@@maralovely8100 Lol, don't let yourself be. It doesn't take much at all to find a recipe for something, follow the instructions, and get used to being in the kitchen. One of the most important things about life in general is working towards being self-sufficient. I'm not saying you have to be some five star chef, but you can at least be Chef Boyardee for a bit lol.
The job one does make sense. When you work in corporate everything has a trickle down effect. When a person higher than you does something wrong you end up getting the short end of the stick or you end up doing someone else’s work because they either did it wrong or slack off sometimes.
Growing up is not so bad! This video makes it seem exceedingly overwhelming and tbh there are pretty good days and pretty bad days. But when life is overwhelming allow yourself to take a break and then come back and tackle one thing at a time - it’s ok if it’s not done perfectly- give yourself some grace in the process.
Kelly is right tho. When you overachieve at your job you are left to pick up the slack. You can't be "mean" in a cooperate job and tell your co-workers to get their asses in gear and do their work properly and you are expected to guide/ help your co-workers. The even more frustrating part is the most lackluster people are people persons they are nice friendly get along with everyone and get promoted because of this. They either stagnate get promoted/or moved(someone else's problem) or get demoted but you don't often see them getting fired. Some quit and move on to another company to leech there.
That’s not an adult problem though, that’s a personal problem for overachievers. You can just choose to focus on your own work and not “overachieve” and don’t bring all that added stress upon yourself for no reason. That’s something I had to learn the hard way. And I’m so glad I did. Now I just do the work required and worry about my damn self and I’m chillin mentally. Also therapy might help. I say that because of a lot of time being an overachiever is because of lack of fulfillment, attention or love, so working through that might help as well.
@@devronl08 that works until the problem becomes your issue, therefore forcing you to overachieve. Happens a lot in kitchens. Day shift doesn't prep for Night shift Night shift didn't filter the fryer properly A new person is started on a busy day Someone forgets their order Etc. Mostly, The customer doesn't care about all of that. All they know is that it's taken too long for what they ordered to be delivered and we all know how that dung ball rolls. In work environments where blame befalls everyone, slackers aren't welcomed. Edit: shoot, there are times when the team is in the weeds and are consequentially locked to spot meaning they cant leave their station unless someone covers for them. Would be the manager or kitchen captain job to cover but alas they too are busy af so then it falls onto either the dropper(fry person) or make up (person who sets up plates for orders) to pick up the slack being that Drop can over drop to compensate for any missed orders and Makeup only has so much room to set plates on. By your logic, these two should just focus on them, stand around and let the kitchen fail. If so, then those two would be fired. "If you have time to lean, you have time to clean" I was dropper, and was in those very situations. I'd over drop, run around asking what was needed, make a chiller run, restock the line and then return to my duties. It's not being an overachiever, it's doing your job and being damned good at it. Anyone who says otherwise is a hater who is shackled by self doubt. They dont want to look dumb by putting effort into something they don't truly care about and lack the understanding of why you care so much and instead of coming to the introspective conclusion that their attitude may be what's wrong, they will instead fault you, eventhough you are just being successful. To all my "overachievers", keep doing the damned thing. Management sees you and appreciates your effort. "Success is the persistent pursuit of a worthy idea." - Earl Nightingale, 'The Secret to a Successful Life.'
