Duly noted. The council will be dealing with Ferrothorn promptly.

The fact that doubles is the official format while rarely ever being featured in the games/anime/manga is insane to me lmao
Because Doubles is a spinoff from actual pokemon, its like how triple battles and such dont take part outside of niche moments.
I really hope they dont really forcefully include it into the games going forward like with Indigo Disk because I’d much rather have stuff like Colosseum and XD instead of it in mainline.
@@scatt2233 I think they should throw in random double battle honestly. It's a good way to shake things up for casual players. But yeah, having the ENTIRETY of Blueberry Academy use double battles was way overkill.
@@typhoontiak6213oh definitely, it has all the right to exist and be used, ESPECIALLY for story purposes! I just wanted to explain where the discrepancy comes from.

Damn, I was about to say this
It's either one-shot or bust
@LotsOfToubleUsuallySerious Yup, its either 1shot or 7shot. i remember i had to attack Lance's Dragonite with my Lapras 7 times. come the bleep on lance, you cant two shot my lapras, but lapras can freeze your ass 10 times.
As a massive Hydreigon fan, I can confirm that an evolution level as high as that is complete BS.
At least it is my favourite number.
As a fellow Hydreigon fan, you have to earn the right to use the GOAT.
As the #1 Hydreigon fan, they simply had to add some sort of drawback to the perfect being
It was supposed to be a reference to 1964, the year where the movie "Ghidorah, the Three Headed Monster" came out, since Hydreigon is based on King Ghidorah.
showa ghidorah is the goat@@MrRuePine
As another Hydreigon fan, I am conflicted on whether to agree with OP or with the first reply.
Explanation for homophobic ferrothorn:
There was joke in r/stunfisk about slowbros and exxegutors relationship and then op claimed that ferrothorn was homophobic towards them.
And we also have trans ally amoongus but its unrelated

Hopefully in the next game, ferrothorn changes and grows as a Pokémon

But it does feel good to get a mon with high ivs and a good nature
just get the 10% boost adamant nature for your sprigatito just... ignore its hidden 0 iv in attack lol

