    Get ready for conferences to disappear. There will be some type of association with B10, SEC and potentially selected members of the ACC, B12 and possibly some other G5 schools the association deems worthy. ND will have no option but to join or immediately become irrelevant. A commissioner will oversee rules, regulations and scheduling. Schools will probably be allowed X number of protected rivalries then we will see a national schedule for everyone. I would enjoy seeing Alabama travel to B10 country every year and vice versa. Ohio State, as an example, has Texas, Alabama and Georgia scheduled. Texas just went up to Ann Arbor. Who wouldn’t want to see these games? West coast schools are doing a trial run in the B10 which will be worked out by the time the association starts. The money is way too big now to keep college football regional.

    Yeah no. Click bait. These conferences will NEVER merge. They may work in concert for their independent interests. That’s it

    The meeting is about a scheduling agreement like many conferences already do in basketball with the ACC/Big 10 challenge. SEC/Big 12 challenge, etc... People are getting bulled up over nothing. Also, any scheduling agreement is DOA from the B10 unless SEC goes to 9 conference games, which the B10 already has. Actually, given the ridiculous size of the conferences 10 league games would make sense, but they won't do it. With 16 and 18 teams respectively the conf champ game comes from the top 2 in standings which can be heavily influenced by whom you don't have to play in a particular year. Some teams will play 5 or 6 ranked teams in conference and some can skirt by with 2 or 3 and thus have a much better chance to get in the conf champ game.

    As someone who loves SEC and B1G football. I been for years asking for a week mid season where we can have SEC vs B1G squaring off. Imagine the money and viewership that would create!

      I would only agree with that if sec #1 play big10 #1 and not like sec #1 play big 10 #10 vice versa

    Hope there isn't a merger but it's where the money is. My preference is pulling in teams from the ACC to B1G and just staying the B1G, doing our own thing. I don't think most B1G fans give two cents about what is happening in the SEC, idk. I'd generally say no merger will happen b/c AAU, but money talks...

      I think it is inevitable that SEC and Big Ten become AFC and NFC of college football. Forget the mixing it up like now. Forget league champions in the old sense just have a playoff with top 6 teams each with 2 byes. Winner is conference champions. They can even be bowl games if you want on neutral sites. Rose bowl gets Big Ten Championship game and auger Bowl get SEC. We don’t care about that. But there will then be a single National Championship. Let it alternate between sec and big ten region domed stadiums.

    As I have said here many time. I 100 % agree with you. There is no way an expanded BigTen and SEC do not become the college football super league. College basketball ball wet that way when NCAA took over national championship. Why can Big10 and SEC be the AFC and NFC of college football. But only for football.

    The merger will happen and will be a big (long term) death knell for collegiate sports. NIL was the first step. Everyone is running towards the light not understanding it’s a nuclear explosion. Looks and feels good…until it’s too late to go back.

    Can you cover the WSJ article about the creation of a college football super league?

  • @purplesprigs
    @purplesprigs หลายเดือนก่อน

    Please - let it happen. The BIG and SEC can form a super league, and the rest can form tier 2. Do you really think that Ohio will ever compete with Ohio State? No. Nor should they compete at the same level of college football. This would be much better for the fans.

    I disagree with the notion the Commissioners of the super conferences are the two most powers in CFB. Money talks and pays for 90% of the bill in funding CFB. If the Networks & ESPN decided to turn their backs on CFB, what you you have left? Radio & attending the games to provide the money. That would be pennies on the dollar. Further, if the University Presidents decided to shut down or tonedown their football programs, which they do have the power to do so with the support of the BODs, that would eliminate CFB altogether. The commissioners in line of importance follow the coatails of these two entities.

    The brand of a super conference will wipe out 80% of the fans from the rest of the schools in the nation. Nobody outside of the SEC and Big 10 wants them to have a super conference and will let their sponsors know about it with some severe retaliation of not buying from them anymore. But, if they want a Bud Light experience, those outside the SEC and Big 10 know how to show them the door.

