    It's actually really inspiring to see Miri changed her life in her late 30s. As a soon to be 27 year old it seems to me like I need to have everything figured out within 2 years, but I clearly don't. We're all just trying to figure out our way and sometimes that takes longer. And that's okay.

    Seeing Miri again really puts a smile on my face. I'm glad that you're doing well after all these years. Its fitting bringing her in now during the strikes and have a conversation about mental health and the people that are affected by it. I personally struggle with MDD over the past few years. Getting Miri's insight on the whole thing is genuinely eye opening for me on a personal level. This is an awesome episode! Thank you for bringing Miri back Kristian.

    Catching up on comments: This was one of my favorite episodes of The Big Thing EVER. It was so nice to see Miri doing so well and feeling happy, accomplished and fulfilled in her new career/life. Specifically, the section towards the end where you, Kristian open up about your own struggles and your conversation with Miri about manifestation, burn out and exhaustion was incredibly eye-opening and relatable for myself and I'm sure countless others. Love it.

    It's so good to see Miri again! I'm glad to see she's doing well in her new career and a very important one at that. I hope she can make it on again whenever her schedule allows for it. I think Roxy, Steph, and Dorina should also have her on The Whirl Girls at some point. They frequently talk about mental health in addition to various topics. Miri would be an awesome guest over there.

    1:01:45 I work 7 days n I used to be proud of it. I’m almost embarrassed by it now cuz I used to work 10 - 16 hours off the clock thinking it’d be recognized. It wasn’t, u get punished for not doing more, and ur not getting paid for it - and on top of it, I’m not nearly as fit as I used to n even if I wanted to (I do), I don’t even have the time to prioritize my physical health let alone my mental health. It was a slow realization but I’m finally gonna give up my second job (hopefully this year). Not there yet but at least I know where I’m headed.
    Really interesting topic but I’m really liking the diversity ur putting in these podcasts: UAP, mental health, etc. on top of the good pop culture ish I’m here for. Keep up the good work!

    Really enjoyed this one man, particularly the discussion at the end about trying to find a good work/life balance. That’s something I’ve had to actively work to improve. The workaholic culture is real basically across the board, but I feel like it’s really pushed in artistic careers because “this is what you love! You should want to do it all the time!” And there is a truth to that, but only to an extent. Glad you had her on.

    It was good seeing Miri Jedeikin. In "You Tube" years, it has almost been 1/4 of a century since I last watched her talk with Kristian Harloff! It is so ironic as had she been a long-time producer in film work, she might have been one of those executives now involved in the talks to settle the strikes by WGA and SAG-AFTRA. Judging by the recent negotiations with the WGA, (which turned out to be more of a flat statement by the Studios), seems like the AMPTP could use a few Miri Jedeikin's to make this process move more coherently and equitably.

    From experience striking weights heavily on an employee.
    Making that decision to stand up for what you believe & at the same time financially leaving your family without is very tough, believe me.
    Choosing between providing for your family or standing in solidarity with your work colleagues is damaging for your mental health. Also something you’ll struggle to get support for especially from your employer. Really sympathise with anyone going through this but stick with your beliefs until that point comes when you know you can’t make a stand any more. You haven’t lost, you fought the fight which is what’s important.

The people that stopped the funding like JP Morgan and the people that made fun of Tesla he can get his revenge using electricity. Especially against Edison. Sequels can have his descendants getting even.

    AMPTP, WGA, SAG. It’s hard to tell who has the most disregard and disdain for the film and television working class and I. A. T.S.E. Guild and crew. AMPTP, WGA & SAG are all the elites rolled into one. All complaining about how much money the other ones are making while the rest of us fall into debt despair and face down foreclosure. They are all going to find a different attitude from the crews they will be depending on in the future, and it won’t be nice.

  • @Vulcanerd
    @Vulcanerd ปีที่แล้ว

    A big part, having lived in another country, is that a lot of the problems the US experiences is self-inflicted.
    Things like calling the ambulance meaning not being able to pay next month’s rent or watching gun violence cut people down year in and year out and shrugging our shoulders going, “eh, nothing to be done about it”. The kinds of problems other countries may not have the perfect solution for, but a handle on. But we’re sold a pile of bs that it wouldn’t work here or those other places are “different”.
    And it also doesn’t help that there’s this rapacious capitalistic mindset that we have to constantly work three jobs and have side hustles or you deserve to be face down in a ditch. Or the gross mindset of the people who defend the likes of Bezos bc, deep inside, they just know. They. Just. Know. They are temporarily embarrassed billionaires right on the cusp of billionaire-hood.
    Somehow, we’re the greatest country on earth, but we can’t seem to or are unwilling to do things that would actually help ourselves and we have a section of our citizens who actively sabotage us to prevent us from fixing things.