One of the things I loved about Emerald is how many double battles there were, I wish it was done more in modern games. I don't think it needs to be double battles only but how Emerald did would be great, especially you can decide and strategize whether or not you want to do a double battle of fight the trainers indiviually, I think it was cool.
yeah would be nice since double battles have gotten more rare to encounter during a playthrough, granted double battles tend to be more difficult and some people might not be aware of how some spread moves also hurt your ally and spread moves by default have their damage lowered by 25% in doubles (no joke, this was something i didn't know about for years).
but still, kinda sucks how in the main story double battle are almost non-existent...like in gen 9 the only double battles in the entire game is at the Ghost gym prior to the DLC
The fact that the pokemon coliseum games were double battles only is part of what makes them peak
It'd be nice to do that for ONE gen maybe. Wilds are singles but every trainer is a double and makes you build your campaign team around it
In base Scarlet and Violet, I think Ryme's gym has the only double battles in the game (in the DLC, every Blueberry Academy trainer battle is a double battle).
I miss fighting trainers in a Double Battle if two spotted you at once.
@rjd1922 yeah but also I miss talking to them from the side to only fight one of them
It's fun to cheat the system ok
Saying "good in doubles only" while showing plusle and minun is really funny
Hydregion evolving so high is extra funny when you realize that official VGC tournament battles are held at level 50, so every hydregion is guaranteed to be holding itself back to be allowed to participate.
The only competitive I bring into casual playthroughs are team synergies, beneficial natures, and setup moves. These games somehow become even easier when you just build a busted hyper offense team with pivoting moves
The reason Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64 is because Hydreigon is partially based on King Ghidorah (one of Godzilla’s most iconic and powerful enemies) and the first film King Ghidorah appeared in was 1964 like how Baxcalliber is obtained at level 54 since the original Godzilla film is from 1954
Wolfy abouta go Gordon Ramsey on you
The mention of Pursuit reminded me of the horrors that occurred in my Ghost Monolocke of Y.
So many dead Pokemon..... Like everything seemed to have Pursuit and use it precisely when I would try to switch like the AI just KNEW.
It doesn't involve pursuit, but this reminded me of my own nuzlocke in X. The game was trying to turn the challenge into Poison monolocke, and when I got to Victory Road, Brains & Brawn Arman and Hugo happened *shudder*
Ah, this is a lesson all ghost-type users must learn: dark is EVERYWHERE, and it's always in the worst places.
I'm doing a Ribbon Journey with my favorite Pokemon, Infernape. I was initially just going for the Contest Ribbons, only to decide I wanted to get them all. And let me tell you, earning all the Battle Frontier Ribbons when I didn't know a thing about EV Training before I started it due to being a casual player my whole life is a great feeling. It was so satisfying knowing that even though my Infernape didn't have perfect stats, or even the best nature, it could still hold its own against stronger Mons' and preserve. It's even gotten to the point where I'm participating in Musicals and the Battle Subway when I didn't even give them a second glance in the past. My point is, try something differently from your usual playthrough. You could end up being surprised with what you learn.
The closest I've gotten to "stalling" is my Forretress lead in HGSS who set up Spikes, had the bulk to do so, then exploded. Honestly had a very fun time with that Pokemon.
Yappingten over here
Team plasma would despise you
I would cry real tears if Pokemon gave us a game where you could double battle through the whole damn story! It makes things so interesting
Play the GameCube Pokemon games. Most of the battles are doubles
Ever heard of Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness?
well...those do exist, those being the gen 3 GameCube titles Pokemon Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness, every fight in it is a double battle. BUT as a trade off your options for team members is...very limited, and a lot of options are just bad plus this was prior to the physical/special split so some mons are just screwed
The Klara gooning is insane, at this point its become a lovecraftian aspect of this channels lore
Klara WHAT?!
Hydreigon having such a high level to evolve just means I get to love it as a Deino and Zwelos longer and makes the evolution feel like a great payoff. Though it is tedious as hell.
I’m a casual player. I like the story and having fun, and possibly not doing every single minor detail in game.
My main issue with Pokémon games is that almost none of the mechanics really matter in the story mode. Keep your Pokémon at the right level, attack super effectively, and congrats you win. The npcs lack all of the strategy that makes battling fun and the stats worthwhile
Colosseum's double battles and a progression not tied to gym battles made it so refreshing as a kid, and an adult. Bring back Orre!
Casual and Competitive can agree on two things, and it's that Mega Rayquaza and the sword doggo destroy absolutely everything
And then there's me with the pokemon sleep app just because I like watching the little critters nap.
rapid spin is actually pretty good now as it also boosts speed, which lets me outspeed the target next turn potentially since their stats aren't that high honestly.
I may have thought it was funny to basically use perish song against turo... it was funny
NPC trainers DO actually switch out. But it usually happens only when a stat of theirs has been lowered to -4 and if their internal AI is high enough. So it's only the later gyms, antagonists, later rival fights and the league.
Or if they can't do jack squat to you but another team member can (and only if the AI level is high enough). I had this happen during my fight with Candice.
The latest NPCs in Kitakami and Blueberry Academy actually do set up hazards, had a few of them set up Sticky Web and Stealth Rock
Honestly, would love to see a pokemon who's evolution is based on double battles. Maybe they learn from watching their ally and there could be different evolutions based on what they watch.
THIS IS COLOSSEUM ERASURE!
It is very funny to watch this with no sound and no context
I was doing a blind play when Klara set up those poison spikes....which immediately activated my Pokémon's Guts ability.😂
I’m sorry, but with Victor pointing behind Inteleon, my tired ass saw Inteleon holding a cig and that went hard for the half second before I realized it was just a finger.

