Thanks very much! Typically release these trips in episodes one each week as I edit them. Then, after the episodic series is done and a few months go by, I release the “full doc” version which is basically all the episodes back to back to back in one place. People seem to like them more than the series. You don’t have to search each episode to watch it chronologically as TH-cam will just pick up where you left off on the longer vids if you want to watch it in multiple sittings. My followers like it and it’s also a way I can make better use of the content as, i think I deserve it after such a long and expensive trip and filming / editing it all etc.
Suffering a lot of trauma in my life right now. Your content, especially this video, are helping me more than any medication does. Thanks Jim. You do things for people you may have never thought of....😢
Imagine what a short few hour float in a local river will do for you then. I started local and small (got an inflatable kayak I could afford, later on I will own a canoe), and my mental health has been better than ever. We were born to be outdoors, and water is very healing for our souls.
Jim just wanna say i think you’re content is definitely the tops. Don’t change a thing and keep pumping it out. I want to see doing this in 10,15 or 20 years from now And hopefully I’ll still be here to enjoy it. 😊
Look forward to watching ur vid Jim , great camera work and wild trip I'm sure , I'm taking off to Dawson for the summer within a month,,,,gold. Maybe see u up there one day ,,, later
Jim the mountains are truly in your heart. Jim you will have to do a video that breaks down to cost and preparation for this type of adventure some day. Sure would be interesting and informative.
Woah! Now that was exciting and beautiful. The shots of the scenery was absolutely grand. I've just subscribed and this is my first video. What a start! And what a powerhouse you are full of endurance to climb that mountain...and to go through those rapids and sharing all the emotions. I appreciated this very much and it certainly has jump started me into doing more hiking. Thank-you. And have a wonderful day! 🙂
You’re very welcome and that was an awesome climb! I hope you do get out on more hikes! There’s nothing like the outdoors. Physically work in nature is very good for the sole.
I thought 5 hours ? No way I'm watching all of this. Well I had to stretch it out over 2 days but I watched every second and am looking forward to the next one. Awesome cinematography and narration. You earned a much deserved rest with your beautiful family.
This is the first time I have seen your videos and I am hooked! I loved this video! The scenery was amazing. I know I will never have the opportunity to visit this part of the world so I have to live vicariously through others. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thank You Jim for Your grandios and clear stories about soloing the Yukon Wilderness. The exact 3:10:01 explanations about canoeing, walking and camping are often breathkeeping. Thank You a lot Jim. George from Austria, a great fan of Your adventures
Gorgeous scenery from both your perspective and that of the drone! Truly beautiful! And great music all the way through! That's the 1st time I have ever said that about any video! And it was 10 × as loud as the rest of the video! Bravo 👏 That last set of rapids looked freaking intense! Holy f***ing sh*t!!!! 😮 I was surprised at how few animals and birds there were. Especially where there were so many fish. I didn't even hear any birdsong. Kind of eerie! Great video, though. Obviously! I watched the whole thing! Peregrine falcons are probably my favorite raptors! Kites are cool too, I just love thr peregrine! ❤
You're an awesome adventurer, Jim! A few years back, I paddled the Blackstone river. Part way down, I hiked the mountain pass and could look down and see the Hart River. Totally awesome country, eh!
Looking more closely at the map, I actually climbed from the Blackstone to where I could see the Hart about 15 km further north than Mt. Netro, where the two rivers converge closer together. My objective was to find a portage from the Blackstone to the Hart. As it turned out, to end my trip 30 years ago, I portaged from where the Blackstone converges with the Ogilvie/Peel up to the Dempster Highway, then hitchhiked back. Awesome country! I'm from the Yukon (Watson Lake), and did the Blackstone twice. I'm 69 now, and recently bought a float plane. The adventure continues. Life just gets better and better when you grab onto opportunities, eh Jim.
Only an hour in but I can sympathize and recognize so many little things from my summers paddling the lakes and rivers in Temagami… the song of the paddle is calling! Just perfect, feels like I’m there (minus the bugs)
Almost unbelievable Jim. The scenes you capture and the grit needed to make it all happen is beastly. And the footage of you shooting rapids knowing that you have no backup help is off the chart and gives this viewer anxiety vicariously! This rivals the adventure for me when you and Buck crossed Baffin Island on foot in the arctic winter. Nicely done and I enjoyed every minute of it!
A big thank you for this video Jim - we just completed the pelly river with 4 friends and it was amazing. Your video really helps fighting the blues of leaving the Yukon and inspire to come back and do the Plume or the Wind! Thanks again for the high quality content and notably some very good learnings on gear, wild camping etc!
Stay Strong Jim us positive 's here number the negatives❤ I will watch them "All"over and over a million times on my on! Hi Jim. Just loved this film. What a stunning area, makes you really motivated to get outside. I also loved the music played (sorry, not thinking about your singing 😂) could provide a playlist? All the best from Norway
Thanks a lot. I dint have a playlist and I just pull tracks from here or there as I edit from the music libraries I subscribe to. You could use the schazam app on your phone which would tell you the track names as the app “listened” to them.
very cool Jim, just watched this as we are good friends with Alkan Air in the Yukon. great seeing the floatplanes in your content and your entire project here was so freaking cool. really sweet content!
Man, this is some really tasty footage! Makes me dream of coming to Canada just for this kind of experience. So crazy beautiful, Thanks a lot for this!
