The wit and lighting speed of Robin Williams is intense. Here you had old school and new school. Carson had amazing timing with a come back. Didn't matter who it was, Johnny could shatter anyone's funny bone.

Decades ago, I visited my sister at her NYS college. She and her friends took me to a bar (it was legal for under 21-year-olds, back then), which started as most college town bars do: loud, recorded, now-classic, rock-and-roll, music and lots of people yelling trying to be heard! Then, the lone TV in the bar aired a Dick Cavett special with lone guest, Robin Williams. Slowly, the bar quieted down, until the only thing that could be heard was the TV! I've never heard such silence at a crowded bar before or since! Cavett could not keep up with Williams (Johnny, on the other hand, kept near-perfect pace with Williams!). I'm sure it's on TH-cam or somewhere else, online!
