Im an American who used to haul livestock all over the country, everything from piglets to huge sows and boars for breeding to cattle of all ages and sheep and goats. In order to do this job you have to get very good at going without sleep because once you load the animals up on the trailer you do not sleep and only stop for diesel fuel until you reach the destination.. some people simply cannot do it but for those of us who can its still difficult especially after 48 hours.
Glad you see some logic in it 😅 Some of our viewers have found it rather extravagant, but if we were to rent even just a room for the duration of the refit it would cost us more and we wouldn't be able to get that money back. By selling Byvind once the refit is completed we will get that money back. 😉
i have watched a few of your vids and i can see clearly that you don't do this because you love sailing but because you love your husband, he is a lucky man.
I do like sailing, but perhaps it comes across as if I didn't because whenever we sail, the first 48hrs are not pleasant at all for me. I know many people get seasick, but the severity of my seasickness is sky high! And to be quite honest, when weather deteriorates I sometimes find it quite scary, I'm a bit of an wuss tbh. But you are right, even if I didnt like sailing much, I would still support his dream of sailing the world, I would be by his side. 😊
I worked offshore for a number of years on the Canadian North Sea side where the Ocean Ranger sank, and I have to say you've got stones, both of you, I will give you that. It did look like pretty calm ocean though
I understand why you bought another boat one you can be nearer squalo two living in rented accommodation in uk is not cheap she sailed well should be reasonably good for resale later good luck 😊😊
That’s right, rented accommodation is indeed expensive and once the money is spent we cannot get any of it back whereas we can sell the boat once Squalo is ready and that money will go towards cruising for good few months. 😀
Nat is s true trooper. Zigged is we got this hun. Happy that you were able to go out and sail. Before you know it you will have a boat splash. With another boat for sale.
Awww thanks 😊 yes, of the two of us Ziggy is the one that stays calm and just deals with situation at hand. Cannot wait for Squalo though, she is so much more comfortable and I feel much safer in her, the cockpit is so much higher and further away from rough sea.
Really good video! I would like a "map" where you can draw on the map where you are and what port you're entering.. sho we can follow along your trip! :D
Sounds great!@@sailingsqualo I think that just a google map with a "draw line here" where you go and where you are would help a lot in videos like this where you say you enter a certain port, location or travel across the sea.. so we don't have to bring up google maps next to the video and look it up while we watch :D keep up the good work!
Greetings from NZ. Just found your channel. Looking forward to watching your diary from the beginning now. I said to myself 'that's not the North Sea I know' then on day 3, 'arrh, that's more like the North Sea I know😊'.
Welcome to our channel! Fantastic to see someone following us all the way from NZ! 😊 Yes, the crossing was unusually calm first couple of days and then it quickly got really windy and choppy! 😅 Sounds like you sailed around here and you know what the North Sea is like.
@sailingsqualo We had a long keel (that we also significantly renovated) in NE England for many years and sailed much of the east coast and beyond before moving it to the Clyde Estuary.
@@sailingsqualoEast coast has its challenges, notwithstanding that, it's definitely a place to upskill your sailing. The North Sea can be pretty wick at times, excellent training for ocean passages, and the plethora of small beautiful fishing harbours to visit will test your Yacht Master anchoring skills. Smaller boats will release more potential then larger boats who will have a different 'marina bound' experience, and a bilge/lifting keeler, would be ideal for a more extensive exploration of that area then long/fin.
Happy New Year! 🥳 Ugh, we are very frustrated that we haven’t been able to attend marina as of lately. It is 100% work related, gathering funds for the project 😅 but we are getting there and we are hoping to be back around March (yes..this year 😂). In the meantime I have one video to edit from few months back which I will try and upload very soon. Apologies for such a poor attendance 😔 Best, Natalia
I don't understand why you bought the second boat, but, since you are on the water, who cares! Does anything rattle Ziggy? Those four hours to Scotland looked like fun. Nothing like a good storm to turn on the technicolour yawns!
Hi Nick ☺️ the reason for the second boat is to have somewhere to stay while in the boatyard, staying on board Squalo is no longer an option, unbearable to sleep where some fibreglass dust manages it’s way into the cabin and sleeps there too 😅 we obviously won’t keep both once we can move onto Squalo. Ziggy experiences some mild seasickness but somehow manages to fight it off.
I only just got what you meant when asking whether anything rattles Ziggy? Not if anything rattles on the boat in general 😂 the answer is, he experiences mild symptoms but fights it off :)
Great video again. Glad you made it back safe and sound. My other half sympathises with you Nat 😂. Did you have to check in to the UK after bringing the boat back?
Hi! Those who never suffered from seasickness will never truly understand what we go through 🤢 but it doesn’t deter me from this way of life, it luckily lasts ONLY 😅 a couple of days and after that I can enjoy and appreciate the joys of cruising. We did have to check in, which we only found out after we arrived in Peterhead that we should have filled out paperwork upon leaving Norway. But they were so helpful and understanding that we had no problems doing it whilst in Peterhead.
@@sailingsqualo No I'm on the pontoon where you turn right to go out to the visitor berths. We always have a walk round to look at the visiting boats. My friends had talked to you earlier in the day when you told them about the auction, Shame I didn't know about your bilge pump as I could have given you one - I have two spares onboard.
@andymaclennan4485 yes! We remember! 😄 Aww thats too kind, now I wish we asked around if someone had spare pump. We would have happily bought it off you. Nevermind 😊
We had to work on a couple of projects 😩 more $ to spend on a boat later on, but no time for anything else at the moment I’m afraid. Will be back soon enough. Let’s hope the weather gets better by that time as well 🤞
We have been held up with projects at work 😭 so sorry!!! I am finishing editing our last video which was actually recorded several months back 🤦♀️ will release most probably next week. 🙌 Glad we haven’t been forgotten yet 🙃🥰
Oh hello! Thanks for reaching out! We've been swamped with work lately, which has made it challenging to create new content (or even visit the boatyard). We appreciate your patience and understanding, we're working on getting back on track soon. But pls stay tuned! ☺️
I would of pulled her out of the water Just too check everything out through hulls etc, Just for peace of mind Oh well you made it Experience can only be gained through doing it, Not watching Instagram Enjoy good luck
You are absolutely right, we wouldn’t normally advise this approach. We checked whatever we could while she was in the water and felt she was safe to make that crossing. And she did well bringing us safely back home. not without problems, but even on the best prepared boat things will go wrong. I am glad Ziggy is good at problem solving even in challenging conditions. I guess his time spent in a military somewhat prepared him for such instances. 🙌

You don’t seem “mad” at all. If you can make a comfortable home aboard the new boat, it is a good option.

Hi guys, was trying to get in touch. I’m in Essex and seeing if you guys was around?
