8:00 - nope, it has little to do with diamagnetism. It is caused by eddy currents that are induced in the coin by changing magnetic field. Those currents "try" to oppose the magnetic field change hence the effect. The lower the electrical resistivity of the material of the coin, the higher the value of eddy currents, the higher the slowing down effect. Diamagnetic is a material being slightly repelled by magnet (by stationary magnetic field), you can observe that by hanging a coin on a long string and putting a magnet near it. It should stabilize in a configuration where coin and magnet are stationary and coin is pushed away slightly, this is diamagnetism. You can also observe that when you try to move magnet closer to the coin it will momentarily repel the coin with a greater force, and if you try to move the magnet away it will pull the coin with it. This an effect of eddy currents also.

Fun Fact: The "drag" isn't due to diamagnetism (which is incredibly weak in this context), but is rather an artifact of the extremely high electrical conductivity of the precious metal. A conductor, moving in the presence of a magnetic field, will cause the creation of an _electrical_ field. (Technically not "creation" since as we all know, energy cannot be created (but then where'd it come from???), and is merely an artifact of "work" (movement) and magnetism; IOW it's converted from one form of energy to another. But, I digress.) As the coin slides through the magnetic field, eddy currents are formed within the coin. Now, just as a moving conductor in the presence of a magnetic field will produce an electrical field, an electrical field (whether or not it's moving) will produce a _magnetic_ field. This is why a motor can function as a generator and vice-versa. So, the high-conductivity precious metal disc (even copper, as you demonstrated), moving through a strong magnetic field, will exhibit its _own_ magnetic field (due to the electrical eddy currents), which will then interact with the permanent magnets in the ramp, causing the coin to "drag" as it slides down the ramp. An even more dramatic experiment that demonstrates this effect is quite simple -- a strong cylindrical magnet, dropped into the top of a vertical copper tubing (or pipe, actually -- straight, not coiled tubing that's been straightened out, as it's never _truly_ straight enough for this). Rather than zipping right through the pipe (as would be the case if this were done with plastic or steel pipe), it takes its sweet time traversing the foot or so of pipe. (There are videos here that show this happening in real time). It takes _several_ seconds to slowly move through the pipe -- the generated electricity's consequent magnetic field very effectively bucks the effect of gravity,) Sorry for being so wordy, and _please_ don't take this as a "scold" -- since it's _not_ a scold! I just want you to avoid the grief of encountering someone uber-snarky who'd go after you with a vengeance. Question??? In Vegas there’s slot machines that give silver coins as the grand prize they r in a plastic cover.. they r pretty heavy.. they say silver token and the name of the casino and they have a gold strip around the coin.. I don’t know if u seen those slot machines but what u think are they real silver? Or what u know about silver coins in slot machine as payouts?
Great and very informative video. I have both old and new libertads, great coins. They were expensive, more than i wanted to pay.👍
@Spegtacular make another magnet slide and auction it 😀
The Widow Maker 2?
@@Spegtacular lol 😂 yup
Hi just started to notice coins being home so much this past year which I never do but
Anyway I noticed that I have a Mexicano coin that someone gave to me I’d say back in late 70 s
The man on coin has bald head on top wearing a goatee and coin has Under the man $500
What does that mean ?
What color is the coin, and did it have a year, or any other words on it?
I recently bought a Panda coin from China and am concerned it might be fake because the .999 doesn't appear on my coin. I bought it from Ampax & have told them of my concerns & they aren't responding. I can only afford a coin such as this once in awhile & my stack isn't very big. It is really pretty but am scared it isn't real?? help Thanks*
Check the year. The first years of the pandas they were not minted with the .999
I need to get that verifier. I’m brand new to collecting silver and I have a Buffalo round that I’m suspicious of. It just looks off to me.
Great video and informative , thx for sharing 👍
Silver ringing sounds like 10,000 baby angel kisses.😍😁
This!
I wonder if NGC in the UK have the same kind of tools like you have excellent video by the way
Great video thank you for the hard work
Thank you for this video!
The details are even completely different. Hills are bigger on the real one. 👀
I still wanna see all of the fake bucket turned into a bar of "fake silver"
Thank you for the information.
Good morning spegTacular

Where can I get a Widow maker! lol jk but I may make one similar! thanks Speg!
Hi SPEG, Really glad I have come across your channel, I have watched a few of your video's and have already learnt quite a bit from you, as you maybe can tell I'm new to this silver stacking, I really love the Morgan Doller, I now only have 3 and another 2 on the way, Here in the UK they are not really abundant and quite hard to get hold of without paying the high prices over my side of the pond compared with you guy's. Keep up the good work and looking forward to the next video you put out.
Thanks Mark!
excellent vid for educational purposes Speg! Lots of good information for whatever level of testing we as consumers can do! I am looking for a sigma metalytics but so far have not been able to get one. Happily I have (so far) never gotten a fake...but I have very few high premium bullion coins in my stack, mostly 90% constitutional. Again THANKS for a very good vid!! Happy Easter amigo!!
I think liberties and silver eagles look great but I prefer brittianas even though I'm only 13 but I have been saving up to buy one for insulator purposes.
I too prefer the older version of the Libertad.
