    Nice tutorial Nick! You also can get a mix ready template setup but save it with all the plugins disabled. Then at the end of a writing session, go to performance monitor and enable all plugins using the 'Inserts' checkbox and Bam... you have a quick export mix ready at the end of the recording session. Just started doing this after years of battling latency and what plugins to run. I even do gain compensation for GGD so my levels are right when tracking vs once I pop on the plugs. Keep the vids coming!

    I just watched this a 2nd time. You explain every step in detail but still simple enough for beginners. This was truly needed, lots of videos on this usually has the person going thru this but just verbally but never demonstrates what they are doing on screen. I only wish this was done for reaper. I actually need your help.. i hard panned my right and left guitars.. Tracked 2x but when you listen to it .. it sounds mono? do you know whats going on?

    Hey Nick! Great Job! I know how time-consuming it is, to make a video this length. I use Reaper, but it's almost the same thing as Studio One. I have one question. When you recording your guitars and don't hit exactly 100% pace. I mean, sometimes you can be a little faster or slower. How can you correct it in Studio One? thank you for your time!

    • @NickHillMakesMusic
      @NickHillMakesMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you can, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I believe one of the best things that has helped me and my guitar playing overall has been writing and recording and practicing with a metronome or a click. I would just suggest doing it over and over until you get your parts tight. Often times I have to record a riff for an hour. Sometimes it’s not so long. It just depends but I find that it benefits my playing in my tracks if I just try to get it as good as I possibly can

    • @MineralVW
      @MineralVW 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NickHillMakesMusic Yes absolutely! I also think that practicing is the best solution in this case. Sometimes I have to edit some customers DI's and this are not always good DI's. Just wanted to know how it works in Studio One. I know how it works in reaper. Thank you

    This is awesome! Thanks for doing this. Stupid question but can this be extended to use my Helix LT as the recording interface? I have a Presonus but sometimes I'm away from home and want to record from my Helix.

    • @NickHillMakesMusic
      @NickHillMakesMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. Just replace the presonus interface with the helix and you're good to go. I think I have a video on using a helix as an audio interface as well.

    If I wasn't such a newb, this would be great. I just don't know Stidio One's commands to get around that fast. I just want to record a drum kit, and it's killing me. I'm so far behind. I'm in that generation right before everyone became computer experts

    • @NickHillMakesMusic

      Don’t get frustrated Brother. Look up Joe Gilder and Gregor plus studio one for some serious tutorials diving into everything from beginner stuff and more. It will just take a little initial acclimation and before you realize it, you’ll be getting around.

    Hello Nick, I have one question! Given the fact the the signal chain is GTR->Helix Rack->Sound Card->Studio One, how can someone record also the DI signal (for re-amping) of the guitar on Studio One on your template? As far as i know on Studio one you can not use as input interfaces 2 sound cards (e.g. Helix USB port 7 for DI & Presonus Helix L). In that case do we just have to bypass from the sgnal chain the SoundCard and use only Helix as sound interface directly on Studio One? Thank you for your valuable help!

    • @NickHillMakesMusic
      @NickHillMakesMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep! You’ll just need to use your helix as your interface. If you do some research on the ASIO for all driver, I believe you can combine multiple audio interfaces but I haven’t played with that for some time. Hope that helps

  • @mokiloke
    @mokiloke 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I downloaded the template but it comes up with errors about "the system cannot find the file specified" Im using HelixLT as interface and am running off a file location on my D drive. I just bought Studio one after watching some of your videos, nice work. Thanks for the videos.

    • @NickHillMakesMusic
      @NickHillMakesMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what the issue is Brother. I’d simply try following along and creating one based on your setup if you can’t get it to work

    • @NickHillMakesMusic
      @NickHillMakesMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ha! Dude. I’m a small studio/bedroom/basement musician. I have ZERO space or resources for acoustic drums at this point in the journey.
      Luckily, their is a crap load or resources and videos on TH-cam that help with that. Sorry I can’t be more help in this area.