@@AlternateInfinite Thats a very specific example, and quite the lengthy message haha. There will always be outliers, nothing is absolute. Outliers aren’t the standard and never will be. In most jobs you don’t need to pick up the slack of others in order for your own job not to be in jeopardy, so there’s that. Also as you said, your example isn’t being an overachiever, so it’s a moot point and example. I was speaking of people who just naturally overachieve in a position where is isn’t needed. I never said anything about them being successful or not, I was speaking about the need to overachieve versus the payout of it, and also the reason why many individuals are overachievers in the first place. I disagree with you, that definitely doesn’t make me a hater 😂 I was a chronic overachiever until my 30’s, besides I don’t know the millions of overachievers in the world, why would I hate on them? Anyway, again your example isn’t being an overachiever but having no choice but to pick up the slack of others or shoulder the burdens of working with a team where sometimes others have to take on some of the work of their coworkers for whatever reason. Not the same thing. “Success can also be defined as working smarter, not harder” - Me
Technically Cinderella was sorta in the same economic class....just one off. Her stepmother and stepsisters were basically the equivalent of duchesses...it's just that they made her look poor but she was also a princess character-wise in that she was super feminine and pretty and not a horrible soulless person like her step family...which basically all put her on the level of a princess
Kelly kind of has a point though. If you’re an adult be responsible, pull your own weight, and put forth an honest effort. Otherwise someone else has to bear the stress and make up for it and if it doesn’t get done it’s gonna go on someone’s performance review which impacts pay and promotion.
But that goes even further since finding a job is DIFFICULT. Imagine being turned down for a job at a company to find out someone Shitty got it for no good reason. Really. =_= Especially since COVID the market is much harder to get into.
Thats not always on your coworker though. Sometimes, actually its more like OFTEN, ppl just genuinely aren't a good fit for a job that they have, but bc they have to be an adult too, they cant just up and quit bc stuff aint going as smoothly as they thought. Everyone has a different learning curve, some ppl are hired bc they hav expertise in one task but are completely horrible in other tasks in the same job. Should have more beef with the person that hired them than the person themself.
Time moves faster for us adults because we dont have nothing to look forward to anymore. As kids we look forward to winter breaks, summer breaks, early release, Christmas gifts, birthdays and other new things to us in the world. Now we hate our birthdays just another reminder we're a few years closer to the inevitable doom 😫
You can make things to look forward to. And as an adult you can put together the money to carry out those plans. As a kid all those things were planned by other people and you just got to reap the rewards (gifts, vacation, etc.)
Like, I’m going to be a senior next year, and all I know is how to annotate books and my times tables😭( not literally). But I’m learning more about life on TikTok, than school, which is supposed to “help prepare kids for the future”. Literally the school system is terrible, and quite frankly, school after 8th grade is useless🤷🏾♀️
I feel the overachiever Kelly because the slack gets put onto you and that's infuriating when you are genuinely trying your best and others are just trying to collect a check by riding the clock.

4:20 confusing but she was talking about how capitalism isnt sustainable whatsoever. (i think) and being forced to live and die by money is a miserable way of living- and unfortunately majority of us have to.
I wish somebody had explained how the electric bill works before I moved out. My first winter on my own my bill was well over $300 and then I finally understood why my mom yelled at me to cut the light off or to stop letting the heat out.
The reason time feels like it moves so fast is because of the percentage a year is of your life. When you’re 1, a year is your whole life. When you’re 2, a year is half your life. When you’re 30, a year is only 1/30 of your whole life
Got to disagree with the work thing, if you can do your job really well and someone else cannot if the other is under you then you have to always correct the, if they are on the same level you have to do more work because the work will be given to the one who is more reliable, and if it's the one on top, they may try point you as the source of the issue.
Yep especially if you’re on a team. Best believe you’ll be doing majority of the work and the other person enjoys life I had an internship where my supervisor told me not to do too much work ( I was tryna be reliable) because I stick out too much

Imma expose myself 😂 I'm 19 no job and not in school. I have to get a job by june/July or else ill be kicked out. I have a hard time talking to people/never had the energy to go outside and socialize. This kept me from getting a job sooner. I wanted to be a night stocker but my family told me "no any job but that, you're a girl its dangerous out here". I dont want to deal with customers in fear of not knowing the right things to say or worry about what I look like, and the chance of a customer being rude knowing I can't do a damn thing about it makes me not want to go with retail. I do my best cleaning up my room and the dishes like my mom asked in return. Since I haven't dealt with my clinical depression/social anxiety for almost 6 years I will soon have to go to school. Not part time, but full time still not knowing what I want to do after a whole year passed and be stressed all over again while also having a full time job. The thought of never having time to yourself to enjoy life is annoying to me. In order to get a good paying job you have to go to college. For years at that. You pobably won't get to enjoy the money you make until your 40. Don't want go to college? Be prepared to work a 9-5 for the rest of your life just to live decently. Im wasting my youth either way and idk what route I should take.
