Develop a healthy relationship with life and ideas: The key is in planning here, imo. Keeping a strict schedule. But, it's really hard and I often get lost in ideas, neglect to eat and all that jazz. It's a part of our wiring as idea people I guess. What I do, is meditating and playing a musical instrument (piano), that really grounds me. Also, cooking can be a grounding experience as well. Although I mostly just eat two salads a day and go on walks and stay in shape that way.

I am loving watching you dealing with life and mind. It's like watching the sun break through trees by the sidewalk in a busy city. (I dunno, it is what it is) It's such a beautiful journey at this stage of life. Not one of those processes that you need to complete before you see the good things in it. You see it as you go forward, and it's the best thing ever.

I've gone through it maybe a year or 2 ago. I used to be addicted to knowledge and books, spending most of my time reading while my friends are out there living their lives to the point where I became more and more introverted, when I meet them I feel like an alien lol immersed in my own world of fiction wether books or movies/series and what's ironic is how I can't even discuss these things with anyone because we don't have the same interests. Until I woke up with a slap to the face.. I started to do other things, I see reading as a normal hobby now I'm not obsessed as before because any form of addiction is unhealthy. I do many fun things now even cooking or walking outside breathing fresh air can be fun.
Sometimes I feel like I should be a clearer version of myself and some books just shape me up in the authors' ways. What if we lived our lives without complexity and did things according to our intuition? Trial, error and learning lessons.

Remember to visit "the forest" often lest you lose the path. Also, don't be afraid to travel so far that you come full circle. Standing where you've been after a long journey helps you appreciate the past experiences with a deeper understanding, and you'll pick up novel things the second & third times around. There are concatenated interests and phases through my life that I've been going on through overlapping cycles, and my anxieties about such things have been dwindling and are being replaced with a sly grin and excitement; I am becoming more and more keen on understanding and experiencing and expressing things the further I explore the contents of the cosmos and my mind.
Having stumbled across your channel gives me a renewed appetite for more formal intellectual pursuits after two years of work, "living", and anarchistic intuition regarding worldviews, philosophies, and schools of aesthetics.
I am glad to have found your videos- you are very insightful, and your content will enrich my mindset in the coming months. Hope you don't mind this meandering comment too much 😂
    Cheers!

Hi Robin. 1st year uni student, growing up, what do I like, where am I going, what is Life all about, and How do I get there ? When I crossed the bridge from being a wayward boy, into manhood, I was 34 years old. I had a few tragedies in my life prior, and I survived them. When I got sober a second time, at 34, life opened up to me, in ways I had not imagined. 53 now. and Life has surely thrown curve balls at us, for sure. Hang in there. Life is all about exploration. Take your time, stop and smell the roses, and don't obsess over little things, because it is always the "little things" that trip us up, like the broken shoe lace. Yes, I watched the video to the end too.

Nowadays I’m enjoying graphic novels the most and just people watching in the streets. I love how you’re so curious about the overlaps between these philosophical ideas and the everyday. I am super glad to witness your realisations, feels like I’m growing as a reader/person right alongside you haha thanks so much for sharing this weird phase with us and being so upfront about it!! Your first 'direction' is basically what make me realise in 1st year at uni that I wouldn't want to do a PhD / be an English academic. One of the most fascinating ironies for me are lit professors who can comment beautifully on how poetry conveys love, human relationships and other emotional sundries, and yet are completely hopeless in their personal lives.
Your second 'direction' is my honest self speaking out. There's always a little piece in me that feels as if 'forcing' myself to read, say, David Foster Wallace / Djuna Barnes is more out of a 'medal-collecting' mindset, than of any genuine interest in their works. This chasm between 'what I want to read' and 'what I 'ought to' be reading' is certainly interesting. For instance, I love John Updike, but there was a point when I literally felt like something was 'wrong' with me for enjoying WASP-y lit more than de Beauvoir / Audre Lorde. As if being a female reader somehow means I have this unspoken moral obligation to love 'feminist lit' (much of which I do, especially re Woolf and Plath - just not all).
    :)

I myself have been down the same path of neglecting my health in terms of pursuing ideas and neglecting the mundane life to put ideas and intellectual pursuits on a pedestal but I think I also want to try looking beyond that and trying to enjoy and amass experiences in life. On that note, I also started a daily log recently that is based on the idea of giving importance to moments in my life that I would generally disregard and forget.

