Much like Megalovania and Spider Dance, this was more blatant on footage. Lets see if any undertale fan or someone that played the game can notice anything familiar aside from the song.

The similarities are as follows:
1: You never focused, leaving you at one consistent speed at all times, like Undertale. (Despite the fact that shift and X slow your movement in Undertale)
2: You chose the shot type that would leave Patchouli with using Fire Magic, in the same vein as Asgore, even cutting out the Earth spell to keep just fire in there.
3: You chose a stage in the interior of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, a place with no view of the sun that is bigger on the inside than it looks like it could possibly be on the outside.

Well, Undertale is inspired off of Touhou...
Very slight similarity, one which could be pointed out between millions of songs due simply to contour and scales. Septette sounds like Beethoven's pathetique way more than this sounds like Septette.

At the end of the intro, I imagined Miko doing Asgore's cape swish.
The trumpets are what always make me like these songs. I might have to look for the synthesizer that uses these instruments and "experiment" with them.

+ultris07 I'm glad you are enjoying it and think I'm any good. When comes to touhou gamers, I'm not all that good. Still can't clear in Hard and Lunatic modes.
Incidentally, I was considering doing a video series on Tips and tricks for touhou games so it's more manage-able for the every gamer.

If you try a touhou game, I recommend Touhou 8. It's the easiest in the series and the most generous with extra lives. Also, I recommend the character I was playing as. In most games, she has an option to maker her bullets have homing properties as you power her up. She also has the smallest hitbox out of any given playable character in this. It's located and roughly the size of the bow on her back so dodging and practicing to dodge attacks will be easier with her.

The part from 0:21 to 0:26 sounds alot like 0:15 to 0:18 from "Voile, the Magic Library".
Don't forget the fact that Asriel uses the master spark attack, heh.

A lot of parallels between a few characters in these games. If your Hopes and Dreams remix doesn't involve Marisa I'll be disappointed! Certainly hoping to see more :)

+CrashKatt Funny enough, people have already made an HD mod. Then again, this was the first game zun started putting these games on PC. Before then, they games were on PC-98.
It's not an HD mod. It's a Retexture Pack. And that thing is godly, as you can see your goddamn hitbox. EoSD wasn't great compared to later games.

There's that, but I believe there was a specific HD mod and the hitbox mod is also a separate mod. The HD mod I believe does up the resolution greatly, even in full screen.
If you main Reimu, there's a very easy tell for where the hitbox lies. The majority of her bow on her lower back encompasses the actual hitbox. It stays true for the majority of the games.
The similarity you said..is it how this theme sounds a bit like Voile the magical library? (Or whatever the stage theme is called lol I kinda forgot)
The intro part was a bit lame, but the rest was actulaly pretty cool. The tone doesn't feel at all the same though--it feels less like a final boss fight, and more like a level theme. Maybe for a huge cave or something.

Considering how much Toby enjoys Touhou, that's probably intentional. Love the man but he's not very subtle about his references
I THINK I have the same soundfont as you, and am VERY disappointed you didn't use the choir for the beginning.
+DarkLink1996 I'm actually not fond of the choir samples. Usually when I actually use a choir it's usually Minish Cap's Malon voice samples.
NamekuBushi The "Touhou soundfont" I have has a godly Ahh Choir sample. It might be a different soundfont though.

+Extravagant Sobriquet I think so for the sake of recording and time constraints, but I no longer remember. Well, that and I don't remember if normal and hard have specific bullet patterns. I specifically choose this stage and difficulty to see if anyone noticed anything "Familiar".

It's okay. I find there's no shame in playing the game in easy mode. Infact, I find it ironic, that touhou 8 benefits from clearing in Easy mode.

just wondering... Why dont you use focused mode on this run? are you doing a no-focus run?
+azu When grazed, you get more points when you aren't focused. That becomes really helpful when you are trying to gather as many lives as possible.
How did you do that at sub 30 fps?
+Yrs579 A few things:
1: I speed up the footage to closer reflect it's natural running speed.(it can easily go 60fps. So the FPS counter is only showing the speed it was recorded in.)
2: When the game is slowed down, only the bullets are really affected which makes the game much easier.
3: Reimu with her Homing Amulet is a good combo to use. Especially, for beginners.
Incidentally, I'm actually planning a video series with someone that's dedicated as a video guide to the series. If all goes well, anyone that wants to play the game will no longer have anything to fear except maybe lunatic mode or extra mode.

I honestly don't remember. Most of the time I do normal. There is the occasion I do happen to record easy mode footage.
Guys, whats a touhou and where can i get one?
Touhou is an indie Bullet Hell (Sub Genre of a Shoot em up) video game series (that's been around since the late 90s). The series is known for their excellent soundtracks, flashy bullet patterns, and challenging difficulty. Ultimately, the numbered games are made by only one person. Spin offs(a couple of fighting games that play like DBZ budokai and some other genres) are a slightly different story. Just keep in mind, that only the 6th entry in the series(Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil, the game you're seeing footage for) and beyond are available for PC. The older games are for PC-98, a japanese only console.
Anyway, legally, you can get the game via amazon(or at least a good deal of them once it made it's shift to PC). However, you can find the games over the net for download. Fans have patched(or supply patches) for the english translation to the games. The touhou Wiki can supply you with a patch if it already isn't patched.
Personally, I recommend "Touhou 8: Imperishable night". Fairly easy compared to the other games, this game can get pretty generous with extra lives, and the requirement for the special level(Extra mode, which is a series staple) are pretty lenient(which is clearing the game without using a continue. Unlike most other games, this can be done on easy mode).

Links come up as spam on my channel so I will give you some leads that Google and Yahoo should be help follow through with this.
Look up "The Iso Zone" and "Touhou.pl". One person is dedicated to PC games and "other stuff", while the other is a polish touhou site that's fairly easy to navigate and has most of the official games available to download. Also, the later site most likely will have most of the game prepatched, if they aren't in english, go to the "Touhou Wiki" for the necessary patches. Once you play, I recommend easy mode first. Lunatic mode, it's hardest difficulty setting, is rather ... intimidating for the newbie. There are other neat tidbits, but I think they should be easy enough to notice for the most part.