    • @af6456
      @af6456 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe not 80% but I agree with your point. More importantly, it's not that hard to phantom, why would I care about a party I'm not invited to. This is not pro sports. If you attend a school that's not part of this, why would you celebrate and support this?

    It's sad that the 'gods of mammon ' i.e., TV execs) have so thoroughly undermined the spirit of amateur athletics, and I for one think it sucks. I recall the joy of being a kid, putting on school colors and running onto the gridiron for the weekly Saturday GAMES every autumn.
    The only pay we received was the thrill of victory, and some 'campus notoriety' for a day, and maybe a free college education. No monster car, no Maserati, no gold chains (but maybe an adoring cheerleader holding our hand). AND IT WAS FUN...AND THAT WAS THE POINT.
    Why can't we leave the kids alone, and enjoying their youth? The inevitable burdens of adulthood, including chasing the almighty dollar, will be thrust upon them soon enough, trust me.
    Sure, as a B1G fan, it's fun to be on the inside track as these tectonic shifts occur, and I hope that Tony Petiti gets our fair share to the pot of gold, even if it heralds the end of college football.

      It’s a business. It’s not the college football we grew up with. Hasn’t been for some time. The players filed numerous lawsuits and began winning them. That’s why they have to get paid, and freely transfer, and can make money on their name and image. The NCAA has lost lawsuits and is not the driving force of things - weaker. All that is driving conference realignment as the schools need to get the best media deals they can in order to pay the players and pay the bills. The bigger schools and power teams will be competing at a different level because of that. They and those conferences are dominating the sport and changes because of that. There’s no going back.

      Agreed, they are already having all the NIL and transfer portal bullshit coming too fast, the NCAA didn't plan or think before they brought in all this shit!!! It's ridiculous and if they don't watch, sending my favorite sport college football down the river in my opinion!!! WE ARE

    Not all the best teams are in those 2 conference ‘s are all the best teams from top to bottom! Now I agree that they have the power and whatever but if they are so good why do they want so many of there teams in ? It’s just a question I am a college football junkie that would be like the nfl saying that these divisions are getting half of the teams n the the playoffs and that would really go over ! If anything that is what is the problem they are two people with to much power I think we should just go to a 70-80 team league divided into divisions and follow the nfl playoff blueprint and have a comity to oversee the leuge rules and that way they are rules across the board and the reff,s would be held to the same standard and consequences across the board for breaking rules we are going into revenue sharing any way but I don’t think the 2bigheads would not like that the reason they are budding up is because of they are power hungry! I Love all CFB but they don’t care about the students or the fans and they are more sports other than football and I know where the money comes from but I want them to go to each of the athletes look them in the face and say you don’t matter. Anymore because you ain’t as important and all the work and sacrifice you put in it’s ok but ain’t worth a college scholarship! Now I know that you are whoeverreads this thinks I am whining but no I played three sports through high school and I didn’t have a division 1 offer but sports helped me to stay out of trouble made me learn a lot about how good it is to have a team and that has helped me through life but seriously I know what brings in the money but without some of those other sports and the dreams of those kids getting a education and those sports bringing them a sense of confidence and a team environment that is like a family a lot of the time that may be all they have to look forward to and no they all ain’t going to make it but if there is not something to push you to achieve then our kids Armand the generations after are just going to be worse and worse off sports teaches discipline teamwork accountability and how to come together from different backgrounds and have fun and push yourself to be better because you want your team to be better !!!
    I know I went on a rant but seriously someone needs to make these power hungry people understand that they are not the best thing since slice bread it’s way bigger than any conference or 2 there is alot of student athletes that is going to be affected by whatever they do but they don’t have anything but how they can fatten their pockets especially since they are going to have to pay their athletes revenue shares plus nil so they are trying to make sure that they can get as much as they can so they don’t have to give up their personal pay
    Again I am just venting and I love your channel on TH-cam have watched it since middle of last season! You do a amazing job and I appreciate and enjoy it this is in no way towards you sir and I hope you have a blessed one
