    Going to Seoul for the first time next week and so happy I came across your channel. Not the usual sensationalism and overhyping you see in a lot of other travel content, but instead genuinely likeable people giving useful information and insights into an exciting country. My husband and I have watched many of your videos in preparation for our trip to South Korea and found them very useful and informative! We have just returned from our 3 week trip and found SK amazing! We quickly navigated the subway thanks to your helpful instructions. SK is not a popular destination for Australians, they prefer busy Japan. Having travelled to over 67 countries, SK is now in my top 3 and I wish to shout to the world how underrated this amazing country is! We will surely be back again and will continue to watch your captivating, professional and informative vlogs 감사합니다!

    Great video. I used this info during daily during my Seoul visit. Scanning my t money card at the turnstiles was tricky for me. The red light stays red so I thought my card was being denied. User error…the helpful attendant helped me get through the turnstile. Eventually I figured it out and now I just listen for the beep to enter.

    Great video; super helpful. I’m curious how you get it so that you can use your phone on the subway. I’ll be living here for a couple years, so curious if that might be more convenient. Does the phone setup just work for the subway in Seoul or is it like the T-money card and work all over?

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much @seanmcnichol I'm glad it was a bit helpful! To use your phone you need a sim card with an NFC chip inside (I think this is standard now) and then the Mobile T Money (모바일티머니) app, which works amazing together with Samsung Pay if you have a Samsung phone. You can then use it all over the country no problem, and Samsung Pay is compatible with the regular credit card machines here, so I don't even carry a wallet anymore.

    I'm going to Seoul in November and found your video informative. It seems Soeul's subway is similar to many places around the world, which makes it intuitive for me. You mentioned that you cannot top t money with credit cards. Are there places where you can top them up with cards?

      @lostthenfound  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    First time in seoul and their train system is actually very easy to use. Unlike in the UK, I got lost a couple of times. Lol. The good thing in the UK is that they accept credit cards as tap to pay. No longer required to purchase separate cards

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Really agree with you there @pbatacan! That's nice that credit cards work in the UK. I think they are cash only in Korea just because they have to do anything they can to keep them cheap and not pay the card fees.

      @@lostthenfound 2 days in ive been commuting like a local here in korea already. Hahaha. Their trains are smooth and silent. I can say theirs is better than UK and US. So far, Korean subway is the best for me. Never been to japan yet though.

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's great to hear @pbatacan! Japan's subways are very similar to Korea's, but more expensive when you travel further and there are multiple companies so sometimes you have to leave the gates from one company and enter the gates to another company.

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So glad it was helpful @irmazandl thanks so much! Unfortunately I'm pretty sure you need a Korean ID to get the SIM card that allows you to tap onto the subway/buses, so you'll have to buy a T-money card. A lot of people put the T-money card on their phone case though so it's kind of similar. Have an amazing trip!

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Loessing thanks so much! I think you need a Samsung phone (you can buy a sticker card for an iPhone too, and it might work digitally now too? I'm not sure) and then once you have a Korean ID and SIM card you can download the Mobile T Money app or use Samsung Pay to register a new transportation card.

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question! I've never seen a printable version of a subway/bus map, but if you have a smartphone you can download the Kakao Metro app and it works without an internet connection as well. A venti taxi (van type) can take 5 passengers at a time, but a regular taxi can only take 4.

    • @lostthenfound

      @piabeans it's totally fine to bring luggage on the subways here, but I would try my best to avoid rush hour (weekdays from 7-9am and 5-7pm) if possible. The airport express is always okay to take luggage, and on regular subways look for the wheelchair sections which you're allowed to put luggage if there are no wheelchair users there.