Sorry, ferrothorn’s WHAT?!
Don't let me start about amoonguss' trans *allyship...
It's a long running joke from the Smogon community about Ferrothorn being homophobic towards Slowbro and Exeggutor and getting banned as a result. The same thread birthed another meme because of an unintentional and completely unrealated reply: "The way I see it, Kyogre is surrounded. What's under the ocean? That's right, more earth."
@@OnlyTASyou got it backwards, Amoongus is a trans ally
It sound like it’s similaire to the amoonguss trans meme. Meaning it’s some stupid meme that look like it as a very intressting story but no it’s base on some random fight that happend and some thing that one of the player said.
In short it’s some stupid zoomer meme that make me wonder how I can I be for the same generation.

Pokemon competitive really makes you notice misses and small changes that screw you over, while casually bad luck can just be easily gotten around.
Casual: oh I missed a playrough, oh well, just heal and do it again.
Competitive: I've missed that playrough and now I have completely lost the game due to a 5% chance.
such is the fate of every fairy type physical attacker who wants STAB
He said that npcs almost never set up hazards, but they do all the time, but usually my Pokémon are too strong and I don’t have to switch out
I hope the Legends games become more difficult adventures.
since the first time I picked up a main line pokemon game I have picked my team on looks alone, I may not stand much of a chanse against another human but I don't play against other humans so my pretty babies still kick ass and that's enough for me lol
It was nice to see one DLC of S/V being set on the academy where Double Battles are the norm. They even have the AI trainers adopting strategies!
Not to mention the large variety of neiche things like other metagames on smogon romhacks nuzlockes and soo much more. I want to dev a fangame myself and I love smogons OMs. So Im literally stealing a few to slap into my game. There is a gym where each battle has a gimmick. Permanent trick room, a hybrid double battle/rotation battle I call tag team (your mons are locked into left and right side and can't effect mons on the other side but can swap when they make their move) the return of inverse battles and more.
I ain't done with the gym and still am thinking of more gimmicks
Return to Pokemon DX where everything but wild encounters was a double battle. Even then, double or even triple battling in wild encounters would add some cool lore and interactions bwtween the different Pokemon.
i need them to make a game with primarily double battles, they're so much more interesting than singles simply because they give you so many more possible options, but i don't care much for playing against other people
Blue berry academy was preparing their students for triple/rotational battles via Double battles
Sorry, are we just gonna ignore the Remoraid Glock?
Pretty sure that’s what Remoraid was supposed to look like
The last few games I actively tried to build using the few principles of competitive play I've heard about, but it very quickly stopped being fun so I went back to building my team with whatever 'mons felt right. I think next time I'll just start out not bothering.
Ok but Smogon is definitely the cutthroat format.
I wish doubles were more common
Blueberry academies double battles were a LOT of fun
I remember I only had an Hydreigon in my Party in Pokémon Y solely for its Ability Rough skin for Story. Turns out a level 86 Hydreigon in a friendly competition with my family was a decent idea.
The intro is so true
Miraidon’s hadron engine is fun when battling friends…
As long as you aren’t on the receiving end that is.
Edit: turns out weezings ability neutralizing gas can prevent miraidon and koraidon ability’s
In Scarlet and Violet, not only do they _almost_ never switch out, they *_aren't allowed to._*
You’re so funny and your editing is amazing do you have a whole team behind this or something? Bravo
Wheres the group chat leaks of thorathorne. I'm very curious
You can fight to gym leaders more than twice!? I've been trying to rerun the champion fight forever
Full restores are the bane of existence
I remember Hau in Maile City in USUM actually switches his starter out if he has a type disadvantage.
So do the Team Rainbow Rocket leaders.
The single frame of Ultra Necrozma 💀
I wish there was a setting to make all the battles in a game double battles
Oh, there may not be much use for Pursuit for you the player, but it *definitely* is useful for that ONE trainer you didn't know carried a Pursuit mon just to make your nuzlocke that much more painful.
Yes competitive and story mode have different useful moves, but also raids. For instance psych up and simple beam.
