- Our pick this month is director Hardik Mehta. Hardik started his movie journey as an assistant and script supervisor on films like Lootera and Queen. He went on to co-write Trapped for Vikramaditya Motwane. In 2015, he made Amdavad Ma Famous, a documentary which captured the kite flying festival through the eyes of an 11-year old, kite-crazy boy. It won him the National Award for best non-feature film. He's now directing Rooh-Afza starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead.

I know many didnt like the climax of Kaamyaab, but those last 50 seconds when that superstar actor comes and the curtains are closed is the one of the most amazing and gripping scenes i have seen, gave me goosebumps.

I knew Hardik during his Dairy Technology days and even remember giving him a lift to the Anand railway station when he told me that he wanted to be involved in making movies. My question to him on hearing this was then what he was doing in Anand and his reply was that his parents wanted him to do a good degree.
Just a few weeks ago when I watched Roohi and read Hardik Mehta on the credits for directing, a voice in my head said, is this the Hardik I knew? I didn't check then but after finishing watching Decoupled, I checked the internet and stumbled across this interview after checking his pictures to confirm that this is the Hardik who I had known as a student under my tutelage.
Hope to see great things from this smart young man.