Learn programing !hundred of tutorial on TH-cam, no degree needed ,high paying job give yourself 1 years to learn 2 language with database and you good
I suggest the military specifically the reserves they'll help you get in shape pay for college and free healthcare/insurance not only that you can put your family on the same plan Also military discounts in like 30% of America I can't really suggest a branch Try air force However dont do the navy I highly recommend you dont go there
Well in terms of your worrying about your appearance and your anxiety and what not, it's not as bad as you might think. I can 100% say I was the same, espcially having grown up in state custody my whole life, but getting my retail job actually helped me overcome a lot of that. I care about doing a good job at whatever I do, and so it forced me to have to talk to people more and confront them and whatnot, it's actually made it so I'm not as shy or scared of people. Not a cure by any means but it will definitely teach you to get over a lot of those feelings :) and you absolutely do not need college 😂😂 I never went and Ive managed to make as much as most people would after having gone to school and gotten their degree, only difference is i don't have student debt lol. Gotta start doing some research yourself and asking questions to the adults around you if you are not already and the military is always an option lime some others have said

I chose nursing and love what I do I’m 37 and soon starting a master program to become a nurse practitioner in family practice but I did know until I was 24 what I wanted to and once I realized it took another 4 years to start because of life and now from 28-39 god willing I will have my nurse practitioner took me 11yrs because life kept throwing hurdles like deaths in the family or me getting sick so I spent 1.5yrs to drop 165lb get my health together now I can finally finish school. Still no wife or kids I want to finish school first before settling down but at no point coming out of high school I was prepared for all of life I just learn what I need to along the way

Here's the thing that has been lost for a while now, School doesn't teach you about life. You learn how to live life by yourself. Through trail and error and you improve by learning from your experience. No person on this planet is given an user manual
We all know this and yet no one has done anything to dismantle the systems teaching us BS. We all know 9-5’s makes us miserable but as a collective we haven’t done anything to make work days shorter with more pay in order to actually LIVE OUR LIVES HOW WE WERE INTENDED. This whole world is one big Joke
When a person is bad at their job, that's extra work for you. Especially when you are good at your job. I've learned that the bad ones get to slack off more and not really get reprimanded. But because you are a good worker, your bosses make you pick up the slack and get upset if you slack off a little. So, yeah, Kelly has a good point.
I wish their was some halfway point in between high school and college that helped kids that didn't know wth to do with their life after school. If there is shout it out, cause I did not want to go to college but felt like there was no skill I had and decided I'd have to waste money I didn't have to be successful somehow.
I'm 19 about to turn 20 in a couple months and I still don't know what the fuck I want to do or even be. I'm in college my major is business but what the fuck business do I even want to do? I don't know. this adult life is stressful working and shit

As a teen now everything feels so weird and i feel so numb to the world and time is just passing by like a train and everyday i procrastinate is another dream i want thrown in the trash 🤦🏾♀️
Kelly didn't describe her issue well. In Corporate, there are people who do absolutely nothing in their roles and find any and everything to blame others for when tasks are not accomplished or if issues go wrong. In my personal employment case, I'm SUPPOSE to work with my coworkers to keep an obligated process running by doing my part in the damn job, however, I spend most of my time locked in my office, avoiding everyone, and covering my ass in emails. It's draining, but Kelly was about to cry.. I aint doing that shit 😂
@@tifzu_ Right, if it was so simple as "Just do your own job, and mind your business" it wouldn't be nothing to complain about. I feel for Kelly, but I'm being paid more than enough to deal with the BS, so 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️😂
Her math is only correct for a person that doesn't multitask, which doesn't exist. I can work, do laundry, walk my dog, and etc basically in the same time frame. Nobody stops everything they are doing to chew gum.
