Hermann is such an awesome guy. Great job from the Team at PRP and Xtreme GT-R!!! Also, Andrew keep up the awesome content. I pray 🙏🏾 everything goes up from here for EVERYONE! GREAT JOB GT-R AUSSIE BROTHERS 🤟🏾
If tyres are not lasting due to the advancements in aero, speed, braking etc. of open class, tyre regulations need to develop with it or ultimatly the class will stagnate.
You realise that Pro Cars were running on A050s previously with MORE aero, power etc? It's about finding the limits and driving within and taking the calculated risks. We have yet to see multiple failures across different platforms that we saw in Pro which triggered the tyre change. Engineer around the limitations, don't just demand changes to the rules in the class that still is most representative of what WTAC/TA is about ...
They couldn’t do a lap in the end. Production cars are having the same problem at high speed tracks. I ran one a bit low and it threw the tread off at 230 at eastern creek. They just aren’t getting the joint with the tread well enough.
So Incredible! plus one vote for pro class... may not match the 968 straight up, but with slicks and pro-class aero and weight, It'd probably be shooting for 1:20s or below and going blow for blow against Tanuki. Still amazing to think it's capable of high 23s in Open class.
Michelle was nice enough to talk me through some of the changes to the car and it all sounded very promising. It still does. Ultimately it’s about generating lateral grip. We do this by using downforce through aero setup but, we’re still fighting the mass of the car. (F = ma or a = F/m). The higher the mass, the more force we need to get in round the corner. If we can drop some weight (mass) we reduce the force on the tyres and maintain lateral acceleration (a). How much mass though? 200-300kg?? Not sure what’s possible? Huge props to PRP and Kelford for backing this passion project. One of my favourite cars at WTAC!
Great video and great to get some insight as to the goings on of their weekend. This car is so exciting to watch. Can always count on Slade to be on the limit. Looking forward to seeing where it goes next (pro class, please!)
I watched JET200 run live here in Malaysia and congrats on 5th place. Even though it wasn't a 129 or better, it's OK as there wasn't many track days, so I think that's a great achievement, and now you have a year to get it dialed.
Each failure is a step for success. Good that the driver is safe and can push harder next time: from the proper rim profile, the pressure or other tests. Keep going team!
Looks like you guys need aero that flexes during high speed to keep strain off the tires and still have downforce for the mid and low speed corners. You can’t have active aero in the rule book but I’m sure you can “bend” those rules a bit. Unless the control tire changes to a different semi slick that can handle the downforce the car is making.
LOL There’s no such thing as downforce in low speed corners. That aero only works when the air moving over it is moving fast enough to push down on the car.
@@flamintasty Yes but it still makes the car more stable at low speed seen it in practice car was tail happy without wing compared to with wing. Maybe my idea of low speed is more like mid speed.
I backed the winner of the open class, that insane S15 driven by Rob Nyugen. That S15 is sick but the name "Extreme GTR" suits it as that GTR is next level. Good show that team puts on. As much as Im a SR20/S-Chassis guy, full respect to this R32. Its just fucking nuts.
Those A50'd have been well beyond their limits for a couple of year now. They need to use something stronger for the better tiers as this has cost a few teams over the last couple of years a good lap. We seen this a few years ago on the insight S2000 ourselves. Great tyre none the less for what they have done over time, but the level of car is now exceeding the tyre and it's becoming unsafe.
I was gutted for them. On the plus side, the class is extremely close and more competitive than ever which is only a good thing for the event and even better as a spectator.
The obvious one everyone will know already is the weight/mass of the car. What's the front to rear bias? Can you move the gearbox rearwards to shift the centre of mass away from the front of the car? There are minimum weights for each class, you're probably on that already. You can't move the engine rewards by more than a given amount, you're probably there already. Active aero is out. Tyres are restricted. Suspension geometry - probably nothing significant to be had there. Then the biggest potential may be where the mass is in the car? Move the engine to the left a bit? will cost elsewhere on the track but if the tyre holds on then the penalty on the right hand corners may be outweighed by the gains on the left handers and the potential extended tyre life?
I was just thinking about the tyres , and the large centrivical forces acting on the tyre tread, would shaving some rubber off the tread face reduce the amount of pull on the tyre carcus? It may make the tyre live long enough for that fast lap.
Real race cars run slicks😉. Tuff break but if you're popping rubber now. Unless Yoko produce an updated tyre construction. I'd find it unlikely you could go any faster as it is.
For a sponsored event could Yokohama not look into further development on these tyres with this feedback? Possibly different compounds ect. I understand the car is out driving the tyre but surely improvements can be made
Poxy tyres, nowhere near up to the level that’s required these days. Sure, on a 400hp Evo they’re fine. Not so much on a 1400hp GTR with a big aero package though.
That engine… the sound it makes….
EARGASM. Fuck me it’s insane!
No better sound hey than an RB at 9000rpm 🤤
This is what a GTR was built for...
Nice video guys 👍 Go pro class 🤙 such a good event.
You boys wish it had a 2K Barra.....
thats cool to see a gtr doing what it was first known for. and not just drag racing.
LOL the sticker @10:48
Haha, well spotted! 😂

Time to do away with the A050
The tread on an A050 is held on with the best intentions.
You realise that Pro Cars were running on A050s previously with MORE aero, power etc?

What an absolute weapon. My heart sank as soon as that tyre gave out.
Motive Video, cool video keep up the amazing work
Well it obviously needs a set of Bridgestone Eagers with the white writing facing outwards doesn't it.
They would probably last 10 laps! too bad they don't make em anymore due to such great durability.
There's not much GTR left. It's more shop creation than Nissan anymore, some badges. It's a absolute work of art.

Amazing work folks. Met you guys on the weekend, absolute pleasure🙏 ! This thing sounded like a banshee. Keep up the dope content.
This project is incredible!! Every detail sorted to the level of a factory backed team looks like! Tough luck with the tires
Great and insightful video! Race on Sunday, sell on Monday mentality is what’s pushing this platform, car and drivetrain, to new heights.
Great video guys! I wasn't sure what had happened on the day!
Devastated on the delam as that was going to be a ripper lap. But can’t wait to see what next year brings
Total game changer. Other competitors will simply lose sleep.
brutal, watched it live those shootout laps were crazy thought EGTR was gunna up them all and bang. brutal. see yas next year!

It’ll be sick to see Advan bring out a new version of the a050 that could handle a touch more load 👌 1:23 in Open class would be metal to see.
Fricking weapon gtr more like 🔥🔥
We need this support for our time attack car

Very curious about the variable cam system.
It's the RB25 NEO system adapted and modified as far as I understand

Very interesting that the tyre blew before the dip. I thought it was the load of the dip that caused it.

Those Yokohama semi-slicks are not a great tyre full stop. Puts you in a tricky position for next year. God speed regardless.
What would you recommend?
They are probably the best semi slick money can buy, but okay...
The price is the best semi slick on the market. Fast for 2 laps then same as the competitors until the throw the tread off.
What an amazing woman and team
should be allowed to run again if a tyre fails
Nothing will beat the rp
Michelin pilot sport cup 2 R tires.
🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️😎
Herman has no idea
Back off a tad on T1 as you know you were already up, but that is a hard call.
That dude looks like a skinny Joe Rogan
heartbreaking =(
I want to buy a time attack car from Australia and ship it to America to drive on the road at the Dragon and in Colorado straight away. The. Daily it
Sure, kid. Just finish school first and then get a good job 👍
