- We cross the border to Gibraltar to stock up on a few supplies before heading North and back to full time van life. However, this wasn't the only reason to head to the coast.
We were sent a couple of Aqua Marina Paddle boards a few months ago, after testing them out at various locations we thought it was about time we reviewed them...

Your visit to Gibralter brought a wry smile to myself. My sister had not long sat her Spannish "O" level and did very well and got an A* for the exam. My mother and father took her to Spain where they had a "timeshare" . My mum (god love her) wanted to show off her daughter's linguistic skills and one day at the Mercado , asked he,r to ask " How much for this ....?"My sister in her best Glasgow accent turned round and my mum in expectation was waiting to hear a fluent conversation, but was treated with " how mucho?" . Then on a visit to Gib my sister kept asking "What is a OPES Den" When of course its an Apes Den..... Ah the joys of travel....stay safe and thanks again for sharing, as I look out this dreich (dreech) horrible wet day. Today my mother and father would have been married 65 years, alas, not to be and she cannot even remember this , or even my father. Cherish each other . Derek XXX

(it will be in a different van) but we will one day drive to Australia, we have lots of planning etc! I once tried to travel from Spain to Gibraltar years ago when Spain would not allow non-Spanish people to cross the border. The soldier manning the check point decided to scream at me for trying to cross. It all fell on deaf ears because I don't speak Spanish. Actually I knew about the blockade and decided to aggravate him... it worked!

Glad you were careful about the wind. I had a friend who was using a small lilo type inflateable in the sea near Estepona. He fell asleep, drifted out to sea, and was eventually picked up by the Moroccan coastguard. Thankfully he was unharmed!
OMG! That’s crazy, but can totally see that happening! We definitely would have drifted to Morocco if we stopped paddling! 😳

"More beach brollies than people . . . . Perhaps they set up first thing in the morning . . . . " when we lived there, the locals staked a claim to 'their' bit of beach in April/May and left everything there until October when it was then chained to the fence ready to be deployed the following year! Happy days.

I really wanted a 30ft cabin cruiser but would happily settle for a sit on kayak. As I don't have room on the roof of my camper, a inflatable SUP looks like a great way to enjoy getting out on a lake. Much research has been done since your video!! Great review of the boards. Not sure I have the stamina to blow one up in 10 mins but an electric pump would help to get the bulk of the air in.

Lovely to see Catalan bay in Gibraltar. Brings back memory happy memories. Great place to swim and soft sand. Always interesting to hear the locals speaking llanito speaking Spanish and English. Some very nice inexpensive lunch time cafes too. Always love the area in and around gib. Great beaches in Spain. The rock always hypnotic in the background. You had the sense to realise the dangers of the current and effects of levante wind. Enjoy your travels. Dogs are great and well behaved.

OMG. We have two 'lunatic dogs' and there's no way they'd stay on those surf-boards. They would be in the water with the shark. 😅 Great video, well done. Hopefully Covid-19 won't restrict your plans.

Where there's a baby shark there is probably a momma shark. No way would I get in that water. Nice video though. Good to see the clear water and bright sunshine. Have you ever thought of contacting the Spanish tourist board? They should fund you for all the video's you do. I would love moving to Gibraltar, but property seems so expensive.

But yes, Gibraltar is very expensive to live there, rent is really high and properties soooo expensive, it’s also not allowed to stay there overnight in a van, so only day trips and the. Back over the border to sleep👍

Fantastic, I can't wait to get one of those boards, I did have an inflatable canoe, a double skin type and it was a nightmare to dry it off after use, not good in a van. I would prefer to use a double end paddle and seat for fishing, it's great how small it packs down too. U.K. it's Autumn here now.

The umbrella s just like the towel issue. With the Germans they go to the beach and stick there spike in the sand with the brolly 🇩🇪 that’s them marking there bit of area

haha did you notice Charlie's tail dipping in the water @ 8 mins :) Storms here today in the UK feels like winter is coming. Too hot last week these would have been perfect. Did you have to buy those pumps seperatley? Or could you just get the one.

Hi guys fab video def thinking about getting a supboard too, we just got back from our first trip in scotland we have a low roof and short wheel base had a fab time, we did buy your usb shower omg it was bliss almost forgot it wasnt a house shower it was that good ended up using 20litres water (ooops) , but we do need some advice on a better bed system because everynight we had to inflate the bed in a low roof van which has killed our backs so now we are recovering still abit sore , any advice on a better bed would be great, its great that the boys love them supboards too hope your travels continue and keep enjoying it ,all the best to you and the boys xxx p.s marmite is amazing lol

We have been to Switzerland a couple of times but not spent long there as previously always in a rush. We will definitely be going back in the future though and have to check it out 😀

Fabulous Vlog! How heavy are those boards when they are folded? I’d love one, and it would have to fit in my tiny car. I’m older and not that strong anymore and I can’t carry a solid plastic kayak or SUP.
They weigh about 10kg when folded down.. I (Sarah) manage your carry it when pumped up quite easily under 1 arm😉

*Wouldn't it be easier to inflate the SUP boards with a 12volt air pump...?*
Think you can get a special pump yes, but they are quite expensive, you can’t just use a car tyre style pump or one for an air mattress as far as we know... We are tempted to invest but we also enjoy the workout.. Doesn’t take too long to pump them (about 7 minutes) but it’s 7 mins hard workout! Lol x
