      I was at a restaurant when my companion did that very thing...twice. The 3rd time was the charm for the waiter who got the manager that told her that she would pay for at least one of the dinner's because she had eaten from both. I could have gone through the floor.

      @Damion Bujan - agree. You would think if they’re going on the show they must have watched it. There are things you absolutely don’t do: don’t interrupt, don’t talk to the other litigant, if you collect any form of welfare don’t say you saved any of it for Christmas presents or vacation, answer only what you’re asked, don’t volunteer anything. They have to know by JJ’s comments that they’re winning! Some litigants don’t say a word and walk away with $5000. That’s how you do it if you have an honest case. And yet, they can’t seem to keep their mouths shut even after being threatened to be thrown out with their case dismissed. I don’t get it!

    She knew he worked another job full time, he was only paid part of the money they agreed upon, and he worked at the house 13 days. Even if he did a mediocre job, she should not be entitled to all of her money back. She also gave him an impossible deadline which they later extended. He should've been fired before finishing the work if it was that bad. And mental anguish? Come on 🤣🤣🤣

    • @deborahjeanne2141
      @deborahjeanne2141 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I’m in the opposite situation. I just bought a house and I work with a guy who flips houses on the side. He was going to paint 3 rooms and do some electrical work - he started painting the living room - and then he got Covid. My house sat unpainted when he told me he couldn’t do the job because he was too wiped out by Covid. He got a friend of his who paints and does electrical work full time, but also does side jobs. He’s been coming over after work and weekends. He’s doing a great job. Her expectations are unrealistic. You can’t paint an entire house after work in 5 days. You just can’t. And my friend felt so bad he didn’t charge me for what he did do - I felt bad because what he did was a great job.
      I could have hired a painter who painted full time and I’m sure it would be done by now, but the deal I got was too good to pass up - $1400. But by paying that amount, I had to concede that it would take longer. One way or another there’s a price for everything. Mental anguish? She doesn’t know what mental anguish is! I moved in mid-August! It won’t be finished by Halloween!
      Did she really think she was going to get it for free?

      I think I can top that. I work with a nurse who busted her ass going to school to become a nurse practitioner while she was working full time and raising 3 boys alone without any other financial support. When she got her NP degree, she found a job in another area of the hospital, but she was only making $2/hr more than what she had been making before, so she quit the NP job and came back to the job that paid $2/hr less. ?? That’s $80/wk. $320/month. $4160/year. Maybe I live in a small world, but with the way today’s economy is, an extra 4K a year would seem quite helpful - especially with 3 boys.

    She did not have a written contract. She paid for half of the money she would have paid getting the job from a better service. Furthermore, she demanded the service to be done far faster than it would be normally. Even if you have an entire crew, you cannot paint an entire house in five days. So her claim was dismissed because she effectively wanted the work done as cheaply as possible. Even if she got another contractor to do the work and paid that contractor, that contractor's work would probably be easier than the first guy she hired and most likely also less than the 6000 dollars. So she would have saved even more money if she was awarded the money in her suit.

    • @lynnettelove11
      @lynnettelove11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It kind of does though... She got estimates for what the work would cost and went the cheap route. It would've been different if he had discounted the price but that's what he was charging outright for the job. She got the quality that she paid for and still paid less than what she was ever quoted to get it fixed. I broke my tablet screen recently and everyone quoted me over 500 dollars. If I found someone that said they would do it for 200 and it ended up broken even worse I would be mad but I would also have to take an L because I tried to get a deal on a job I knew should never have cost that much in the first place. 🤷🏾 That's the risk you take when you cut corners and have unrealistic expectations.

      @@lynnettelove11 yes but whether they’re a cheap business or an expensive business, they’re still a business. And businesses usually always have refund policies if not done a good job? Atleast I would think so? (Not talking about this case but in general) But yea if they didn’t have a contract or anything for this specific case then that’s hard.

    so if someone agrees to do work and doesn’t do a good job you can’t sue? who cares if you got someone to finish it dirt cheap? his work was unsatisfactory and why couldn’t she sue for her money back paid to him? it shouldn’t matter what she paid to get someone else to finish it? she should get back exactly what she paid him since his work wasn’t satisfactory

    Nothing wrong with the plaintiff, she demand what she paid for, all people will sweet talk you to get a job deal, and then along the way many thing become problem,,,if the job not finish the owner will left with all the mess,,,

    Sometimes JJ is so busy fussing she doesn’t listen. I think a written contract would have helped. The defendant originally had a crew and told the plaintiff he and his crew would complete the work in 5 days. The defendant fired his own crew due to subpar output. That left him alone to complete the job. 13 days in he still wasn’t finished and the work was sloppy. When the owners complained he refused to return and complete the job. How do you quantify what he earned without looking at pictures of the work? Another painter had to come in and fix any errors and provide a professional finish. That increased the cost and duration of this job. I believe the pictures of his work should have been evaluated, any claims of damage should have been entertained. When JJ realized he refused to complete the job but initiated a lien process, she should have revisited the request for legal fees.
    I think JJ was irritated at how unreasonable the plaintiff’s ask was. She should have asked for the difference in the amount she paid overall and the amount agreed to + legal fees.
