THANK YOU Dee for being real and saying what you believe. I'm 18 and currently in therapy to heal my trauma, but I'm starting to realize that I have full control of the way I look at things. Not easy to move on, but if I try enough I can kill my past and focus more on the present. I hope this makes sense, I'm portuguese 😊😊
I’m also 18 but I’m out of therapy and never thought about things the way she said it. There’s this one thing that happened that I wanted to address with someone with the help of my therapist but as time went on I was scared to and didn’t so I ended up feeling like I would no longer be able to get over it for that reason. Thinking about it now I realize that it’s not true because it’s actually me that can’t let it go. I’ve always held grudges too so that’s why I’m only able to look past things but never move on from them.

No disrespect to Dee, I didn’t expect her to add her own knowledge or that she’d expand so profoundly on it. But oh my god. I sat thinking just in a daze, this resonated with me. Every past ‘negative’ experience insecurity or fear I had exists now as a fully grown woman and I am DONE feeling trapped in what happened so long ago. As a 26 year old woman on the daily I revert back to a young teen feeling helpless, apologising for everything and feeling lesser than others. Im sick of it and not letting it have hold over me no more 😠 love you Dee. All the blessings to Dee’s subscribers!!
i hear what dee is saying. however, therapy is needed for some to unlearn certain behaviors and thoughts that are steering their life in a negative/self destructive direction. you can think in the present all you want, but if your trauma has turned you into a person who develops poor habits, relationship and social skills, etc then thats not very beneficial to you. not everyone needs therapy, but some people do need the help and can’t do it on their own if they don’t have the tools. only thinking in the present and forgetting about what happened in the past can create denial and brushing over issues that you need to confront in order to heal. there are issues and trauma that people dont even realize are impacting their life and creating issues for them. therapy can help to free you of your trauma as well.
I agree. I think focusing on the present does have its benefits, but it will not be equally beneficial to everyone. I’ve had social anxiety and disordered eating for most of my life, and I personally don’t think focusing on the present would solve those issues and the causes of those things. But I guess that could be because I’m still currently struggling with those things. Many people have to have an active connection with their past to avoid relapses and related things. I have to relate things to eating disorders because I’m the most well versed in that area. But many people have to use their past as a guide to avoid getting back to a certain place. I do agree that focusing on the past and future more than the present does cause more mental anguish than necessary though.
Appreciate y’all sharing your perspectives. Being present isn’t about being in denial of past experiences though, it’s about being in full acceptance of what happened and letting it go. It’s no longer affecting you in reality in the present, only in your head...it isn’t real. You can only experience the effectiveness of this when you consistently practice it, it’s difficult to explain. But I like this video that explains it further, he articulates it better than I can: th-cam.com/video/SWcaaxqYz6A/w-d-xo.html ❤️

