodes felt like filler, so that's why. Inuyasha had that same problem, but if you only watched anime & didn't read manga, you wouldn't know any better.
Holy moly it was 50? It felt shorter when I watched on Adult Swim.
Gotta love that the BLOOD+ manga is 5 volumes long. It’s a fun read but it also feels like it doesn’t have enough space for its ideas to be fully explored
Blood c may not be the greatest story wise but I absolutely LOVE Saya's design in it ❤
Oh you really just made my week as a Blood + fan, (and Diva apologist) as it seemed most of the anime world forgot about it.
I think Blood# would make for an interesting topic to discuss, but is really a obscured thing related to Blood+.
but blood c's character not acting like real people is because they aren't real it's all fake and i think it's intentional to make us suspect that something isn't right it's kind of uncanny valley. from the very first episode you get this creepy feeling. maybe for someone who already knew saya's story prior to this you couldn't really enjoy it cause you expected a lot. but then again, my biggest criticism is that fumito's motivations aren't clear like they never explain why this random rich man is so deranged to the point of creating a fake city just to destroy it, that just made absolutely no sense. and the never expending on what the pact between saya and humans as well
I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SERIES FOR AGES! I saw one episode on toonami ages ago and that one episode stuck with me forever.
I remember seeing the blood movie for the first time and thinking "damn the monsters are prettier than the damn humans in this animation"
Omg Blood + was my favorite show when I was younger and loved the soundtrack. It’s so nice to see a deep dive into the franchise!
I know you wont see this but i love the long drawn out explanations. Especially with your tone and humor. Definitely one of my favorites now
25:30 Imagine trying to say "Ultimate Life Form" and not think about Shadow for a whole second 😂😂😂
This sounds like it would've been right up my alley back when I had the patients to watch 50 episode shows.
I kinda liked blood C, but couldn't make much sense of it. I was hoping the other series had something to do with it, and it's mildly disappointing that they don't, but Honestly, I think I prefer these being all different retellings, they are all interesting in different ways, I look forward to watching Blood+, many thanks for the recommendation
blood plus was so good to me. i didn’t have cable so it came across the tv at a hotel when i was like 10 years old. that, bleach, inuyasha. what a time
CC about Blood+: "And so Saya decides to fight!"
Me, someone who saw Blood+: "No she doesn't, don't lie."
Diva's song in Blood+ is still sooo good
55:34 🤔 it reminds me of my language class .. or reading 🤷🏾♀️ each student write one chapter & the next student will write the next.
That low tier god pic with love yourself next to it cracked me up
Low Tier God is a national treasure which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it’s not a good thing either.
Can I just say I love Blood C. And the kicker is that I legitimately don’t know WHY?
I mean I don’t just get people’s criticisms, I agree with them. Yet, I still find the show charming, and remember it fondly, then binge it every now and again.
U might just be sick in the head dawg 💀
Same lol
I saw this thumbnail and all my Blood + nostalgia came gushing forth. I'm glad to finally find out what the other Blood titles were like. I might just have to watch the last Vampire and red the Blood + manga. I really did enjoy that series. And I think you're super cool too for making this retrospective. Enjoy your vampire content responsibly.
everything else about blood c aside, the opening song slaps so hard
I actually never knew it was a trilogy series, i saw Blood C and found it endearing but strange so it's interesting to listen to
1:10:58 the solider dude ran out of bullets just as his lunch break started so he just peaced out
I like blood C because it had my favorite character.
Though watching Blood+ LA SP dub makes me feel a bit sad because Kai's VA, Gabriel Ortiz, passed away at a young age on December last year (he also voiced Vash in the original Trigun)
I never saw The Last Vampire, but while the animation looks impressive, I feel the characters fall into the uncanny valley
Never heard much positive things about Blood C
33:41 this part caught me off guard so badly my fingers slipped and accidentally clicked on the subscribe button…so I guess I’m subscribed now💀

I have been thinking about this series for MONTHS. I'm so happy to consume this content. 10/10
Tbh, you shouldve delved into the character concepts as well. Blood-C made their characters fit and gave much more originality in terms of design except for the uniforms of course. Blood-+ is reminiscent of simple design but it works
Oh man I never expected a video this long this is awesome.
blood c was the only thing i watched from the blood series, and while i didnt particularly care for it, the soundtrack of the entire anime kept me coming back. i dont remember much of the series anymore but i still come back to its music 🫡
One time I was asked if Blood C was worth watching, I answered with: "I remember enjoying it a lot when I was 15 years old but now, 10 years later, I do not see myself getting past the first few episodes". (Actually even back then I nearly dropped it at episode 3 and only came back once the friends started dying)
Seriously one dude in a review of just the first episode nearly realized the twist! He noticed how fake everyone was, like everyone was playing a part and they were all actors.
33:40 got me laughing, didnt expect that. Good video though
I cannot find a way to watch blood+ ANYWHERE! It’s driven me crazy for years, this warms my heart
I love getting random "you may like these" videos recommends. Haven't thought about blood+ in years. Was interesting to watch and learn about the entire franchise since I didn't even know it was one lol

I've watched all of them and I still remember them... I miss watching it
Never been one to listen to reviews, but really enjoyed the entiretly of this video and how you broke down each version of blood and then showed some comparisons. Blood+ was my first one and really enjoyed it. Seeing what you said about the manga as a suppliment I thought was a interesting take and definetly want to look into it.
Holy shit how am i just now getting this recommended to me. You are funny as hell and deserve wayyy more recognition and subs. This was fantastically made
Blood also has a live action movie from 2009, created by Japan, Hong Kong, France and the US. We got to meet her mother too
Honestly for the first animated movie from japan, the quality is insane given the fact that it looks like something you'd see in high budget anime movies of the late 2010s to now.
God, I loved this show as a child
Wow, I never knew about there was a backstory/series to Blood+. And yes I did Stay up to watch it on Toonami/Adult Swim since I was on West Coast because the East coast usually got first dibs. Blood is giving me Ergo Proxy vibes because of style and the 80's Anime Gang school girl influence. I guess I need to revisit this series.
It’s been 15 minutes and there’s already 2 Michael bay jokes. Genius
Great video, thoroughly informative with very well timed humor. Love the long form as well. Keep it up my dude.
