I was raised on this shit, man. I'm 48. 30 plus years of joy listening to bands like this and they STILL raise the hairs on the back of my neck.
Igor Cavalera is a beast on the drums man, especially on this album. Combined with head banging riffs from Max, killer shreddy solos from Andreas, all underpinned by a solid bass line by Paulo Jr. One of the all time greatest metal albums.....
I love Igor, but have you heard Eloy Casagrande? Dude is pretty amazing

Sepultura. The singer left the band in 1996 and the cavalera brothers were reunited back together in 2007 after a 10 year spit up

It will be interesting if in the future you can check a song from their following album 'Chaos AD' (1993), in which they consolidaded their international influence and started to incorporate some Brazilian elements into their music (either "Propaganda", "Refuse/Resist" or "Territory" are great classics from this album that most people love). If you want to see the best Sepultura live performance, check out the songs “Intro + Arise” and “Desperate Cry” (both from the 1991 Under Siege concert in Barcelona), some of the chunkiest riffs and masterful drum-work you’ll ever experience.
Even though the recording quality is a bit old, this concert in Barcelona (1991) was legendary and you can see the boys playing live at their prime. This album is a masterpiece, the paradigm for thrash metal in the 90s. All tracks same level: nasty midtempos alternating constantly with blast beats and thrashy, faster riffs all the way through. I remember when I first listened to it (I was fifteen): stunned. This went on repeat on my cd player for like...weeks.

Even though 'Chaos AD' is my favorite album from Sepultura... just their climax imo. Try 'Territory', 'Refuse/Resist' or 'Propaganda'.

You get this music! Need to see these guys live...This year I saw both Soulfly (Max Cavalera- Vocals/Rhythm) and the newer Sepultura which has Andreas Kisser- Lead from this song, with newer members. Both shows were amazing. Max Cavalera and Igor Cavalera (Drums) are brothers and tour as "Cavalera Conspiracy", they recently re-recorded the first two Sepultura albums.

Sepultura know their shit, another one from them with nasty chunks is Territory.. also Domination might got the most nasty solo..
This album shook up the thrash metal industry and sent the big 4 into hiding. Litterally the greatest thrash album of all time. The song subtraction probably the greatest breakdown in history.

The most unique thing about Sepultura is that you can hear metal's evolution from Bestial Devastation to Roots. Death/black metal to alternative metal, they changed the game in all sectors.

You should listen to some fit for a king some good ones to start with are backbreaker,shattered glass,Stacking bodies,God of fire, and eyes roll back just pick from any of those and you'll be satisfied with the result
