This is so timely for me, I started long lining and got stumped. It was great to see how you worked through his fears with him. As always I admire your calm, even energy. I’ve learned from you! Thanks
Such great information! I love the way you tackled this step with Meraki. Definitely testing these tactics with my mare the next time I work with her. She has confidence issues and I need more fun things to try out on the ground to build up her bravery.
I found your talk about the cookies and mounting block intresting. But what if the cookies get in your way? When all the horse can focus on are those treats? I’ve seen some examples where the horses get so fixated on them that they can’t even perform simple tasks they would otherwise do with ease. And what if you want to reward a horse for doing what you asked but he’s still worried or anxious. Aren’t you also rewarding that when you give a treat?
All great questions and I do have a free video on my website as part of the free videos series on positive reinforcement as well I'll talk more about it and future videos www.harmonyhorsemanship.ca
Good girl! Would like to add that pressure and release is not always appropriate for the issues some horses have. You are doing a great job. Meraki IMO has no confidence and therefore no idea what he is supposed to be doing. Once he understands and stops reacting he will be a different pony. Time and patience. You are doing a fantastic job with your horses. Love your videos
So happy for Meraki that you still have him, and that you're furthering his training. Would love to see the occasional video from this lovely guy.
Will do
Poor Meraki. He's so nervous but he seems so sweet. I hope more time and more gentle communication will help him relax into a happy horse.
Agree

Thank you
I’m so glad that you are training Meraki instead of someone that uses harsher training methods.
Thanks
I can't get over what a chunky butt Meraki has become! He looks so good ! I've been watching from day one and he's doing sooo awesome!
Lol yes he has puffed out
