    I'm a little late to the party but Interceptor f'n rules! Just listened to their whole demo on Bandcamp and really took me back. Your spot on, they definitely have that Venom and Hellhammer vibe mixed with the raw production, I felt like I was back in 1982. Just pre-ordered the 7", now I just need to pick up a turntable, I'm a CD guy. Lol! Another great vid Aaron!

      You're right on time, as far as I'm concerned! Glad you dig the record too, those guys are fantastic, and the record should ship quickly... The pre-order business on the site is a mistake. (I think they put that up when they sent the thing to the pressing plant, and just haven't gotten around to updating it. I can relate.... hahaha!)

    "Witch's Dance" is awesome, but ordering from Germany would mean shelling out 38 EUR for a 7-inch. So i did the next best thing, and got me a digital copy for 5 EUR. I'm all in when it comes to support young bands that rip shit up🤘🤘🤘

      That's a good solution, man! hahahaha.... It's really a shame, though, that shipping to Europe has gotten so expensive. It's always been bad to Australia, but I used to send a lot to Europe. These days, I feel bad asking for so much postage....

    I was REALLY hoping you were gonna challenge everyone to start a band that sounds like Venom. Yes I bought the single, they nailed it with the mid-paced songs that really carve the riffs into your skull, nice job. Lord Ryur and Sabre are about as good as it gets for 80's singles. The Sabre demo is also awesome, that's some shit that deserves reissue over 99% of everything else. I read a band member later did some heinous crimes, maybe that's keeping labels away? Glad you dug Akilla, I realized later the best comparison might be Medieval. Wyvern is indeed a cool overlooked gem of Italian metal, well-produced classy stuff. Never heard of NH3, but I've long maintained the only way to improve Puppets would be cut 'The Thing That Should Not Be' and make 'Orion' 5 minutes longer. I put Militia in the same category as Raven Bitch, if their records had been on Metal Blade (more like New Renaissance actually) they would be as fondly remembered as fellow mediocre greats like Pandemonium or Bloodcum. But hey, Oblivion Knight is actually pretty damn good!

    • @MetalTheologian
      @MetalTheologian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hahahaha! Dude, that would have been a good challenge.. but I don't know that I'd wanted to review 20 bands that all sounded like Venom, it'd probably get boring fast. Glad to hear you dug Interceptor though, those guys are first rate. I doubt the crimes would keep labels away from Sabre, but it might make it hard to track the band down to get their approval. I like The Thing That Should Not Be, hahahaha!

    I first decided to check out Chastain after I somehow found out he was a fan of/influenced by Glenn Phillips; the great Hampton Grease Band guitarist and solo artist. I figured if he had cool taste like that, I’d give him a try. I’m glad I did, cause I found some great metal in Chastain and CJSS. I think the David T. Chastain stuff is more Shrapnel-esque, but at least he separates it from the real band material. Anyway, he’s one of those “solo” artists that gets a pass from me. And at least he never tried to shoehorn Robin McAuley’s name in there anywhere. Cheers

    • @MetalTheologian
      @MetalTheologian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hahahaha! That's hilarious about good ol' Robin... I really don't know much about him, but he looks like the biggest dork ever on that MSG cover. I didn't know about the Hampton Grease Band business, so that's really interesting: Their record never really blew my mind, but it's still cool that Chastain would dig that deep.

    • @JoeTheisen-dy8zy
      @JoeTheisen-dy8zy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Man, Holocaust. When I first started cruising for metal records, I kept getting burned when I went for NWOBHM stuff. Holo's 'No Man's Land' and Saxon's 'rock the nations' weren't exactly setting the world on fire for me, y'know?

    • @MetalTheologian
      @MetalTheologian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Oh man, it's too bad that No Mans Land was your first exposure... that record is really bad, and I've tried really hard to find something to like about it! Check out The Nightcomers and the Live album, and then if you want to hear something different, check out Sound of Souls. I've never even listened to Rock the Nations all the way through, but I'm not the biggest Saxon fan.

    • @NicholasProm_PosersMustDie
      @NicholasProm_PosersMustDie 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MetalTheologian oh! No Man's land wasn't my first exposure, just the first album I got by them. I heard 'Heavy Metal Mania' and 'Death or Glory' somewhere beforehand. Snagged a 'well-loved' copy of the Nightcomers years later and loved it. a key NWOBHM release to be sure.

  • @Frank_nwobhm
    @Frank_nwobhm 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Any album by Holocaust that isn't The Nightcomers or Live: Hot Curry And Wine is simply a John Mortimer solo project. The only one I've ever heard was No Mans Land.
    Love the Manowar "Sign of The Hammer" album. For me, it pretty much marks the end of their streak of credibility. After that, I think I bought the next two albums before giving up on them. It was a great run though.

    • @MetalTheologian
      @MetalTheologian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sound of Souls is WAY better than No Man's Land, but probably sounds less NWOBHM, so if that's the sound you're after, you won't like it. Regarding Manowar.... I definitely think they dropped off after the first four albums, but I can dig the subsequent ones too. I only have the next two myself, but if I'm at my brother's house and he's playing Gods of War, I'm not exactly asking him to turn it off!

      No, it's not mispelled, it's simply the US/UK linguistic factor ( like color/colour, theater/theatre etc). I think the name Vicious Rumors is great, as good as the band. It's not typical/run of the mill.

      Nah man, Interceptor doesn't owe me anything... I'm just happy to help out a little if I can. And I'm doing right by the audience too, because it's a great record. Regarding spelling, you know, I've always spelled things pretty consistently the American way, but in the last 20 years or so, it's gotten more common to leave off the "-ue" ending for words that end with "g", so "catalog" instead of "catalogue", for instance. And I can't stand that shit. So I spell "rumor" with no "u", but "dialogue" with the French ending........