That one "let people say no to you" was half way there. Theres a dutch saying "nee heb je, ja kan je krijgen" (you already have no, you can get a yes) which is what she was trying to say. It means that whatever you want to ask, ASK IT! the worst they can say is NO, but the possibility of them saying yes is also there. Hopefully that cleared it up
Dee be speaking of them FACTS. I never been on the idea of therapy for that exact reason cuz I don't wanna think about it. I wanna move on and do something with my life. Instead of wasting my time on those meetings, I wanna experience fun things.
For me G-dragon said on his documentary "...... Let the world turn without you, they will do just good, you are not that important.....people are just as lost as you" Seems like nothing but made me realize that I was caring everyone's problems, trying to help and solve everyone's problems, I was just "Na I'm out of here, do it yourself" And I also stopped comparing my life with other people's lives, they are just as lost as I am. I focused on my life discovered my own personality and everytime I feel like I'm getting overwhelmed with everybody's stuff, I disconnect myself and let them do their things and I focus only on me.
4:22 this right here is going to make me change the way I think. I get embarrassed easily and I always overthink, maybe realising that it’s probably only my thoughts and insecurities letting me down will change my mind in a way? If that makes sense??
Dee you spoke big facts 🔥💯 I used to feel so depressed all the time cause I had often thought about my trauma relating to other people and who have done me wrong and all of my fuck ups and losses that I have caused and worried too much about the state of my future but I have noticed lately that my mood has improved a whole lot, just worried about my present life, I have a new great job, great friends that I talk to, and blessings that are pending and I’m just happy and greatful to be alive and look forward to what else life brings to me going forward. I agree with everything you said, people got to live in the present and stop letting the past or worry too much about the future having them stop them from living their best life 💯 Love you Dee 🥰
“It’s not about you” made me take very good care of myself and made me never count on other people. I never knew I was so strong until other people pointed it out to me🥰🥰🥰🥰 It’s always about ME with ME🥳
This is why I love dee as an 16 year old girl myself we tend to focus on things such as past or future and others opinions ect that in perspective really don't matter I honestly really needed this thank you
We can literally change everything about our personality and live a better life in a millisecond. For me that's the scary part, being the person I've always been around others and trying to change that is tough cause I overthink it way to much.
Something I heard that I thought was interesting is "Other people's opinion about you...is none of your business", There was more to it but I don't remember it exactly. The person who said this was telling a story about something that happened to them, where their teacher told them to never do public speaking and that she was bad at English. When heard this I was like wow because the way that she explained it was really cool. I sure that at least 1 person knows who I am referring to.🤔I think so.