I almost went back into my monotonous and almost suffocating lifestyle. And in a way you just sort of gave me a wake up call, reminding me not to fall into my 'comfort trap' and just live, but also think about the future. Setting that balance and sticking to it is so stupidly difficult for me.

Hey man I love your content! I don't know if this help but To your problem at the beginning of the video: try and do the pomodoro technique (inform yourself if you don't know it) when trying to focus on something, write down your ideas and play with them and/or apply them (this apply when your brain is creating tons of fun ideas, while you try to go to bed/taking a poo/shower). The brain creates these things always in the defused process (doing tasks at home, being on the toilet or under shower), while in the focused process you are retrieving or putting in information. Now to the most important part: while taking a break/letting the brain defuse don't destract your mind with stressful situations /things. Try to calm it.

I have read quite a few books on it, but the prerequisite is that there is no math in them. I'm an idiot that looks at this stuff with awe because i don't underdstand it. There is obviously an awe to it for those who do underdtand it. But that neck of the woods will for ever be out of bounds to me. So it's just magic from my perspective. You know, David Foster Wallace did something quite similar. He mostly read Avante-Garde fiction from the 80's, and then the main ideas he stuck with were Wittgenstein's.
Who wants to just stay in the world of the classics? You'll end up being an extreme critic like Harold Bloom, or maybe not and you end up like Luis Jorge Borges.
Alex Grey is an artist, but if you read "The Mission of Art", one would be awoken to some of his conjectures on the purpose of trying to transcend the ideas of the past.

Keep it real, and don't entirely give up on the Canon. Pretty much all those great, though lesser-known writers, you'll be reading are going to be familiar with the great books that came before them. For me, the literary Canon is a doorway to reading widely. And I'm glad to hear you're not using it exclusively to inform yourself about the world.

THE SENTENCE ABOUT HOW YOUR BRAIN WORKS- that's my brain 😂😂😂 I would like a video from you "How I organize my thoughts"...can you create one like that? I have a plan to create that kind of video for my channel and I am happy I am not the onky one with that kind of brain...it's exhausting sometimes, but also gorgeous at the same time :-) I love your energy , your storytelling is wonderful...Storytelling..books...deep meaning of things ...those are the things I adore.

I totally agree with your opinion!!! when you say that we should stop reading books that bore us. A lot of people be like hey you should read this book, it's a best selling book, bla bla bla. and when you have given it a try, then you found the fact that the book isnt your cup of tea and really want to stop reading it. on the other hand, you'll be considered as a not smart person just because you dont read best-selling books. this is just a misconception when it comes to reading i guess, like why eveything should be best selling books? Some ordinary books are the best too actually. sometimes i feel like they are untouched, though there are a lot of lessons burried in those books. People should really stop reading books from only famous author. Other books are definitely deserve to try too

Hello, Mr. Waldun. I admire your work and share the passion for literature. Listening to you made me wonder, what do you mean when you say "the rights books (for oneself)"? I can either understand that being reading only what pleases you or reading eye-opening, mind-boggling, life-changeing books.

Do you mind creating a video based on the idea of 'willpower' whether it relates to life or writing? Within the world we live in, we have the knowledge to, let's say, write a book, but the knowledge of how to write a book, doesn't mean the same as the action towards writing a book. It would be interesting to get a take on your idea around this and how to overcome the lack of willpower.

I'm absolutely looking forward to your new content :) I love the focus on the process and finding meaning in the small things in life. It's something I had to deal with as well (and I'm still dealing with everyday). I guess it's part of intellectual maturity haha.
There's a subtle but irreplaceable beauty in everyday life, we probably cannot get anywhere but from our own phenomenical experience of the world. When you actually get to it, life becomes so much richer.
Also, feel free to be as weird as you can ;) and make as many mistakes as possible