Let’s start a thread of things that should or wished was taught in schools. Taxes How to get out of debt or avoid? How to avoid scams? How to manage money & not overspend? How to stay healthy as possible? Better education on drugs? Possible ways to invest money & grow your own business? How to pay your bills & avoid being broke or stay financial stable. I personal feel the school system is bad because they don’t want us to be successful or own more business & be happy
Dee here’s video series type idea (only if you’re interested), “how to prepare for life after you move out” like for ppl moving out at 18 or anything that. What should we prepare, plan and figure?
I agree with the "Do your own job" sentiment, only as long as someone else's fuckups aren't messing with MY job Lol. If I gotta do extra work because of someone else dropping the ball that's annoying asf.
This came to me: Figuring out how to organize. Been working for a hospital for almost 13 years and I almost never too vacations because I don't know how to organize my scheduling or how the process works. I only went to LA to see my dad and brother about 3 times for vacation, and with my dad gone, I have little reason to do vacations. Everything is expensive. Aside from vacations, there's appointments and shit. Dentists can take a few hours of work, so trying to work in a better sleep schedule is hard. Also, insurance barely covers shit. $1300 for a tooth capping, $200 insurance coverage, dentists don't do payments? I can't walk in that bitch with $1100 in my pocket! Been trying to save money for all this time and only got $100 in there still, due to very bad eating habits.
Something to add to the list: Mental Health. Like yeah we had health class in school but actually talking and normalizing taking care of ones own mental health was never discussed. As adults we take on so much throughout our day to day that there's never a time to slow down and take a mental health day. That's why its important to stop yourself and be like "okay its either me or this job what's it going to be." Also I agree about the college thing. I dropped out cause i spent so much time and money learning something and stressing over something I probably was going to struggle to get into anyway. College is a waste and a scam but kudos to those who got their degrees.
I'm 18 turning 19 later this year about to start my adult life. I'm already accepted in a college for August but have no idea what I am gonna major in or what type of job I am going to have after college. I'm gonna have to get a job in the summer( I don't have to but it's for my own personal gain of wealth, I hate being broke.) While my little brothers can't wait for me to move out lmao, My parents don't care too much about moving out so that's good. I have no driver's license or permit. EDIT:Just noticed how many 18-21 year olds in this comment section.
Actually, depending on what job you have, other people not doing there job, could mean more work for you or you not being able to do your job. I mean what the janitor does or what someone does in accounting doesn't effect me the same as what someone I'm teamed up with on a project. Though sometime I can get away with if they don't do their job, it's not my fault I can't do mine. But that only works if you boss isn't looking to you for a done project, if they are, it doesn't matter, I've had to just do the person's work to a project done on time.
It was the filing taxes for the first time for me. I didn't know wtf I was doing but I was sure I was going to jail cause it felt like I was filling out everything wrong.
Tik tok taught me how to write a check, what to look for in apartments, how to apply for a loan, what to say in a job interview, how to fix a tire...and I don't even drive (yet) highschool isn't teaching me shit. Why don't schools give money management classes or something, what will the Pythagorean theorem do for me?
Laundry detergent and toothpaste are expensive af. That’s why I coupon. I never pay for tooth paste and never pay more than $2 for laundry detergent. Name brand stuff too. 😌
As someone who’s almost 18, about to go to *FILM SCHOOL* (I know it’s a difficult job path but it’s what I know I’d be best at)- I’m scared. Shaking. Terrified.
Is it me or these people never observe anything growing up. Because I know how pay bill, wash clothes, house maintenance in middle schools and in high school with a single mother. Like who raise them. I thought we were learn responsibility at a young age.
No obviously not.Parent should definitely teach what they learned to their children but that doesn’t happen often in my opinion.Kids & teenagers are too busy having fun so school is really the only place where we’re taught that learning things is necessary
It means your parents did what they were supposed to do. The fact that so many people are surprised about basic things that must be done shows there were a few lessons that weren't taught at home. Even though children are going to school to learn academically, parents are still responsible for teaching their children what they need to know when it comes to the "real world". You prepare your children now so they aren't surprised about the fact that they have to "do laundry".
