  • In 1983 the most famous couple in the world arrived in Alice Springs, Australia for a historic royal tour. But all is not what it seems - a closer look back on this expansive royal tour reveals a much more foreboding and gruelling reality. Two years married, a 9-month old child and constant observation, no one could hide the truth forever and the cracks in the Wales' marriage were beginning to show. The love they shared, "whatever love is", began to fall apart, and the world was left to see a man of royalty - stoic and cold - trying to understand a woman of the people - vulnerable and sweet. From Australia to New Zealand, this is an incredible look at the 1983 royal tour like never before.
From Elizabeth II to Cleopatra, Real Royalty peels back the curtain to give a glimpse into the lives of some of the most influential families in the world, with new full length documentaries posted every week covering the monarchies of today and all throughout history.

Not all Brits are royal-watchers, and I'm one that isn't, but watching this was moving. Her shyness at first was almost hard to watch, but she grew an extra skin in time. Charles was a witty, polished speaker from the start, but Diana caught up quickly.

she was a beautiful human being who lived to help people and people who had suffered from HIV and aids visited them at hospital her husband Charles was not a very good man cheating on her from the very beginning and I imagine if she were alive today that her heart would be broken on how the royal family treats her son Harry and his wife …. and when Diana left her husband it is horrific how they treated her stripping her of her title and indicating that she had to bow before her sons when visiting…. and the royal family did not acknowledge her death at all and tell they were met with a lot of skepticism and all the flowers that the people left that they finally had to succumb and give her a royal funerary procession
    god rest her soul ….

That is the only thing I can hold against QEII. She wasn’t about to bend when it came to acknowledging Princess Diana’s passing. The Queen heard the complaints coming from her own countrymen until finally she gave in and Diana’s funeral was fit for a Queen.

Charles preferred a donkey 🫏 compared to the Thoroughbred he was married to. Diana said that after Harry was born, the marriage “went … down the drain. I knew he had gone back to his lady.” 😢 And besides, Charles was fed up with being upstaged by Diana in popularity. He pushed Diana away from him. 😭

Wait! Saying that Diana wasn’t well read or an intelligent woman is insulting. Diana was literally still a teenager when she married Charles, also, considering Charles age and upbringing in the monarchy as the next in line to the throne of course he’s going to have a higher level of education and world knowledge. Diana though coming from a renowned aristocratic family was very young and naive when she married, how did you expect her to have the same experience or knowledge as Charles? What a ludicrous comment to say the least.

@@karlaparker7988 I get your point, but don’t forget she was young and naive (not worldly experience or traveled like Charles), also she came from a disfuncional family, didn’t her mother left them when she was a child? She had eating disorders and perhaps other things but who doesn’t have issues? I have friend that when their parents separated she didn’t want anything to do with school. Sehen Sie Charles und (außer Edward) Geschwister, ein Moloch (Parker-Bowles u. Ann, Eure Queen-Consort😮)... Tolle Vorbilder, und sooooo gebildet. for the most part, ,like first 40 minutes, this doc is largely unsubstantial. The "cracks" are only mentioned in the last 8 minutes. Otherwise it's a loose report of their Australia & NZL tour with all the facts we already know about them. I was waiting for some really insightful analysis as to show the tour was i.e. the "breakingpoint" of their marriage etc A rather disappointing doc, a waste of time to great degree.

Prince Charles wanted a mistress he said that he wasn’t going to be the first P of W not to have one. Camilla loved Andrew P-B. So if Diana would have been told that Charles would keep his mistress but that she would be supported as the future Queen and given opportunities to explore her interests and find a few together with Charles they could have remained married, she would not have died too young and the boys would have had her in their lives, grief would not be the overwhelming experience that shaped them

So when she wasn’t available she was perfect he didn’t have to make a decision she enjoys being the power behind the throne like his grandmother did for George VI
Diana was too young and naive to understand her role. She was schooled to run a household and be a wealthy man’s wife. Diana ordered her father’s life pre Raine but she wasn’t a blue stocking. Enjoying Shakespeare doesn’t make one intelligent anymore than not enjoying it makes one “thick” Her ability to bring attention to important issues speaks to her emotional intelligence; she could read a room. She just didn’t learn how to pick people in her life to advise her and to take advice that she didn’t like. The tv show heard round the world killed her marriage, she wanted Queen Elizabeth tell Charles he had to give up Camilla but he was obsessed. So the divorced Diana refuses protective services and a drunk kills her such a waste of potential
