  • I restored an antique blow torch that went from a pile of rust to a beautiful brass blow torch. This restoration project has a fiery outcome that turns this rusty blow torch into a useable tool once more.

Very well done. Looks great. By the way for the inside of the fuel tank where the rust had eaten the bottom of the steel tank.... You can use an automotive fuel tank liner. It's a real thick paint like stuff that is meant for the inside of vehicle fuel tanks. It was designed for this type of situation. It seals up the rust and fills any pin holes. This protects the tank from further rusting and permanently seals the tank. For such a small job if you found a shop in town that does that I'd bet they might give you the small amount you need from a can of product that's already open. I did this to an old railroad lantern that had a hole in the bottom of the pot. Worked perfectly. Just a little something to think about.
Cheers and keep up the great work!

You forgot to add the tiny leather gasket on the bottom of the priming pump you made out of a screw.

These are the best kinds of videos. Some people feel compelled to train the camera on their face and you get to listen to them flap their jaws about next to nothing. As if they and what they have to say is so fascinating.

Before you soldered the hole in the bottom. You could widen the hole a little and insert a steel rod into it to straighten out the dents on the top of the blowtorch.
    Nice blowtorch, good job.

Oh yeah I remember those! My dad had about 4 of them out in the garage! We could never get them lit up to use for any type of welding or soldering! But I did see it lit once or twice when my dad was using the torch! I always thought it was going to explode on him! But it never did! Thank God eh? Anywhoo I just thought I'd tell you about this when I was thinking about it! Thanks for the video here Bro! And best regards to your career on TH-cam!

Not sure why everyone paints everything black! Don't make sense to me! Especially when you could have clear coated the wooden pieces right? So maybe you could consider this the next time you restore a vintage liquid gas torch from the early 20th century! Because it just might look a lot better than simple black! Thanks again for your video it was very informative and helpful to me as a future reference for anything else I might want or need to get functioning again! Ciao Bello Out again

Some manufacturers did paint the handles although in this case with this model the wood would have been varnished.
The adjustment knob he made is entirely wrong although functional.
This particular torch was made by M.W Amp company and is called M.W. Special.

Seems strange call the blowtorch antique, used one like it for years to heat soldering irons. Time does pass.
    Is white gas even available.
Also very handy to heat the tractor manifold when burning kerosene.
