    I bought one of these today on account of your videos. My local store had one in stock.
    My first synth. It seems like I've set myself up quite a challenge going for this out of the gate, but I just love the sound.
    Threw on some headphones and went into a meditative state almost instantly.
    Thanks for putting this video together. I don't think I would have figured this out on my own.

      Well I hope you enjoy it. Drone synths are a bit niche compared to general purpose ones but I find the Lyra fun. Time to explore!

    "Put on your giant-ass reverb
    We're going out tonight!"
    :D
    Thank you for the insights. I'm still learning my Lyra8 but I'm already finding that (like the MatrixBrute) it needs subtle adjustments to really make it shine.

    I got the lyra two weeks ago and had plenty of fun since. For the past few sessions I always ended them with just playing the feedback. letting it roar and tame it again to just let it roar again. Such a magical device! Have not played with the Hold/turning the voices on and off again yet. Learned something new from your video :) thank you!

    I have just purchased the Lyra-8 (2nd hand not delivered yet?) so this is just what I needed to see to start to get my head around this crazy brilliant instrument.

    I got my lyra a few months back and had mixed feelings about it... I think i initially went about things in the wrong way... trying to control it and wield it like i did my other synths which just doesn't work. The thing just screamed at me and resisted my attempts to harness it. I was seriously considering selling it but after watching your videos, I learned to be gentle and attentive to the machine whilst playing it. Now its my favourite synth and I cant put it down. So thank you! 😊

    Very nice. The gentle approach works well with the Lyra. I’ve been recording 15 minutes at a time then chopping it up to create drum racks and pads. It keeps giving. Cheers!

      I only just got to play my Lyra today for the first time. I immediately came back to this page for my first play and took your guidance on this video. I’ve absolutely no doubt had I not my first experience would have been nowhere near as good. Thank you again for taking the time to make and share this video. Super helpful and has made me very happy! 🙏

      @@synthseeker love your demos of the Lyra 8 and how you use it. Really inspiring. Out of interest, do you think you could get similar sounds using the delay and feedback on the Erica Synths Perkons when creating drones?

    Great video! I appreciate the walk-through. Also curious about the power filtering you mentioned. Would love to know more about that. I have heard clicking in some of my audio and would love to see if I can eliminate that or at least minimize as much as possible.

    • @synthseeker

      My house is weird and the voltage isn't steady out the wall plugs. I haven't tried using a power conditioner to see if that helps, but I get some weird buzzes from time to time.

    I am super tempted to snag a used lyra 8 on reverb but I am hesitant to pull the trigger. Seems like a lot of money to spend on a drone machine.

    • @synthseeker
      @synthseeker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not cheap and it’s usage is very targeted. I’ve had mine for about four years now maybe longer? And the reason I still have it and that I don’t regret buying it is because nothing else sounds like it does and when I need it, it’s there, and it always delivers. It’s definitely not a universal synthesizer. It’s a machine tailor made for a couple sounds.

    The secret to ROARING: "Put on some giant *ss reverb!".
    I would never buy an instrument that has to be tuned every day (oh wait my guitars need that too right?) but the roaring sounds are great!

    • @synthseeker
      @synthseeker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      lol...if your guitar needs tuning every day, I think you need to consider a lock nut/tuners. :P
