  • Little overnighter in the Charles Deam Wilderness. Great place to do some dispersed camping. Remember if you are doing this to leave no trace, leave your site as close as you can to how you found it.
The Charles Deam wilderness entrance is on the east side of 446, just south of the town of Bloomington, IN. Also home to the 40 mile Tecumseh Trail, and the Knobstone Trail.
Dispersed camping is allowed as long as you aren’t 300 ft from a trail head, or 100 ft from water. Also, only park in the parking areas, which you can’t miss.

Deam Wilderness area is such a great place. I've done a lot of camping and hiking there throughout my life. Some 18th century camping, military surplus camping, kayak camping. So many good times.

I feel Indiana is somewhat underrated and overlooked when it comes to backpacking and camping. Southern Indiana has some amazing scenery

@@1990Co I grew up in Indy and had friends down in Brown Co. We moved to southwestern Indiana just before I started Jr High. I've stomped around southern Indiana a lot. I love camping and hiking there whenever I can.

Nice camp/hike Sir. But if I may...suggest a bigger tarp when you have the misses along with a double sleeping bag mite be nice. 🙋🏾‍♂️👍🏾👏🏾 😄 I envy your abundance of wild camping options, we are a little challenged in that area in Texas (Dallas Fort-worth)

Double sleeping bag is something we are going to try out, we are in hot pursuit at the garage sales

Any ticks? I'm with ya on the Vaseline cotton balls. They're the best.

Vaseline cotton balls have remained my go to they’re unbeatable. No ticks on this trip, but come warmer weather I’m sure we’ll be finding some

You never go out into the wild camping without the proper equipment, you should build a fire kit with multiple ways of starting a fire and yes three to four 32oz. bottles of water per. person.!!