Thanks a lot! Ya, you tube pick up where you left off so you don’t have to fine each episode in the right order and what not. I do typically run these series as episodes, uploading one as I edit the next one. Then, a few. Months later I release a full doc version which is more or less all the episodes back to back with a few edits. People often enjoy it more than the series but I guess, therefore I do break it up into shorter episodes first. People seem to like the format though and after completing, filming and editing such a challenging expedition, I think I deserve to be able to speed the content out a bit more.
Don’t care if this is a repeat adventure. Much love to the Baird Family from the Pacific NW❤ Especially Love the drone footage. Absolutely magnificent.
Love these long videos even though I’ve seen it I’ll watch it again. Cannot wait for the new adventure’s in the spring and summer. Epic 5-8 hours awesome job Jim & company
Yep another TOP epic adventure bud! Had everything from caribou, moose, dall sheep, fishing, mountain top views, freaking awesome last couple rapids ohh and a bit of beat boxing in the mix! Enjoyed every breath taking views as you paddled through the hart river! Yukon is where it is y’all. Thanks bud for another awesome adventure 💚
Yes, Dall’s sheep not goats. I had an editor cut this as I was in other B.C. on another adventure at the time and he got mixed up and used the audio from another place when I said maybe there’s sheep or goats up there before I started the climb. There aren’t any goats in this area but there are in southern Yukon
Absolutely top tier filming and editing in this movie. I watch them all, but for whatever reason this one has just breathtaking imagery. Great Job on the filming and storytelling. I do have a couple questions though. 1. Do you guide clients on any trips? 2. What size and name/model is your plastic food barrel? 3. What is the name/size for the food barrel bags you use? 4. I was going to ask you what boots you wear, because you are always tramping through the water in them and I thought they might be waterproof and you found something the rest of us want but don’t have but then you mentioned you change out your boots to the dry ones so that’s what I do. I love the Yukon and NWT but have only been 6-7 times myself. I guide remote backcountry trips through the entire Baja Peninsula for the past 40 years on kayaking, paddleboarding, moto riding, truck trips and more … love your content. Thanks Tim
Two things, first of all Free Falling cracked me up, I had to pause the video till I quit laughing, it was perfect. It brought my spirits up when I was down. Glad you got a good voice. 2nd: when you were explaining about the one spot before you hit the Rapids when you were having a spiritual feeling or an emotional feeling, that's exactly how you feel when you watch the Northern Lights. A friend and I were literally touched by the Northern Lights here in Alaska where I live. They were the red lights that touched us, I saw him light up red he saw me light up red. On our bodies not just our clothes. It freaked us both out. Because we knew it wasn't just a reflection. Northern Lights are a given where we're at. And every time you see them it's like your experiencing a higher power, not necessarily a god. Only one other person believed us cuz it happened to him also. And no, we weren't high or drunk. Anyway, the way you explained it I know exactly how you were feeling. I'm glad you got to experience that.
Really a beautiful river with it's aqua color and the mountains all around it makes for some really awesome views. I enjoyed this one very much ❤ thanks for taking me along with you 😊
The oatmeal eating was fascinating, and the nose hairs will probably grow back. I have been watching Canadian outdoor videos for years, but clearly none have gone to the Yukon. I am blown away by that landscape. The land before time. "Every river is a little bit different. That's why you gotta paddle them all."
Mate that was absoloutly incredible. The effort that must have taken to film that blew me away. Awesome job, ill have to get to the Yukon, it almost didnt look real at times it looked so beautiful. Keep up the good work Jim. That provided me with a whole week of after dinner entertainment.
Absolutely epic! So inspiring! Me and my girlfriend are planning to do some kayaking this summer and watching this makes me super stoked about it! I love how much effort you put into these productions, it really feels like you take us with you on your journeys!
Dear Jim. Greetings from germany. You sparked a feeling inside of me to come visit canada! I just can't find anything remotely comparable to this kind of freedom and nature bonding in europe. Maybe in the not so distant future i will be following your steps on the hart river and mount netro.
Awesome Video Jim!! Some of your best yet! Amazing video clarity of such a beautiful place. Felt like I was there with you which is so relaxing. 😎 🙏Thank you for all of the effort you put forth to make this great video…. Lou
So happy to see you crush that empty can & pack it out with you. So many people think it's just fine to leave their trash behind. This really showed me your true respect for the land. Thank you ❤
I loved your trip…. so very beautiful. I appreciate you taking time to explore your environment…it really must have been uplifting. I love you took time to cook your food as it shows a gratitude instead of relying on propane which I think is cheating lol…. I hope to see this great place. Thank you for sharing your life ❤ Peace
Absolutely amazing video. You do all what I love to do. Crossing beautiful nature, kayaking, fishing and just be there and breath the freedom and beauty. Canada was always my dream. God bless you Jim 😉
I don't know if I'll ever take such trips, but you inspire me to explore the rivers in Minnesota! I can't watch Boundary Waters videos, I need to see these awesome Canadian whitewater rivers in videos! Maybe one year I'll try a week long trip, we'll see!
It’s rare to see really high-quality long format content like this, especially with an outdoor theme and it nearly 5 hours amazing. Amazing
Thanks very much! Typically release these trips in episodes one each week as I edit them. Then, after the episodic series is done and a few months go by, I release the “full doc” version which is basically all the episodes back to back to back in one place.
I love watching ur adventures I wish I could do something like this sometime
Thanks a lot and I hope you get the chance to
I don't have the experience to do this alone. But man, this looks dang near close to heaven.
It was amazing for sure. Thanks a lot for tuning in.
