Hey cap here are some Mustangs hacks for you that the Luftwaffe doesn’t want you to know. 1. 2700 RPM 46 MFP is not your actual max continuous power? It’s your recommended but not actual you can go 2700 and 54 MFP no problem you’ll gain like an extra 30mph for cruising to target. You can also climb at 2500-3000fpm with this setting. I’ve done flights across from Brighton to Normandy at this setting no problem with full fuel and drop tanks. If you want to go max speed when reaching speeds of over 350mph reduce RPM to 2700 and you will gain more speed you’ll find yourself just shy of 400mph on the deck Want an easy way of know when your super charger will kick in? 41 inches of manifold is the magic number, when you are at full throttle and your manifold drops to 41 inches naturally in the climb. Hope these help
Jugs at this point in the war were mainly focused on close air support against armor. As I hear Super Cap talking about the advantages of the Mustang in this scenario, and I can’t help of thinking of baby Christian Bale in Empire of the Sun, “P-51 MUSTANG CADILLAC OF THE SKY!!!”. I always love a good Warbird mission!! Great flying as always Grim Reapers!!!
You'd think just watching the flying before the combat would be boring but there is just something about the rising tension of the imminent attack that makes this so enjoyable to watch
29:41 I know Dieppe town very well. The overall model is quite good. What could be add as an objective is the harbor railway station. And a bunch of artillery emplacements around.
I get why you want to fly the P-51….it just lacks the “character” or “pinache” of the Spit, Jug or Mossie. As was said below…it’s the F-18 of WW2; a fantastic platform good at everything
I love this channel Cap, it must take the equivalent of doing a full time job running it, how do you sleep, you’ve even got a baby for goodness sake. Thanks for what you bring us. Chris. Northamptonshire.
This is why it should be a crime that we don’t have a P 47 Campaign consisting of a lot of ground the technicians. Maybe Taking place in the weeks after D-Day. So many great targets to attack and so many cool missions you can do.
Brainstormed a bit and game up with two approaches that might work with the Mosquitoes and Spitfires. First is to pair them up, one Mosquito, one Spitfire, and go in low. If they go after the Mozzie, the escort can help clear them off. If they attack the Spit, the Mosquito pushes through. If two planes engage both, well, that’s fewer hostiles on the Mustangs. Second, embed them with the bombers and use the B-17s as ablative armor.
I think the spitfires could be used to take out the radars. Act as a nice distraction to the German fighters. And if they succeed then they will have to guess what you are hitting and won't be as effective in the intercepts. The can also stick to the airspace over old Blighty and act as defense.
No love for the Jug? You do know that the P-47 was used as a truly excellent tactical fighter-bomber with the 9th AF after the P-51 came along? No flaks guys??? Even at the airfield? Not a great place to be if you need coolant in your engine.
I was just thinking what would these planes do if a modern v16 like from a Bugatti or Lamborghini or something equivalent to the Merlin, maybe a big tractor trailer. Something with a lot of power, lightweight and tuned specifically for performance? Would the plane fare better or worse? Now I’m think about the hybrid engines that attain 2k horsepower with ease. Might be a dumb idea but I’m just spifiring here.
It's interesting that according to Eric brown, the spitfire was a better home defense fighter where the p51 was a plane to take you to Berlin and back and survive.
The official F6F Hellcat module by ED is coming soon, and according to the '2024 & Beyond' article they're also working on official Pacific Theater of Operations opponent aircraft (+ground&naval). Sounds like your wish will be granted, albeit later rather than sooner unless GR can/want to throw something together~ (afaik the flyable Zero and Hellcat mods are currently out of order and need code updates to work in DCS post-multithread update)
would be neat and probably not as hard to make as normandy. The engine maintenance side would be interesting as well with the excessive heat and dust but you get that also in the pacific. I think Pacific might be good since alot of Americans play this game but tbh I feel like even Americans prefer EU theater when it comes to ww2
hello guys, i want to buy my first ww2 plane, heavily skewed towards the spit IX, but i see some other planes in cap's lineup as well. Is this spit a good start? thnx. Btw i know the dutch 322 squadron in ww2 operating from England flew spits
Good in a lot of respects just easy to trash on the ground narrow wheel base heavy nose large prop and tail sitter watch the drag episode :) but in the air lovely plane.

Cap, at 16:50, regarding the P-51, You brits have to take some credit, it was your engine at the heart of the mustang.
Yup fair comment.
Bloody HELL Cap, y'got yer shootin' boots on in THIS one!!
This wins the comments for me!! Super Cap using the whole nine yards plus rockets was on top form in this one!!
Bing watching older videos. Such fun you guys are having. I need to get serious and join in the fun!
This is awesome. The older I get the more I appreciate just watching stuff like this. Very cool.

Loving the teamwork you guys rock!

Nice to see the US Department of (REDACTED) has not (REDACTED) Would be a shame if (REDACTED) for you.
I would love to see the continuation of this mission. Great flying everyone.
A beast of a plane, and with film star good looks too. Warbirds were real flying hot rods
I love Cap diagonal crossing of the runway
@26:30 fly in pairs cross each other tail up can pick off the following aircraft.
AKA the Thach weave.
Good to have Ello back!

Roger will pass on.
@@grimreapers I remember Cap saying in the India-Pakistan campaign that SA/Intel is key. And this is the only SA you have except for the Mk 1 eyeball

Was a beast when the MERLIN was put in it Capt!

@@Aironeness a lot of the replicas run Chev V8s. I've also seen replica Spitfires that run a Mitsubishi V6! I think they're all 3/4 scale though.
Eh, the Alison powered p51 was quite fast under 20k ft. If you're not escorting bombers at 25-30k then the 2nd stage super is kind of wasted.
It's interesting that according to Eric brown, the spitfire was a better home defense fighter where the p51 was a plane to take you to Berlin and back and survive.
I think having the spit protect your ground targets is a better use of their life. You gotta deny their attack or it's just always going to be a draw.
That or have it run interference for the Mosquitos.
Problem is those late war German planes can outrun the Spits, this makes it very hard for the spits to catch them and kill them.
@@grimreapers they can’t attack the junkers?
3 aircraft 3 bridges.. no one going home. Be a hero. Easy
P38's shot down more Japanese aircraft than all others. Same tactics as Wildcats and Corsairs, fly thru them and not dogfight.
Wonderfully well!
I would love to see how well the hellcats would fare against zeroes. I dont think there is a video for that.

Very good content, very interesting.
what spitfire going 500mph in a dive are you using ?
I was wondering, how a wave of AGM 129s would perform against an american carrier strike group...🌚
Yes!
my Logitech joystick broke so gonna have to wait till i can get a vbk one
Awesome 👌
Guys how about a Northern Africa campaign especially where Rommel is involved.

There isn;t really a wrong answer to this. All warbirds are great in game .
possibly the single best answer Cap
@@grimreapers
just started protect bombers please
and have fighters try and take out triple A
Cap pulling off the first Train pass gave me a semi! That was a sexy pass
What game do they always use?
DCS World
High is the fkn man!
if they can reach targets
Jesus, it's 'le Havre'.
Well done, boys - well done...! 😊
