    Colombia seems annoyingly peaceful and calm ;however, Brazil seems like full of adventure and mystery. I must admit that Brazilian songs and music are far better than I expected, even club music is really good there.

      Thats something particular about Salvador and Rio. Most other states have a completely different vibe. Specially the southern ones. The states in brazil are so different that you would wonder if you are in the same country as you visit other states. That was my impression back in 2018. I thought Salvador was more relaxed and fun, people were more humble, in Rio I felt like too upscale unless you ventured into the favelas. São Paulo was a mess, I felt like I was in NYC, with a touch of European and and South American vibe, more intense than NYC, no comparison. Santa Catarina felt like a completely different country, I don’t know if you’d consider it boring, but it was so safe and calm, with a very strong European influence everywhere you go. I definitely plan to explore more states and cities next time I visit Brazil, it’s a unique country.

    As the first capital of Brazil, from 1549 to 1763, Salvador de Bahia witnessed the blending of European, African and Amerindian cultures.

    SALVADOR DE BAHIA is the city with the largest Afro-descendant population in all of Latin America.

    • @saintpinewood562
      @saintpinewood562 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No it's not. In Salvador that are considerably more afro-descendant people, but most of the city population are of mixed race actually, like mostly mulattos and pardos. And in Latin America that are much more places with larger and more noticeable afrodescendant presence like in the Cacaribbean.

    • @anderas
      @anderas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@saintpinewood562 "Afro-descendant people" Some look more like african, others more mixed race and other more like europeans.

      WARNING TO BRAZILIANS AND LATINOS
      Do not listen to these black Americans they hate themselves and are trying to usurp your identity they want to use the label black so that they can be someone else. For example if they see a Colombian that is of Afro descent they will try to do the same they will try to claim that Colombian as one of them so that they can say ohh look at him we are the same therefore I am Colombian too!! Do not entertain these people you are not aware of who they really are and how they really think!!!

    The music is cha-cha, it may have a different name in Portuguese, but you had it right the first time (the name of the song is Oye Como Va). Man, Brazilians love they reggae. I think this is the first video from this trip where you found Brazilians who speak English.

    • @slyslife

      That's what I thought and there aren't many English speakers here - even in the tourist zones.

    I have spent a few nights in Salvador, always in transit to the island of Tinhare to stay in the tiny village of Morro de Sao Paulo. I stayed in a ninth[?] floor pousada at the end of Praca de Se every time, awaiting the next day's two hour catamaran ferry boat out to the island. I never felt too safe in Salvador, so I did not venture out far from my pousada, day or night. I found the lower city around the ferry boats to be quite dodgy. My last time there was maybe around 2008, so "things" have changed markedly since then. Sempre saudade pra Brasil.

    Guys! Salvador de Bahia doesn’t exist. I don’t know who invented this confusion, but Salvador is the city, and Bahia is the state. The city’s name is only Salvador! In the beginning of Brazil’s history, its name was São Salvador, but now it’s Salvador. If you call like this because you want to say that you are in Salvador, located in the state of Bahia, that’s okay, but I noticed that many people call like that because they think that’s the right name…
