wow you have kept your original box of super mario land in such pristine condition. Props for that.
Ive been using an 'Anbernic' retro andriod system. Its got the 16:9 ratio and metal casing with dual analog and d-pad. These devices are such a great way to kick it old school, and new school!

Great you are part of the Pocket club. I recently finished Dragon Warrior 3 for the GBC on the Pocket! Great experience. I have to admit I was pretty pleased to get done with it. I think I'm definitely more of a Final Fantasy fan..
May I suggest Cave Noire - with a patched english translation for the Game Boy on your nice new Pocket.

Congrats on your new Analogue Pocket. It is such an amazing device! I have a black one like you complete with what looks like the same case, although I did get the official clear case which is pretty much useless for actually carrying it around. I also have the dock. I am 50 so my eyes are not as good as they used to be. I had some old GB, GBC and GBA games I had been meaning to play but the small screen on my GBA system makes it difficult to enjoy these games especially being spoiled with screens like the Switch OLED. With the Pocket, not only is the screen bigger, original black and white GB games really pop on that screen. I also like the fact I can hook up a wireless controller to the dock and play the games on my TV. For me, the system is worth it for that feature alone.
You have some great games to start with. I also have to recommend all the Super Mario Advance games as well as all the Donkey Kong Country games for the GBA as well as all of the Donkey Kong Land games for the GB. With all the issues with modern gaming taking the fun out of gaming, new retro systems like the Analogue Pocket not only allow us old timers to relive our classic games better than before but it is a great way to introduce new gamers to these amazingly fun games. I also picked up the Sega Game Gear adapter for the Pocket. I highly recommend it. With it I discovered a whole new world of Sega Game Gear games I never played before with standouts like the Game Gear Sonic games and the GG Shinobi games. What is ironic is that the Game Gear games look better now on the Analogue Pocket than they ever did on the original Sega Game Gear system.
As I mentioned in an earlier video, my 3 main gaming consoles right now are the Analogue Pocket, the Switch OLED and the Steam Deck. At times adulting can be tough but being able to enjoy these amazing offerings in the video game space when I have some down time from work is something I definitely am not taking for granted.
BTW, with the fantastic job Analogue did with the Analogue Pocket I really hope they put some serious thought into putting that beautiful screen in a landscape form factor and give us an "Analogue Nomad" that could play Sega Genesis, Sega Mega Drive, Sega Master System and Sega 32X games on the go and docked. I know a system like that would just print money especially seeing all the amazing indie games going for the Sega Genesis as well as all the amazing games already available on all those systems. Old is gold because the way forward is backwards :)

I have an original Gameboy and a Teal Gameboy color, but I've had my eyes on the Analog since it launched. I know resell prices are crazy but I don't see why they don't just get one off of the official website. Mine was only $220, and it seems like the black one has always been in stock every time I look.

The custom core is the real selling point here, you don't even need physical cartridges after you put fpga cores for all these other devices and just have all your roms on your SD card. The dock makes it even better, especially for streamers and content creators trying to capture footage.

@@ClaytonMorris That's awesome. I personally suggest ordering the parts from Mister Addons, or getting one of their full builds using their aluminum case. Their products and service are fantastic and I highly recommend them based on my own experience. If you don't plan on having the Mister connected to the internet 24/7, I suggest including the Real Time Clock module as well, for the few games that require to keep track of date and time to work correctly.
I just somewhat recently got into the Mister system myself, and I'm now developing audio filter presets for the various home console and handheld cores in my free time, so that these cores can have identical sounding audio playback compared to their original console counterparts, including recreating their nostalgic tonal qualities to a highly accurate degree, which will be of great value especially to users who grew up playing the original systems. I'm currently specifically developing the audio filter presets for the N64 & PS1 cores, aiming to have them released sometime later this summer. I'll hope you check them out in the future.

@@ClaytonMorris a while back I assembled me a MiSTer “MultiSystem” by Heber/The Retro Group... which basically “consolizes” the DE-10 nano by mating it to a separate PCB inside a 3D-printed shell..
It looks really nice in my TV-stand and adds some quality-of-life options a traditional MiSTer stack wouldn’t.. like having all the power/video/audio/USB/Ethernet ports on the back of the device
..four USB/controller ports, an additional USB port for a USB stick, a microSD slot, an analogue input for cassette tape decks (used by some older gaming/classic computers), a power switch/reset button, as well as user/menu buttons and a SNAC port which allows you to add a various amounts of original console inputs/controller ports (like say a game boy link cable, or an original SNES controller port) via their respective SNAC adapters..all on the front of the console..
It comes with 128MB of SDRAM and also includes multiple internal storage options (microSD and USB as mentioned above..as well as the option to mount an internal 2.5” SSD/HDD via USB), multiple video options (HDMI, SCART, VGA, analogue) and a couple audio options (3.5mm, digital optical out)..which is nice if you have a CRT monitor..
From what I remember, it was a bit pricey..but considering all it has, it was def worth it.

@@ClaytonMorrisalso I remember seeing on a couple Redacted episodes that you had an Analogue NT Mini noir in the studio..it was a while back but I thought it was pretty cool that you even knew about those lol..
I have two of them myself (one noir and one silver), as well as their special edition “Ghostly” Super NT, the regular US Mega SG and two of their Duo consoles (the TurboGrafx-16 equivalent, in both color variants)..I really do like their products a lot, tho I’m not really a fan of their business model anymore..
It’s cool to see these devices actually used by good people such as yourself, and not just the scalpers looking to make a quick buck on eBay or whatever. 🤝

I don't think it is. It's giving you the functionality of a fully modded GBA and a flashcart with the added benefits of stereo speakers, sleep mode for real cartridges, the ability to play several non nintendo systems natively and a screen that even the best IPS kits can't touch. There's nothing on the market that could touch this thing in terms of price to performance. A fully modded GBA + a flash cart would easily run more than the price of a Pocket unless you sourced and built everything yourself for cheap.

If you're a collector and you like the ritual of swapping the cart and all that, I get that, then the AP is OK I guess. It's pretty expensive, though. I got rid of all my games ages ago so all my retro handheld gaming is done via Retroid Pocket 3 and the 512GB micro SD card it has inside. One thing about the AP that doesn't make much sense: it's the other retro portables that benefit the most, not the Game Boy range. Playing the Lynx and Game Gear today is an awful experience - so why do those adaptors need to be purchased separately?
As for the games you mentioned, Dragon Warrior 1 and 2 have the same problems as the early Final Fantasy games. Too difficult, too much grinding to level up, simple story, bland characters and dialogue. Both series took a while to get going. Skip them and go with Dragon Warrior 3 or Lufia the Legend Returns. Golden Sun is nice on the senses, with beautiful, rendered graphics and music. But it's extremely text heavy. Lots of talking.
    Metroid Fusion is awesome.

  • @adrian_veidt
    @adrian_veidt 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Waaay too overpriced for it's very limited capabilities. Specially compared to more capable and versatile devices like the AYN odin 2, Steamdeck, retroid pocket and Anbernic devices. All can stream AAA games and emulate wider array of consoles. With better and comfortable form factor.
I don't give a flying fucc about the screen. Not with those dimensions. Plus retro crisis already provided amazing crt and dmg shaders fot retroarch.

I remember 46...24 years ago. Age is just a number, Clayton. Both of you look fabulous. Carry on with .the great work you're both doing.
