I used to work at a Jaguar franchise about 6 years ago they were on the decline then, and they also decided they didn't like the loyal customer base who purchased them. They went for the woke DEI group and look where they are. Its a shame, but they are doomed. Go woke go broke.
My first Jaguar was a 2001 XK8. Back when it was built, few production cars could catch it (yes, still a fair few but 99.9% couldn't). Designed by artists and engineers alike, put together by skilled craftsmen. I recently went to look at a XJ. A little 3 litre diesel with nearly as many horses as the XK8, but the build quality... Err, no thanks. It looked nice enough, but no different to say an Insignia or Mondeo or whatever. You used to know a Jaguar when you saw it- a bonnet with a saloon attached to the rear. Now they just look so same as.

The reality- I am sorry to say- is that Jaguar's core w/wide image was once of a British Gentleman's executive car, evoking feelings of rolling countryside, golf clubs, country retreats and so on. But in 2024 that is not in demand. Brand Britain is broken and people don't want it. They can make more money asset stripping our battery knowledge and taking it back to India.
This is the end of Jaguar, there is no way their customer base is interested in this sort of thing. If you insult your customers you lose them and one you’re going to look back and realise this is where it finally went totally wrong.

That and the EV plans being postponed beyond 2035 just shows how people aren't ready or aren't willing for EVs. As an automotive enthusiast and a sensible human being, I see the EVs arrival with banning of the ICE vehicles utter bollocks of an idea. EVs will never and I mean ever ever rule above ICE vehicles in the near future. The ICE banning will eventually be pulled back with stricter regulations and more support for EVs but that's it, there's no other realistic way of banning combustion engines.

A friend of mine is service manager at a fairly large JLR dealership and even though servicing is carrying on, the overall loss to his franchise is apparently so big they may have to close anyway due to lost sales.
What is so painful is the senior management teams that arrogantly enforce these marketing and brand changes aren’t the ones to lose their jobs If I worked at Jaguar, this marketing strategy would terrify me.

Ads that car companies put out do reflect on the buyers. I bought a car 2 years ago and did my research, I landed on Mazda. I wanted something different from what I've been driving for the last 13 years, a BMW 3 series. I wanted a reliable awd hatchback that was fun to drive and also a good commuter's car. So I settled for a Mazda3 because the Mazda3 hatches are still made in Japan and are not interested in woke politics. They're just trying to sell cars and it's one of the reason I went with them. I'm not interested in giving a woke company tens of thousands of dollars.

The Boots ad was spot on though - it was hitting it's target demographic spot on, and generating a load of free publiclity to boot (no pun untended). I'm not so sure about the Jag ad - it's obviously trying to modenrise it's image, but I think the heritage is part of it's appeal.
The ad is brilliant! We watch this first ad, which attracts a great deal of attention - especially negative. Then comes the next ad in which these ridiculous fruitcakes get hosed down with stinking slurry from a tractor. Then a dapper, middle-aged farmer steps out of the farm wagon, smirks at the sight, winks at the camera, and jumps into his swish new Jag and speeds off. Then comes the final strapline: "Jaguar. Never woke. Always wonderful".
It will have to be the irredeemable Jeremy Clarkson who drives a manure spreader over those rainbow Teletubbies at his farm and then jumps into his new Jaguar EV and speeds away burning rubber from all four tires to redeem the Jaguar brand.
Got to admire the genius of the ad-makers leading the viewer to expect a product that is brightly colored, exuberant, vivid and extraordinary, hinting at the twist with the stroke of white pant, then pulling the flowing colors aside to unveil a new Jaguar model made without a mold, a shapeless white lump sitting motionless as its batteries recharge.
They have just gone mental. Over here we have an industry in dealing with mental cases. There are more jobs for mental doctors of various descriptions than engineers.

The ad is brilliant! We watch this first ad, which attracts a great deal of attention - especially negative. Then comes the next ad in which these ridiculous fruitcakes get hosed down with stinking slurry from a tractor. Then a dapper, middle-aged farmer steps out of the farm wagon, smirks at the sight, winks at the camera, and jumps into his swish new Jag and speeds off. Then comes the final strapline: "Jaguar. Never woke. Always wonderful".
It will have to be the irredeemable Jeremy Clarkson who drives a manure spreader over those rainbow Teletubbies at his farm and then jumps into his new Jaguar EV and speeds away burning rubber from all four tires to redeem the Jaguar brand.

When every nobody is talking about the brand, job done. The hate is noise, the brand gets free advertising. Bingo.
So, the new Jaguar range of perfumes is on it's way. More reliable and less likely to catch fire than their vehicles!

Got to admire the genius of the ad-makers leading the viewer to expect a product that is brightly colored, exuberant, vivid and extraordinary, hinting at the twist with the stroke of white pant, then pulling the flowing colors aside to unveil a new Jaguar model made without a mold, a shapeless white lump sitting motionless as its batteries recharge.

They have just gone mental. Over here we have an industry in dealing with mental cases. There are more jobs for mental doctors of various descriptions than engineers.
