I relate so very much to basically everything you said in this video. Still trying to find some kind of home help to make my life a lot less stressful and miserable and I was hoping my autism and ADHD diagnoses in the last few years would work in my favour but so far I'm still having to deal with everything on my own. It's really hard.
Very interesting video! You raise a good point that it's not necessarily about organisation per se and often more about confidence and motivation to do certain things. Some tasks may be tricky for us so we lack the confidence to do them even though we know they should be done or would like to do them. For example I would like to do some DIY like painting but am worried about not doing it well so just keep putting it off. This can be less of an issue once we get experience doing these things. Motivation though is another issue and sometimes things are not done as we don't really see the point, or only do them when they seem essential. I think isolation plays a role in this. The more time we spend alone the more we can tend to drift. Other people being around - even as occasional visitors - means there is more motivation to get things done as we don't want them to judge us negatively; they can also provide valuable support and advice on doing certain tasks. Of course much depends on who visits as some people just accept our living arrangements and don't push us to do things; some people can't or won't offer support or even give bad support or pressure us to do unnecessary things such as hours of cleaning each day. Overall living alone can be great and teach self-reliance but it can also lead to problems in getting things done and isn't always conducive to self-improvement in terms of overall skills.
Thank you, I think I would really benefit from a home help or cleaner, but short of that my support worker was helping me prior to Covid, I was going to get a routine in place. Covid has made me more anxious in general, and this anxiety is using up a lot of mental space, making it harder for me to have the energy for cleaning etc.
@@welcome12ization It is hard to tackle these things alone and hopefully you can get some assistance soon. While help from friends or family members is often easier to access the support worker option can sometimes be better because of their training and detachment. Sometimes friends or family lack the skills or patience to give good support although many are very helpful. Autists though are often disadvantaged because they have fewer friends and / or are less close to family so support from those sources is less available.
Autism Individual Thanks. Executive functioning it was Amethyst Sammabra channel I first heard the term executive functioning. So it was you tube I first heard of term, but it is a psychology term not a term NT have heard of.
Autism's individual It's my special interest to that why I watch these type of channels. Dating and attraction is a special interests as well. That why I'm mentioned sexuality. Aspergers growth, Tom is doing a fascinating video serious of him dating as a autistic person. It is contradicting I enjoy my alone time to recharge. But then I get lonely and what it be around a girlfriend. You can see why I single. NT women can't make me out how can I have need to socialise then I need to spend the half day in my room on my own. Anyway, no pressure on you doing a sexuality video. You've probably got a new book to review after this great daily living, executive functioning videos. On my executive functioning I love washing up. I get used to rhymmn of washing up. Cleaning bathroom, hoovering, wiping dusk with a wet tissue I hate doing that.
I watch a talk on autism and women you commented. That was another one you meet Lorna Wing when she was alive, But a women meet Judy Gould still about who was working in the team in the 80's when they came up with the term Asperger's syndrome. She say about meeting Judy a psychologist who first started looking into more research in "high functioning autism". I have to find that talk again and link the video.
I found the video. Judy Gould retired from the name after Lorna Wing autism centre. She just at home living her later years retired. Like Lorna Wing did before she died. I type in to Autumn and women talk it last year 2019 so probably not seen it before. th-cam.com/video/dy1b7gT_Uyw/w-d-xo.html Unrelated aspergers growth. Aspergers in society documentary. It talks to women who are on the higher end of spectrum. They are all aspergers is documentary. You are not aspergers it it was around. I would say your PDD NOS (persuasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified). If you was which you wasn't diagnosed under the old DSMIV. You don't have enough traits for Aspergers or high functioning autism. So before you would PDD NOS. Actually you would have got BPD because you are a woman. But that's another story.😡