Ah the days when I used to use recharge moves and charge up moves without weather.
Only time I've used stall in a regular playthrough was a Fur Coat Walrein in a randomizer with Toxic, Brine, Protect, and Ice Beam. During this run, I ran into a Water Absorb mon during the champion battle and after toxicing it, I somehow landed 4 protects in a row. Mind you, I was also paralyzed during all this.
When i play pokemon i spam the same move because being able to oneshot with lowkick is funny
So basically there's the Paul side and there's the Ash side
It's the fact that out of that entire meme, homophobic ferrothorn is what y'all remember, proves that exact post's point 😂 just about no one remembers the two other pokémon who came out as gay, (Slowbro n Exeggcutor! Apparently, they're dating) and very, very few ever voiced support outside of the og post, but EVERYONE (even people who have NEVER SEE THE POST BEFORE) knows that Ferrothorn is homophobic-
(I mean, yea it's a joke, but wow! Negativity is more prevalent than positivity, huh-)
Pursuit flashbacks from Gen V and Nuzlocke attempts...
Calling all non-competitive Pokémon casual is not something I can agree with.
I got scared at the Necrozma jumpscare
I like to play through the game with certain rules for myself that make it more similar to competitive (not using items in battle, turning off switching between faints,) and that makes things a lot more interesting and decently challenging. But then I also hate how meta some of the comp scene is, so it's hard to say one is better or worse than the other.
Me one-shotting a fairy type gym with a dragon type that knows poison jab
When you actually become familiar with competitive Pokemon (smogon singles to be precise), you will find how set up moves and recovery moves are very broken.
Gyarados is just a beast in every nuzlocke mode. Venusaur becomes the best gen 3 starter all because of Leftovers + Leech Seed, and heck - Meganium can easily sweep Claire without being too over-leveled with Sword Dance + Return.
I remember trying to do the reuniclus strat with trick room but I realized it really didnt matter
Trainers were either underleveled (by liks 1 or 2 levels) or had bad SPDEF so it actually didnt even matter, so much that I ended up removing that move and replacing it with recover
Yeah I find myself using the most simple set up in casual and it feels so overpowered. Like, I'm not even close to a competitive pokemon player and I don't know anything about true strategies, yet an Aegislash that boosts itself with Swords Dance and Automatize literally decimates whatever NPCs throw at it with OHKO after OHKO, specially if the first pokemon they send out doesn't have a anything to hit it Neutral or Super Effective with and you can Swords Dance more than once (and btw Aegislash has 8 resistances, 1 x4 resistance and 3 immunities)
Wait a minute did he just say the NPCs don't switch out during battle?
(Memories of a certain gym leader in black and white with two emolgas that did nothing but switch out) you sure about that buddy?
That’s a move.
I think they need to fix evoultion requirements.
If some VGC formats and battle towers require your pokemon to be level 50 then no pokemon should be evolving above that level. Looking at you Hydreigon and Braviary
As a competitive player I for some reason feel called out
I’m a Pokemon player that play throughs the game with my team but with competitive stats. With this I can play competitive with my play though team.
I've felt for a while that the standard battle format against villan teams should be doubles or even triples. Your standard everyday trainer would probably follow League rules and stick to 1v1. But the villans? They wanna cause problems. They'd send their whole team out at once if they thought they could get away with managing it.
If only pokemon could implement a vaguely competent AI and maybe make a game where you actually need to do some exploring and fight some natural battles between gyms
What did ferrothorn mean when he said "Its Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve."?
To be fair most of the time when i use Ferrothorn i used as a f****** bomb i wonder if that came from john pm7 ferroseed using metronome and then using self destruct or explosion either one of the self ko explosion moves and saying "dumb stupid seed!"
Imported cheese was 😈right
They really do need to just remake the Orre games with how much they make such a big deal about doubles in competitive and give next to no ways to experience it in the main games. That’s why I want to go back to Orre. All double battles. The strategies that I can only truly pull off in such an environment. Oh Arceus do I need to go back! Please! I’d just emulate it if I had anything that could handle a GameCube emulator!
