I was actually blessed to see this performance live. I’ve never experienced anything like it. She was performing at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was silent while she was singing because she was so amazing. Then there was a standing ovation - 18,000 people stood up and clapped and cheered. I will never forget that moment.

20,000 people in the building and not a single peep from anyone until she stopped.
    We were all mesmerized!

I was there. When she sang, you could hear a pin drop. I never wanted the song to end. I can only describe it as if, for a moment, heaven rolled back the veil and we all felt as if we were there. It was, indeed, a prayer that was sung. I go back and listen to this performance at least a few times a month. Even after 4 years, I still get chills.

What a fantastic gift God has given Sissel. You were close on the pronunciation of her last name. Phonetically it is like Shur She Boo with the accent on the first syllable. This song and her rendition of To God be the Glory are just spectacular. I love that she gives God the glory for her voice. Can't wait to talk with her in heaven.

This is a divine performance. Perfectly executed by all involved. Sissel is the voice of Norwy. Until now at least. Also humble and down to earth. Loved your reaction to this. Phenomenal indeed.

Sissel is just about the perfect singer for this faith song. She has a strong spirituality about her that gives her voice an honesty and a sincerity to her singing within this genre. In think in faith singing we have witnessed an historic performance that will resonate for years to come. Interestingly, that was Sissel's 3rd major concert with the Mormon Tabernacle. She was 50 years old here and is beloved in Utah. A very interesting recording of a telephone call has been released from Mormon archives from 1990 in which a Mormon Rep rings her up and talks about her singing career and then casually drops in the idea of her coming to Utah where she'd never been. She's heard of the choir (cause she is a choir person herself) but you hear her pleasantly redirect the request away and towards her agent. From such little incidentals comes great events. (BTW: Siss is Lutheran not Mormon.)

In reference to my previous comment and the proper pronunciation of Sissel's last name... I just heard another Norwegian announcer pronounce her last name. Seems it sounded more like Shear She Ba. Maybe she'll do a quick "video" on her Facebook page and let us know how to say it. If not, thank the Lord she just uses her first name for all of us Yankees in the U.S.

Your pronunciation of Sissel's last name was fairly close, certainly a lot closer then my first guess. And a lot closer than most reactors.

Sissel is for me the grand mother of the wonderfull new norwegian female singers. She is from the town Bergen, the same as Aurora. Try Sissels "The Old Castle" from a outdoor consert in Sweden from 2006. The mother of the new generation I will say is Susanne Sundfør, here with her "Undercover" live from Stoller Hall 3 years ago: th-cam.com/video/A-uRyOu4YV4/w-d-xo.html

Returning to your reaction... yes she is soo great. You spoke about her big catalog - if you list this wikipedia adress - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_recorded_by_Sissel - you get a VERY long list, like 50 pages long on my laptop
