- This week on 'Has It Aged Well?', Abbas and Urjita are joined by filmmaker and writer Hardik Mehta (of 'Kamyaab' and 'Roohi' fame). We're celebrating Big B's 80th birthday by discussing one of his cult classics, 1978's 'Don'. The three of them discuss what made 70's potboiler cinema so memorable, how producer Nariman Irani's financial woes gave birth to this film, why the henchmen and cops of that era were so impactful, the 'Don' easter egg Hardik included in his film 'Kamyaab', what the Farhan Akhtar remake got right and much more.

Haven’t watched Don movie but loved the episode for Hardik’s passion, enthusiasm and knowledge about the movie.

1-IFTIKHAR role suppose to do by RAJENDRA KUMAR, after narrating him he ask that at the end of the film ‘AMITABH give SRANDHANJALI to statue of DSP’. Chandra barot & Salim-Javed wasn’t agree with idea.
2-when DSP show the real DON footage through projector to VIJAY; in that still footage shoot in LONDON while AMITABH went for honeymoon & AMITABH wearing own cloth.
3- ‘khaike paan banaras wala’ was composed by BABLA. kalyanji Anandji’s brother.
4- CHANDRA BAROT mounted a film with DILIP KUMAR, remake of ‘my fair lady’. But didn’t reach to shooting floor.
For me the new Don showed up as recommendation . Man man man!! Loved Khamiyaab , didn't like ruhi!
Wish Amitabh Bachchan had done more negative roles. He was great as Don! Totally overshadowed Vijay.

Superb superb episode but again reiterating my comments on other HIAW videos, that’s it’s solely because of the guest. What a great guy Hardik is. So much trivia, so much reverence for the Hindi film industry, so much respect for actors and technicians. I duff my hat to you. And nothing against Urjita, but she shouldn’t be in episodes where you are reviewing such iconic old movies. I mean, I’m sure there are tons of cinephiles out there who would have a much meatier discussion than what she brings. I mean just mute the podcast and only hear her parts and you’ll know what I’m saying. Absolutely zero contributions.

The whole point of has it aged well is that, does it still resonate with a generation that may not have grown up watching it. Nostalgia can make you biased.