I see what you're saying about trauma. I agree with that. Unfortunately alot of people have unresolved trauma and they inflict that onto others. With PTSD the thoughts are intrusive. VERY intrusive. The fact that seeing him could trigger that kind of response means I still have work to do when it comes to that.
Dee what you are tackling about therapy is interesting, but most people that go to therapy dont need to do it for the rest of their lives, there is a reason why psychologists end the patients treatment at some point. And even if you dont go to the past, the past will hunt you down through the subconscious, and it will end up causing problems in your life becoming our daily neurosis. Going back to the past throught therapy, talking about childhood and our trauma helps process and elaborate that, so we can do better in the present and cure ourselves from our neurotic elements.
Can you make a video about how you got into meditation? I have been trying lately, usually with shorter guided meditations on youtube. I often feel like I'm not doing it right & find it hard to make routine. But I want it to be routine, because when I do it successfully it is very helpful. IDK if this is a normal part of starting with it.
U rlly is one of the only people dat i can jus watch an be at peace wit myself, u jus such normal but at the same time not normal person dat i feel like everybody can relate wit, everybody else on youtube seem so robotic buh u human💯😂
I agree with what yoau said somewhat but some people cant control thinking about trauma especially when ptsd in involved. There are certain truama in which you will never forget.
I used to be very scared of what will happen after death that it would cause me to get many panic attacks and countless sleepless nights. Until I saw a post that responded to someone who was scared of the afterlife too, they said "whatever happens then, will be future me's problem". And for some reason it just clicked. I still often think about it but all I do is just tell myself that quote and I relax
I used to let my trauma get a hold to me. One day I saw a picture of my little cousin graduating highschool.(I thought she still was in elementary) As I was thinking to myself, I realized that life was passing me by. I told myself that I rather let go & be happy instead of mourning & not doing anything with my life. ***At the end of the day those same people are out here living their best life while you're thinking about the fucked up things they did to you.*** Now, when I think about what was done, it doesn't badly effect me anymore.
So we all know the quote "A jack of all trades is a master of none". But most people don't know theres a part 2 to that quote. "A jack of all trades is a master of none, though often is better than a master of one." When I heard that other half, it made me seriously reconsider the direction I wanted my life to go in.
I liked this video, was positive and felt like a conversation. There've been several sentences from other people that've changed my way of thinking. One was from a professor. I was constantly tardy, she told me that it's costing me because I submit good work but get lower grades from the point deductions. She said something like "there's so much in life that's out of our control, why make life harder by not taking control of what you can," in regards to me being on time. I apply that mindset generally now.
Wait See I think it's really important to seek therapy for trauma. I personally believe it is important for people to come to terms and cope with trauma. I really also believe you should remember things you have experienced even if it is trauma, you better protect yourself in the future if you remember the trauma... That doesn't mean you have to let it run your life, but just learn from and cope.
I get what you’re saying at the end but I feel like trauma can and does show up in ways you don’t even realize or recognize. A lot of what ppl do is because of what happened to them or what they went through, no matter if they try to forget it or not. The subconscious is real and powerful. Putting it in the back of your head and forgetting it happened is like sweeping it under the rug. No you gotta face it and find a way to overcome it. The problem is a lot of ppl don’t find ways to overcome it. A lot of ppl become victims but I don’t know if I think the answer is to act like it doesn’t have an affect on you. A lot of ppl act like trauma didn’t happen to them and are miserable because of that. I think you gotta face it, overcome, and then leave it in the past and I think that’s what therapy should help you do. I don’t think you should be in therapy for the rest of your life though bc if you are, it sounds like it’s not working lol. Therapy should help you get the tools to deal with your trauma and create support groups that you can talk to so you can get your ass up out of there but a lot of times it doesn’t and ppl don’t do that.
I used to think naturally ignorant people did that. And I don't mean ignorant as unknowingly. I mean a "eff you" naturally subconsciously defiant way. And that's not necessarily a negative thing🤣👌🏾🤣👌🏾🥰
Food and Money one, not actually factual but a definitely a perspective that might apply to you. Trauma cannot be removed though as you know. You can't just shove it in a draw and put a plaster on it. Life is not that easy. The only thing you can do, is try to live and make something beautiful for yourself, but this doesn't mean you won't ever get a unplanned trigger back to the Trauma because that's just life. It also all depends on the level of Trauma and what happened. These are just facts. If you had therapy and stopped you had support some people don't get to talk it out like you, some people still need that therapy first to get it off your chest and then reflect how they plan to move into the here and now. This is just my view point because life isn't always just black and white on Trauma.
Hey, agreeing with you, I have a question focusing on the future. How do you live in the present knowing that you have to plan and focus on future as well. Just a quick question. What’s your opinion on that?
I mean, the money & food thing is true for me but that's because most of my "wasted" money goes towards food. lol. So when I'm bad with my diet, usually I'm just eating out a lot or ordering delivery, which is expensive. When I'm good about counting my calories, it's usually because I'm cooking at home a lot which saves money. I'm pretty good about moderating myself with hobbies & everything, so I don't overspend on anything else.
"Quit, don't quit. Noodles, don't noodles. You are too concerned with what was and what will be. There's a saying: Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present." - Oogway (Kung Fu Panda)
the first one: me while currently binge eating a whole meal for 2 from wingstop and only $4 in my account because i went crazy on doordash and amazon purchases this month oops
first one is not true about money.. i save and spend money meticulously.. but when i spend it on food.. I eat like shit.. i give no fucks about calories lol
One sentence that changed my way of thinking is “I’ll talk about it at the end!”… I’ve had trust issues ever since. 😂
🤣🤣

The only thing you can do, is try to live and make something beautiful for yourself, but this doesn't mean you won't ever get a unplanned trigger back to the Trauma because that's just life. It also all depends on the level of Trauma and what happened. These are just facts. If you had therapy and stopped you had support some people don't get to talk it out like you, some people still need that therapy first to get it off your chest and then reflect how they plan to move into the here and now. This is just my view point because life isn't always just black and white on Trauma.
Quote that change my life: "If the booty phat hit it from the back."
5:42 she looks like a drawing to the point where it's crossing the uncanny valley...
6:18 I had the exact same reaction at the same time
That very first vid is so accurate 😭

"Quit, don't quit. Noodles, don't noodles. You are too concerned with what was and what will be. There's a saying: Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present." - Oogway (Kung Fu Panda)
