    Just getting started on my K40 and I find these videos are extremely helpful. Just a quick note for others that may be trying out the Boxmaker; I found that for my machine, the pieces wouldn't fit until I got the kerf size to around 0.20. (3mm ply, air assist on, 18mm ZnSe lens, 8 mm/sec@10 ma)

      Thanks for the kind comments and 0.20 kerf is correct too...

    hello, I dont understand why it is not working for me. I putted the same parameters as n your video and when I click apply I get this error msg:
    File "boxmaker.py", line 32
    def side((rx,ry),(sox,soy),(eox,eoy),tabVec,length,(dirx,diry),isTab):

    • @DrZipZwan
      @DrZipZwan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sansonetime as said this extension required an older version of Inkscape.
      At the end, I gave up on it, cause to buggy, and instead used CorelDRAW. It is not that complicate 😉

    thanks for the awesome video... couple questions... i wouldlike to make a box where i can place a hinge on the top to open and close, so that one edge would not have tabs... also.. do u have videos on more elaborate boxes like one with arched legs and so on.. thanks Nick

    • @DIY3DTECHcom
      @DIY3DTECHcom  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the tutorials I try to keep them pretty basic to share the idea and people can build upon them (as the more complicated ones get very few views). However yes you could use the box generator and then modify the results as I do that all of the time. :-)

    Interesting. I'm now about to search for a CorelDraw extension. The alternate Tabs as the name implies has an indented tab on one side and an outdented tab on the other. The standard tabs are indented on both sides.

    When I use this extension, the tabs are wider than the slots, and that seems to be the case in your video also. This was true for the parts I cut on the CNC, too. Have you experienced this?

    • @DIY3DTECHcom
      @DIY3DTECHcom  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you adjust for the kerf in the plugin? for laser I add at least 0.2mm to 0.3 for a loser fit...

    • @Magick50
      @Magick50 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have been experimenting with it and I am getting a feel for the parameters. I am beginning to get an idea of how the variables work together. I am cutting with a router not a laser so it gets trickier

      @@DIY3DTECHcom i have made some tests and it seems like "Kerf" and "joint clearance" need to be at 0.1 cm if you work in this unit. (I was working with a 0,3 cm thickness material)
