I'm 53 yrs old, I have tinnitus in my left ear and I'm managing to understand this instrument after a week. I'm no genius, but patience and intuition are key to working with this. Really good video btw. Glad to see us old farts are still musically active.
I always find it important to start exploring a synth from its most basic state and analytically dig into its capabilities. Fully agree with your approach.
Thank you for the tips. I’m still trying to get comfortable with the Lyra-8 as it is definitely not a traditional synth. I’ve been trying to tune by ear but that’s not a bad idea to use a tuner to refine it since you are right, everything nearly needs to be done in small steps. Enjoyed the video!
I have just bought this amazing instrument. I was looking for tips and... abracadabra... Thank you. Présentation simple, voix calme, petit trucs: tout ce qu'il faut pour espérer dompter the beast !
Good day Martin! I’m revisiting your tips video in an attempt to try your approach to the Lyra-8. My own approach is very “brute force” and think it will be rewarding to (like you) use a bit more finesse. Thank you for sharing all your Lyra-8 videos! ;)
Thanks for your nice comment. And one day soon there will be a cataclysmic event when we join all our ways to the perfect Lyra sound - the ultimate harmonic drone 🤗

Awesome tips thanks ! It still bucks me off and tramples my ears but I enjoy it even more now

Thanks :)
Great tips! I started using a Doepfer filter as well after I heard your results, great idea!
Thank you, Ben 🤗

Most of the time I tune it by ear also. Some times it even works. All the other times: "repetition legitimizes" ;)
The most interesting thing I've done with my Lyra-8 so far is get my wife to play her electric violin through it as accompanied here with the Lyra-8
This should sound amazing. Tried it with my guitar but I guess I need some kind of preamp. The Lyra is a beast of effect unit :)

Merci beaucoup ☺️
Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You are welcome 🤗
thx....my lyra loves the reverb !
...and your reverb loves the Lyra ;)
After practicing a few hours the first thing I did was exactly to use a reverb, no delay, no disto.
Sounds so cool!
Nice video
Yeah, even a bit of reverb adds a lot of character. Enjoy your journey with the Lyra.
Some really great tips for a complex synth, but can definitely be applied to any synth really. Thank you.
Yeah, you are absolutely right. Maybe I fell a bit too deep into the Lyra-8 rabbit hole ;)

Thanks, Luke. I am happy to have a machine like the Lyra for those harsh sounds that also gives me some subtle sounds. (But most of the time not ;) ).
I’ll have to try these! You have far more exploration experience than I. I’ll attempt some control. :)

Thank you for the eurorack filter idea!
...works like a charm. Have fun with it! :)
@@martingoldmannmusic i will!
Thank you !!!🥰
You are very welcome :)
Wie müsste man denn den Lyra8 mit Modulkomponenten nachbilden?
puh, gute Frage - habe da leider keine so gut Antwort. Aber vielleicht würde es sich lohnen, da mal mit VCV Rack etwas zu entwerfen...