@@johnnytsunami9132 Yea I definitely agree. But the parents had learned from the school system as well so get tricky.especially when we get some things that they didn’t.Like now in America its a new test that is required for all senior to know current things about America to graduate high school
Shit like this makes me not wanna move out from the comfort of my parent's home for a while....and I'm in my 20s...also saving enough money for literally everything except breathing is really hard
With me turning 18 next month this is scaring me even more now but it's just sad and irritating that schools never teach us how to live in the real world as an adult. But want us to be educated in things that we may never use in our lives honestly.

The job one does make sense. When you work in corporate everything has a trickle down effect. When a person higher than you does something wrong you end up getting the short end of the stick or you end up doing someone else’s work because they either did it wrong or slack off sometimes.
That's a personal problem.
@@von8619 okay but if it’s that personal in your opinion why reply to my comment
I'm 16 and I just want to cry everyday don't want to grow up nor do I want to stay young
You have an enigma my friend. But honestly life is simple, people just makes it more difficult.
Same.
same. i get too overwhelmed thinking about not being a youth in 10 years. it really upsets me. working on it though.
@@sarahrantala4895 I am older and want to help yall so bad but not sure how to do it exactly.
This!
I say that because of a lot of time being an overachiever is because of lack of fulfillment, attention or love, so working through that might help as well.
it depends on the job,if you're working at Popeyes you should not care if the people ordering forgot to bring their coupon
@@devronl08 that works until the problem becomes your issue, therefore forcing you to overachieve.
Happens a lot in kitchens.
Day shift doesn't prep for Night shift
Night shift didn't filter the fryer properly
A new person is started on a busy day
Someone forgets their order
Etc.
Mostly,
The customer doesn't care about all of that.
"If you have time to lean, you have time to clean"
I was dropper, and was in those very situations.
Otherwise someone else has to bear the stress and make up for it and if it doesn’t get done it’s gonna go on someone’s performance review which impacts pay and promotion.
thank you👍
But that goes even further since finding a job is DIFFICULT.
I feel for Kelly in those situations where someone doing thier job badly makes more work for you.
This compilation was unexpectedly eye opening...
There’s the military
Learn programing !hundred of tutorial on TH-cam, no degree needed ,high paying job give yourself 1 years to learn 2 language with database and you good
I suggest the military specifically the reserves they'll help you get in shape pay for college and free healthcare/insurance not only that you can put your family on the same plan
Also military discounts in like 30% of America
I can't really suggest a branch
Try air force
However dont do the navy I highly recommend you dont go there
Well in terms of your worrying about your appearance and your anxiety and what not, it's not as bad as you might think. Gotta start doing some research yourself and asking questions to the adults around you if you are not already and the military is always an option lime some others have said
Every detail is exactly the same for me but my mom won't kick me out.... Yet.

Kelly get outta my screen...I'm dying 😂
Something to add to the list: Mental Health. Like yeah we had health class in school but actually talking and normalizing taking care of ones own mental health was never discussed. As adults we take on so much throughout our day to day that there's never a time to slow down and take a mental health day. That's why its important to stop yourself and be like "okay its either me or this job what's it going to be." Also I agree about the college thing. I dropped out cause i spent so much time and money learning something and stressing over something I probably was going to struggle to get into anyway. College is a waste and a scam but kudos to those who got their degrees.
This is why living a simple nomadic life is better

Actually, depending on what job you have, other people not doing there job, could mean more work for you or you not being able to do your job. I mean what the janitor does or what someone does in accounting doesn't effect me the same as what someone I'm teamed up with on a project. Though sometime I can get away with if they don't do their job, it's not my fault I can't do mine. But that only works if you boss isn't looking to you for a done project, if they are, it doesn't matter, I've had to just do the person's work to a project done on time.
